Yep, newer Emaxx transmissions are far superior to the original Emaxx trans.
Other option I would consider is a center diff using the RC Monster mount if you're looking for more truggy action. |
Nitrostarter, I am still deciding truggy or monster truck. Interesting that you ask that too, I will know soon.
either way , center diff is the way to go these days
I agree center diff is hip but I still like a transmission if going for monster truck look and feel.
Well, since I already have some steel drive-shafts for this build; Traxxas tranny with metal gears, will be the way I will go. For the upgrades for the other trucks I will look into center diffs as a option as well. Thanks gentlemen, your experience is helpful in this build and upgrades for the other E-Maxx trucks.
FYI Nitrostarter, I contacted Traxxas tech-support and they said there is only one metal shaft and one metal gear in those trannies. I'm still researching :eyes: for those metal gears in the brushless EMAXX transmission.
This is the only one i no off? cost a bit off $$$!
Also don"t no alot about the maker of them or how good they are???? http://www.ebay.com/itm/GorillaMaxx-...MAAOSwpzdWtCHu WEB |
WEB, Yep! I did see that on eBay. There's another one for sale as well. It seems no one is making metal gears any longer, for the E-MAXX 3905, 3903 or 3908 tranny. However, i am still looking.
u are looking for a set of Ultramaxx gears I guess....
they are pricey .... :) |
Tinuss, the question is; are they the only manufacture? Yes - they are priced high.
The Ultramaxx gears are for the original Emaxx trans. Top input shaft was metal from Traxxas then UE made steel idlers to fix those. That left the output gears to be destroyed which is where the Ultramaxx gears came in. They would be the only manufactured gears for the original transmission.
Nitrostarter, that's good to know. I may check some local machine shop shops to see what I can come up with. Of course, I will need the existing gears to see if they can duplicate them in metal.
The key to Ultramaxxed gears was the idler gear it was made out off Ampco 18 which is a
blend off Brass and Copper which made it not wear the aluminum gear and the top steel gear! it holds oil really well! that what i have read any way! just my 2cents worth=) WEB |
Honestly though, if you are going with a newer Emaxx transmission, get the one from the current brushless version. I doubt you'll blow it out.
Thanks you WEB and Nitrostarter! The only reason I was considering metal gears for the 3905's was to upgrade. I did research the durability of the brushless tranny and discover they were very durable.
