Hello guys ! Some news of the total overkill truggy :D
I finally managed to balance my wheels ! As simple as "hello" like we say in France, I tried like you said and after 5 min per wheel the job was done !:yipi:
So today my MBX5T was hungry, I let it eat one battery :D
15/46 gearing like before, 60F outside, after the battery of bashing in grass and dirt, motor was at 95F !!! and ESC at 100F :yipi::yipi::yipi: note that ESC Fan is always on ??? Because of the 6S ?? anyway, objective done for me with the temp!
But I managed to break my front lower arm :( :( after a huge jump  so the video will be for tomorow, sorry guys !
See you later :D

Nice1! what did material did you use to stick to the wheel for balancing...

Also regarding your fan being always on... that didnt worry you did it? your temps seen way below normal which is a good thing

nuz69 05.03.2010 02:26 PM

I used modeling clay :D but I have ordered some stuff designed for RC wheels already.
Yes I can't explain why my fan was always on, because ESC was cold, maybe it's a safety protocol when the BEC is under 6S or ? Anyway, the temp is great, last time it was 120F but I realised that it was under hard sun and 85F outside, so mission accomplished :D :yipi:
Lets get the 60 mph ^^

Jahay 05.03.2010 02:30 PM

did you just say that the ESC was on because it was cold???? well anyway i hope i am as lucky as you to keep my temps down. Whats your truggy weighing at roughly??? and you dont by any chance have a link to the rc wheel wheel weight stuff????

THANKS

nuz69 05.03.2010 02:42 PM

No I said that I was surprised, because the ESC fan was always on although ESC temp were always under 100F !
I use 6S 4000mAh, so the truggy is... HEAVY :D
Here for balancing, I just bought the special thing to put in the wheel, not the complete stuff :

What is your truggy configuration ?

Jahay 05.03.2010 02:53 PM

im running a 1520 motor in a 14lbs savage MT on 6s 6500mah!!! Big batteries!!! BIG WEIGHT! i havent really had the chance to run it properly yet... Just completed building it... Its geared to 55mph

nuz69 05.03.2010 02:56 PM

Ooook, that is H E A V Y :D
You've done a Thread on your conversion ?
The first time you run, just check the motor temp after a few minutes of bashing and it will be ok, my MBX5T is probably between 11 or 12 lbs...

Jahay 05.03.2010 03:08 PM

here is my build up...http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26750

i am actually thinking about building a second lightweight racer savage and putting this motor in it and gearing it to 40mph and then using my current frame for a new twin motor setup...

which is this thread http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26816

ill have it out this weekend with some pics and my temp gun at the ready...

i took it out the other week for 5 mins with new gearing which i hadnt calculated and it was running very hot... i got home and worked out the gearing... IT WAS GEARED TO ROUGHLY 75mph!!!NO wonder it was running hot hot hot!

Hello guys, here is some pictures with 2.4Ghz system installed, it is not very clean with this purp stuff, but that's enough clean and secured for me

The NEU-CC 1520/1Y handles very well the truggy, with 70% punch control, it is very smooth and offers a lot of controllability. The motor run just as cool as it can be and runtimes are just insane ;) 30 min with 6S 4000mAh.
I don't regret my choice, compared to other motor like 1515 1Y or tekin truggy motor that would run a lot hotter and less efficient than my big GreenMonster :lol:
Now I'm convinced that there is no "too powerfull" motor for a chassis and that we better have to choose a bigger motor than a too light motor for a given application :yipi:

30mins on 4000mah!!! So hopefully i will experience a little more run time with my 6s 6500mah batts... will keep you updated as my motor is pushing around a 14lbs pig of a truck haha

Nice pics!!! trugyy looks good... i know what i want to be building eventually....
Also what did you use on teh rear a arms to protect the shafts etc..????

itbvolks 05.06.2010 08:39 AM

30min with 4000mah.....

Maybe messing around the yard but there's zero chance that'll happen at the track under full chat under "race" conditions. If i had to guess, you'll see 15maybe 20 min max depending on track conditions/setup.

Looks pretty good though. Certainly a big motor.

nuz69 05.06.2010 08:55 AM

4S 5000mAh setup gives 12-15min in a truggy geared for 40mph, 6S 3300mAh gives a little more for the same speed (better efficiency), so i expect to have at least 20 min runtimes under race conditions. 30 min is the runtimes of bashing, 45min-1H if I walk with the truggy in the park :lol:

nuz69 05.06.2010 05:05 PM

Test in track condition done !
19-20min on hard pushing (ratio 15/46) :yipi:, motor temp after 1 run : 100F :yipi: (ambient temp was 57F).
This motor has a fantastic amount of torque, it can reach its max RPM instantaneously and with 70% punch control its just soooo smooth :D
I even don't want to gear up, the ratio is just perfect for bashing or racing, and gives me the efficiency I wanted since the beginning of this project :D
Guys told me that my chassis was in fact a "prospec" MBX5T :yipi: I suppose its bette then a normal MBX5T ???:yipi:

Jahay 05.06.2010 05:13 PM

nice to see your happy with yoursetup... I have just put my 18t pinion adn 47t spur in and loctited everything... hopefully it will be ready for tomorrow. I will get a vid hopefully and temp readings... Im interested to see how the motor fairs in a larger truck... (Bare in mind im only bashing so im not on throttle continouslly
