...would be wider for sure...cvd's though which could be cool...more castor on the front too, which incidentally HPI puts into the savage Suspension conversion set anyway...could be worth a look...
...might make it TOO wide for what i want though...but would give me an excuse to sell all the Hellfire parts i have :D |
Ncie ride and build.

..batteries are charged...rain will hold off for another 24 hours...run out of CA so i cant get my tires on yet...New 'Sexy Magic' chassis is in the mail and flying over the Pacific :D New motorplate design is on the worktable and needs some love...Almost there...
pb4ugo :D Glad you figured out what i meant :D Thanks for posting...So you can understand my interest in your chassis design... |
you have all my respect for the building! nicely done no question bout that.
however if you're target is a "racing machine" why not go with a truggy to begin with? don't get me wrong i fully understand that "modifying" a truck is half the fun of the hobby. but one can modify a monster truck so that it is still monster truck. its somehow amazing that since the truggies entered the rc scene in 2005 or so a strange trend of monster conversions has set in. before that monsters were just monsters and buggies were buggies. different cars for different purposes. but yeah to each his own. i am just watching this trend and never really understood it. but i guess i don't have to .... bye rhylsadar |
...well that definately let the air out of the inflatable wife THAT one...I understand what you are saying though Rhylsadar; why bother going to all that trouble with a Savage when i could have just gone with a truggy...
...A: I tried the Hellfire a while back and could never quite get to grips with it...Its in the truggy section here... ...B: I wanted to use the hellfire center diff and shocks because thats what i had...no other reason...The reason i figured out how to use the HF towers was pure chance...i really wanted to use them as best they COULD be used... ...C: i never really liked the high cg on the savage... ...D: My target has never been a 'racing machine' so im not sure where you got that from...low, nimble, STRONG and fast were the project goals...All have been achieved...btw i drive like CRAP which is why its needs to be bulletproof lol... ...I MUCH prefer this truck to the Svage OR the Hellfire...Its like i have the best of both vehicles all packed into one...I appreciate your praise on the build aspect of it though...Most unlike me to have it end up looking this good lol... |
march 16 UpDate
...the weather was great...the sun was warm and high in the sky...The pregnant sister in law was coming over and the permission had been granted...The batteries were fresh, the tires were glued and the new motorplate was ready to go...
...It all turned to poo when in the the space of 30 seconds, 2-year old BabyBit took the driveshafts and hid them in the BlackHole that only small children have access to :( I searched ALL day and watched miserably as the sun went down on the Perfect Sunday...Even Mrs. Bit felt sorry for me as she knows this truck is a little bit different to everything else in the past...it was a LONG, LONELY Sunday... ...The night before was a busy night... ...As seen on ALL the best trucks in the past, i decided to make the motorplate the chassis brace... ...MetalMan has done it, Hjena has done it and Serum has done it...It makes the most sense and though adding a little bit of weight, tightly secures the motor AND the diff reducing flex and adding direct power... ...Introducing, possibly THE ugliest piece of metal work you may EVER see, The HFX BrimStone motorplate... ...photographed in the dark as it scares small children and makes the world a sadder place :D |
...as you can see the CD is now direct mounted to the baseplate, same as a regular pan chassis...the Kyosho 46t spur is small enough that i dont need to make a hole for it to sit in...
...The motorplate has another chassis brace at the top, which isnt fitted in the pictures, and it all sits nicely between the tvp's...It looks like crap but all the measurements work and everything fits with clearence and ZERO binding, in fact i would even say that the drivetrain feels smoother because of it... ..and So, because the bones I was using have mysteriously VANISHED, i had to mock up a slightly longer version...LONG XL in the rear and a long SavX in the front...which is actually DOES look much better...so Generis gets his wish of more length lol... |
Nice build, I will keep an eye on this!
We build two centerdiff savages so far, working on a third... they are definitely a different kind of monster. I like 'em with the batteries inside the TVPs. The Hellfire stuff conversion is a great idea BitHead, looks good with the wing! Keep it up! |
...this is just a mock up so name calling...the bodies I have are all too short ANYWAY so why not...The rear will probabaly get some alloy plate as I needed to cage the rear a little bit anyway...I reckon it looks pretty damn good...
|
Any video of it running?
|
Awesome build man. Very outside the box, I love it. I'm going to use a trick I learned here on my next build!
