I got the 12t pinion from my LHS. its made by Robinson Racing:027:
Stampy, did you see my vid with the SS 5800? |
What acceleration level do you have the controller set to? It makes a big difference in the initial performance. When I set my 12s at "very slow," the takeoff is indeed very slow for about the first 50 feet. Then the motor suddenly explodes with speed and can flip the pede on its lid. It's almost like the motor has a turbo or nitrous on it with that setting.
If I set it to "fast" acceleration, it is almost uncontrollable from takeoff. Even small throttle inputs can flip the pede. I haven't even tried "very fast." I find that I like the "slow" setting best for my pede. It's a good combination of control and speed. For my MT2, though, I prefer the "fast" setting, since that truck can't wheelie as easily. I still haven't tried "very fast" for it yet either. |
It was set on slow when I got it, but now its at fast. I'm gonna try that and see how I like it. I might bump it down a little bit though.
What timing should I set the Lehner 5300 at? It was 0, and I bumped it up to 6 degree. I haven't run it with the advanced timing, but I'm just wondering what you guys are using? |
Mine is set at 0. I haven't tried advancing the timing yet. I think 0 is recommended for 2 pole feigao's. The lehners might be able to handle some advance, though, but I'm not sure.

Did you get those dogbones yet? I have never liked them myself. I've only broke a stock shaft a time or two(ususally my fault). They are pretty strong even with the strongest BL motor. If you are going for the bling factor then the dogbones could help.
|
Oh I'm not going for a bling factor at all. I broke 2 stock shafts, so I did some research. The Traxxas steel outputs and Street Sport axles are supposed to be weaker then the stock plastic ones. Everbody I've talked to with a Stampede or Rustler hate MIP CVD's, so I figured the HPI dogbones were my only option. I will give them another shot before I ditch them too.
|
I fail to see why everyone hates the MIP cvd's for the stampede, I use them on my RC10 T2 and T3 without a problem. Infact I use them on all of my cars except my custom B3 and my Emaxx.

nice pede f150dan looks very powerful. and it is.
very fast, and would like to compliment you on the great work you put into that truck. Keep It Up!:) |
Mike.L, thanks for the compliments man.:027:
Rtsbasic, I love MIP CVD's. I've ran them in everything I own except the Pede and Rustler. They messed up when they made them for these models. They are weak and too long. They limit suspension travel by at least 1/4in. Thats why nobody likes them in a Pede or Rusty. |
I run the dogbone setup in my Rustler. It works well, and I've only bent one dogbone. But, the axles can be tricky sometimes. The dogbone part of the axles is weak, and I've broken one of those. The cups that attach to the differential have held up well, with the exception that one of mine has a groove in it from the dogbone. It still functions properly, though.
These problems here have been over the course of about a year, so you can see that the dogbone setup can hold the power of a BL/Lipo setup that can push out over 1000watts! |
I've had excellent luck with the MIP's I have on my Rustler.
They are a lot stronger than my transmission is. I blow trannys out regularly, but have never had a problem with the CV's, -other than the pins coming out. By the way, f-150 dan, -glad to see you went with what you did. I was the guy over at the other forum that steered you in the Lehner direction. Very nice truck by the way. Gear that sucker up and see what she does. The worst thing that will happen is it will go thermal, -then you back off a tooth or two and call it a day. |
yeah that pede is dope...i have one question where'd you get that motor guard i need one for my bl rusty!
|
I have the swami bar for my pede and the swami skid plate for my rusty. You can find them here.
