NOTES FROM OUR TECH DEPARTMENT

Smoke-Equipped Planes are rapidly becoming more popular with the show team-
type demos that are all over the country. If you don't want to mess with
compicated plumbing, you need a smoke cartridge like the Smoke-Riter.

FEATURES: Produces approx. 3 minutes of dense grey/white smoke No need for plumbing to exhaust, messy fluids, or residue clean-up Mount to fuselage by using a clamp (not included) in marked locations Only. Light fuse to begin smoke reaction.

INCLUDES: One Smoke-Riter Cartridge w/Ignition Fuse

SPECS: Length: 6" Weight: 6 oz (including light blue wrapper) Diameter: 1-1/2" Fuse length: 2-1/2"

COMMENTS: Smoke release holes must face ground. Smoke is TOXIC. Avoid Prolonged Exposure. Clamps to hold cartridge to the fuselage (try a hardware store).

You can make you own smokers by mixing sugar and salt in the appropriate quantities with water, then leaving it to dry in whatever shaped vessel you require. You could have a smoker that easily lasted 5minutes+...

Arct1k 10.01.2008 06:07 PM

Yep - Instructions were posted further up - I like fire!

Ignition is the only issue... But not sure why you couldn't use an electric igniter...

I missed that, cheers dude. I havent looked at the cookbook for a while, so precise instructions escape my memory....

Strangely enough, I have a couple large yellow smokers that I have plans for myself, involving my truck- great minds think alike...

Arct1k 10.01.2008 06:24 PM

Don't drive it near the college or on passing out day... You might get visited by the men in black!

I didnt see anywhere the point of this Shaun, did you join a bot club or scale war club ? Or just for no reason other than to have what seems to be the coolest toy ever ? You win either way

Andrew32 10.01.2008 09:13 PM

hmm, iv been trying to look at sequential rocket ignition systems but cant find any, you could see if you have any friends that are electrical engineers. Its actually a pretty simple circuit, but i just cant remember...and my notes from my last EE class are alll loong gone

mkrusedc 10.01.2008 09:23 PM

Saltpeter, sulfur and sugar is what we used to make smoke bombs as kids. Copious amouts of smoke!

Forget the sulfur. It just made it stink:

You could try the smoke system they use on drifters:

I know there are RC relay switch that can be triggered using one of the servo channels but not sure how to go about the sequence firing...

Hay TB, that's what bottle rockets are for anrt they :intello:

When i was a kid i build a rocket launcher with a wired launch control panel i used very thing copper wire forming a spiral,(resistance) then let true some amount of current to fuse the wire this ignited the "rockets".

also you might consider an auto destruct mechanism lol

It is fun being an adult, but we have to shave like everyday thou
I like the suggestion about the thin wire (thank you!) that might come in handy..

NO... there will be NO auto destruct button, I'm moding my GEVO for this and no way in hell will I intently blow it up, but if it does it on it's own, my only wish is the Video is running

Thanks Cornolio.. I don’t think it will be ready by the 19th (sorry) but i should have gull wings and pods done by the 19th..

You got me thinking about this one, I know I’ve seen something before, maybe it will come to me when I or if I sober up

Thanks for your comments Lincpimp..

They have much smaller versions coming soon.

Hay Neil..

That's cool... to bad they don’t have the 10 lbs one out now.. I was actually thinking of something a lot simpler, once I get the frame and build the doors well see how much it all weighs and if a JR 440oz servo will work. If not then I know what my plan "B" is..

Thanks for the find / pull.. I was hoping you would post some of the goodies you know of.

It already has the ability to interface with an R/C signal natively.

For general electronic switch needs, you could try these: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...P?&C=MBZ&V=EMO
They turn the radio pulse signals into actual switched outputs.

You can get servos that do not have a specific range of motion - they act as winches instead. Tower has some but not sure what they would be called...

Thank you Brian.. :intello: love the general info, I really didn’t know that servo's could do all that.. It should make my life / build go much easier..

Way to much info on the smoke, now it's hard to pick just one system, it's not easy being me.. LOL.LOL.LOL..

Hay Jay "what the good word" for me its new cool project. LOL.LOL
No, no new clubs, I just wanted to build something no one else has, I've completed all my RC's and I was looking for a new challenge. So inlue of starting a heli or sub build i decided to build the first fully functional RC battle truck..

Thanks for the kind words sir, if I / we (the team) can pull this off (rockets, fully auto paint balls, smoke, etc) it should be huge and blast to see..

Have a great on Jay and thanks for stopping by and checking it out.. You might want to keep an eye open for further updates in a week or two. (IE) once I get all the parts I ordered..

Hay Andrew..
Thanks for the help.. I'm hoping that between BrianG, Skellyo, Arct1k, Neil, Linc, you, Jery, metalman, gee, TexasSP, Jhultz and few others I / we will be able to pull this one off.

Have a great one Sir and thanks for posting, please don’t stop!..

Shaun.

No sulfur.. but may shooting oil out the back (just to help complicate things) might be in order.. LOL.LOL..

LOL.LOL that's cool.. but not even close to the amount I'll need, I plan on hitting that button and blinding everyone behind me in a cloud of smoke.. :na:

It should be ready by our November bash!, I'll show you how it works close up then. LOL.LOL.

Have a great one BLR...

Shaun.

TDC57 10.02.2008 01:30 AM

I’ve ordered just about everything I could find and it all should be in the next or two.. YOU GUYS ROCK... :intello:

Here is something else I can do / add (depth chargers) but on land.. (Plan “B”)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExA69...eature=related I was watching the vid and gave me the idea of being able to drop “small timed” explosives as I go blowing up behind me after a sec or two.. I also found some large spaps (white things that look like sperm, but filled with gun powder) and was thinking about dispersing them behind me, that way when Jnev, metmalman, Rschoi_75, cornolio, etc come up behind me they.. Well you know..  :oh:

Just throwing them out there.. (literally):lol:

I was really searching for torpedo fire mechanizes and HOW run it on compressed gas when the Depth charger thing came up.. Just incase I cant get my rockets to go on gunpowder I can use a compressed gas system from a sub.. I don’t know (it’s all still in it’s embryonic stage), but it's coming together nicely and I thinkcan do it all for under grand (?) we’ll see… :yipi:

I was also able to Fab up some of the different rockets I’ll be testing this weekend to see which one work the best.. I should probably Video it, could be funny..

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_3544.jpg

Thanks again to everybody for their suggestions and comments, I’ll post another update once I receive all of the parts and progress is being made. Should be in about a week (hopefully)

Have a GREAT WEEK TEAM..

I can't really think of any recommendations as everyone pretty much covered it, but this will definitely be the most unique rc I have ever seen I think. I will surely be watching this thread for updates, and so far by the looks of things, I will be able to make the 19th for the bash no problem. :yipi: And with 3 WORKING cars this time.

Good luck on the rest of the project! Looking forward to the updates.

just a fyi, if you're looking for a continuous rotating servo, you could modify pretty much any old servo..

How 'bout an M80 inside a plastic sandwich baggy filled with flour? POOF! :eyes:

If you really want to scare them, have another M80 go off about 0.25 seconds after the first. With any luck, it will ignite the cloud of flour!
