you can fit a mod 1 ofna spur on the RRP, with a bit of love and patience, you should be able to manage it.

Did you heard about the slipperential or a slipper captain?

coolhandcountry 08.10.2006 11:58 AM

They have a rrp for the mgt. I don't know if they interchange or not. mgt has mod 1

No, I hadn't. But...already have the RRP, and I'm getting anxious to get this think up, running, and tested before we head to the beach on the 29th.

Is Mod1 different than 32P? My guess is that they are a different profile, with the same pitch. I see that Associated has 32P also. I'm also having a machinist buddy of mine try to bore out the stock traxxas pinions to fit the Fiego. Basically, I'm at a point where I either need to find a spur to fit the Mod1 pinion, or find 48P pinions that I can get on the fiego.

The associated monster gt is a mod 1 pitch. It is bigger teeth and metric. I think it breaks down to alike a 24 pitch.
The 32pitch is about the same a a 0.8 mod gears.

I searched about every gearing vendor I could find, and I dont believe anyone sells a Mod1 spur in anything over about a 48T. I need a 66 minimum. Anybody need a Mod1 15T?

I think I was mistaken in my earlier searches for a 48P gears, the stock emaxx gears are 32P, arent they? Hopefully we'll be able to get the stock pinions reamed to 5mm (.1969).

Ok, ok...Seems to be a bit of confusion here. The Mod1 is like what a Revo uses. It is rather large compared to 32P. 32P is the standard for the E-Maxx...Mod1, with the larger teeth, won't have to have 66 teeth to be the same size as a 66 tooth 32P gear. Understand? You can do as Serum said and put a Ofna 51T mod1 spur on the RRP or get a 32P pinion.

I just got confirmation that Mike shipped the 32P gear to me. I'll be the first to admit, I'm really confused about the gears (and the wiring)! And to think that I studied gear design back in College......must have been before I killed all my brain cells.

I think I'm still going to try to ream out the stocker pinion gears. If I get get it down, they would be an inexpensive alternative for finding the right ratio's.

Mike recommended that I start off running 15/66. When we head to the beach, its been my experience that I should probably gear down for the sand. Any thoughts on that, and or how far to be prepared to go?

squeeforever 08.10.2006 06:23 PM

If you gear down, just go with 1 tooth at a time. But I don't think you should need to gear down. I have tried to drill out the stockers but it doesn't really work.

JThiessen 08.10.2006 06:57 PM

We dont think drilling will work very well either. So we are going to try a .125/.187 step drill, then ream it to final size, that is if I can find a #8 reamer somewhere locally. We'll chuck it up in a mill to do the work so we can keep the speed way down and keep it normal to the gear.

Now, I'm sorry for changing the topic, what things do I need to make a centerdiff in a G-Maxx chassis? I'd go with either a Super Torsen or 8 Spyder diff, but what else?

squeeforever 08.10.2006 07:59 PM

Mikes slipperential would be the best way to go...

captain harlock 08.10.2006 08:02 PM

Would it fit nicely in the chassis?

sjcrss 08.10.2006 08:14 PM

it's going to be a direct drop in from what I have seen

squeeforever 08.10.2006 08:15 PM

Yup. Direct fit for the Gorillamaxx chassis.
