It depends how big your track is, and how long the straights or or how technical it is. At most tracks, you you would only get to about 35 on the longest straight. Maybe 40 if you are lucky and it is a big track. I would personally aim for 40mph, and then if it is too fast, just tame down the ESC a little.

i still dont have a track to go to, so for bashing maybe around 40mph?
|
this really blows, they tought it was in the package they got,
but its not in there. :035: :035: :035: :035: :035: :035: :035: :035: :035: :035: |
Usually 40mph is all you will need. I personally however, like the extra speed for bashing, so I would aim for 45mph about, and then just tame it down if need be.
|
how fast would a nitro run if it tops out?
|
3.3 Revo's and T-maxx's are advitised at 45+ mph...
|
i see.
i actualy knew that. but good news, the truggy is in the shop. i'm probly gonna pay today, then it should be shipped saturday or monday, to arrive the next work day. |
I don't know about those advertised speeds on the Traxxas trucks. I mean, they will go that fast, but the engine probably won't last more than two gallons of fuel being tuned for that kind of speed.
I don't know if you've ever actually clocked a big truck doing a real 45mph, but that is FAST. You kind of have to push a 4S system to get 45mph in a truggy and things will start to heat up. You can do it more easily with a 5S system, but I think it's still too fast, even for bashing. I'd be more worried about gearing for good running temps so that you don't have anything to worry about while you're having fun. Then, if the occassion should arise, where you need more speed, then you can just do a quick gear change. |
great news man. the 8ight 8t is high on my list as nice vehicles.
But i heard nothing but good things about the xray, so who knows.. How much speed do you need on the track? it's better to have a 25 mph with monsterous grip that is hitting 25mph in the blink of an eye than to have a 80mph vehicle that needs a calender to clock its acceleration.. Usually the taller the track, more topend is needed. the tighter the track, the more acceleration you need. |
Yes, 40-45mph is wicked fast for an MT..
|
i didnt find a track yet, but if i do its most likely to be a 1/10th scale track.
so i should aim for slower i guess. around 30 maybe good for a 1/10 track? |
Our track is very tight with one straight about 150' long. When I was running nitro, I used to run the Novarossi P5X. It's a pretty hot engine. When I got my first one, my buggy became one of the fastest buggies on the track. Great acceleration and almost no one could keep up with me on the straight. I was thinking that my buggy was a rocket ship. One night, I took my buggy out to a parking lot where a bunch of us were just playing around and a couple of guys had radar guns. My buggy, setup for the track, clocked 33 mph. It really surprised me, because I thought it was going a lot faster than that.
|
did you top out on that straight end or did it keep pullin'?
|
Yeah, good acceleration does that. it seems to be wicked fast when the acceleration is okay.

i think i will need thicker diff oil in the center diff? also in the front?
any input on this?:032: i think i will install neu 1512 1.5y/f in the truggy.:004: its 1900Kv is good for 4s lipo, will the flightpower 4s evo 25 3700mah deliver enough juice constantly?:002: |
