where can i get this emoli?
|
Go to www.rcgroups.com. There's a thread in the airplane batteries area about emolis for sale.
|
You can also get the packs that need to be disassembled off of Ebay (Milwaukee packs):

How do you charge EMOLI's?
|
Lipo's, safety, and "THE SACK"
Look at this video or visit the site and go to the "Lipo SacK" under the products page. There is good reason to be concerned with lipos if you don't handle them correctly.
My attempt to upload the video failed. Go to the site and check it out! http://www.purehobby.com/ |
What battey chargers are you guys using on Lipo's and/or LI-ION's?
Do the EMOLI's ise LI-ION chargers? |
Emolis are charged exactly like lipos, but they are much more impact resistant than lipos and can be discharged more deeply than lipos without damage. I charge mine with a Schulze 330-d.

I'm soon gonna have the E-Station 701. Great charger from what I here.

He may have also cut the end off an extension cord and wirenutted the ext. cord to the battery pack too. I know they forced the issue but there has been sooo much talk about the LiPo fires it makes you wonder what the real deal is. Are the fires cause by gross user error or by simple mistake?
|
Usually it's from carelessness in starting/checking the charge. I don't think I have heard of a Lipo fire that wasn't preventable - either by being more careful or by monitoring the charge more.
|
I think that most of the fire talk started way back when the lipos first hit the market and people were trying to charge them on old chargers and stuff and were not aware of the dangers. The chargers now days are all much more user friendly and many have logical double checks built in for saftey. If you dont try charging a damaged pack and you are using a decent charger and have half a brain about it and take the proper care you are not going to have issues.
If you do stupid stuff, you will get bad stuff in return.... |
I'm sure that is all true, but when they do fire up, they do it in a BIG way from all the videos I've seen. NiMH/NiCD might pop and smoke with maybe a little flame if short-circuited, but I can't imagine they cause as much collateral damage.
Too bad those E-Moli cells weren't so darn big and heavy. |
Actually, I've heard of the NiMh cells not insenerating like the lipos, but literally exploding. The guy said the was a mushroom cloud at least 10 feet tall...
|
I've heard similar of Nickel cells exploding with shrapnel. That could be with older NiCd cells, but I'm not sure on which type.
