I'll try to get a picture up tonight but I double checked last night and I have no clearance issues with just mounting the shocks to the outside of the arm.

I am using the FLM towers with the LST2 shock mounts and everything just seemed to line up...

I think I lied to you - mine are mounted behind the axle, the spacer on the bottom goes inside of the arm.

No progress on the chassis yet :whistle::whistle:

However i received a Turtle Racing Baja Front shock mount - With a little tweaking it bolted straight up... these should so a great job of protecting the tops of the shocks and tie the front of the shocks together.

The Baja mounts were perfect for mounting another set of LEDs... :intello:

I just found my way to this thread. It's looking awesome, can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve, especially with no body. What are you up to?

I'll be lurking:yes:

Tire suggestions... Hunting around and have found/have...

- Set of 4 "front" Baja bowties - Worried too narrow only 2.5inches vs 3.3 for terra pins / or proline rears

- Set of Baja bowties (front and rear)

- Set of Excavators (only come in rear - worried a little about weight -

- Terra Pins

See them at work

I have the terra pins already on 17mm rims - Maybe I'll just run them for a bit before slashing on the Baja stuff...

Still no sign of a chassis... :(

If you wish to put them on different rims they bake right off, the HPI glue sucks and releases at 300degrees in 15 minutes. Hardley any crystalized CA residue is remains, if so it'll flake right off.

Baja require 24mm adapter which don't exist yet (HPI stuff is still on order); you can use the 23mm adapter for the Savage from ProLine but requires wrapping some metal tape around to get a snug fit.

On my 5B/T Savage build I am using front and rear Baja 5B ProLine Badlands.

They are also heavier than most of the 8th scale tires. Personally I have been running, on my XL, Big Joes and Badlands.

Arct1k 06.07.2010 08:34 PM

This hopefully will be an FLM 5B at some point... TCS has the 24mm adapters on backorder at a good price or was going to do the 23mm...

Reality is I should just wait until i get it built and see what looks good...

JThiessen 06.07.2010 09:02 PM

I'm really looking for the tire manufactures to play some catch up here. Seems their design(s) haven't been keeping up with the speeds and power levels that brushless systems are pushing now. Might actually be time for some thing that emulates belting.

I'm intrigued by the 5B rears. Been looking at them for a while, but still waiting for "used" prices to come down on them before I give them a try. I'm actually going to run my Flux for the first time since I rebuilt it last fall....You guys that have nice weather all year long need to appreciate what you have!
