I'm w/ a 18/58 right now.. but I think when I did that race I may have been 18/54 w/ my losi xxt tires (bout same size as proline crimefighter LPR's).

I know this thread is old but hoping to get a response back before I order the same 9000mah 28c SMC packs. What LVC did you set it at for 22 minutes and are you still happy with these packs are you seeing any swelling or just plain failure? I would like answers from actual owners of these batts not forum generated answers, thank-you!

I believe I have my Mamba Monster LVC set to 3.2 or 3.3 and get over 20 minutes of of bashing time.I`ve had mine SMC 9000 for a Little under a year and they have swelled,it`s more difficult to put into battery compartment but still fit.

They will swell if pushed really hard after a few times going to LVC.. if you are geared reasonable they should hold up for a while expecially if you don't always take them down to LVC. I wouldn't rate SMC's as a 'top' pack, but they are decent. 3.0 LVC was used, so you could maybe pick a high cutoff for added protection.

One concern I have is my charger (duratrax ICE with a Equinox balancer). It takes usually 3 hours to charge one SMC 9000 28C battery.

I'm not sure that I would recommend these packs anymore. I bought 8 of them at their original release, 4 for me, and 2 for 2 friends. While at first they were very powerful, their longevity left something to be desired. Though we all pushed them very hard, at roughly 50 cycles they are down to taking only 5500 mah. They also tend to come out of balance. However, SMC did give me a discount on a pair of new packs, that I am waiting on, as they say the newest cells are better. I have 3 mos to try to push them to their limit, so I will report back once I know something.
But I did just get a new pair of the SPC 8000's. They seem to be doing very good. I really need to get the SMC's for a good head to head comparison.
