this topic was brought up on rumrunners forum , these guys have both but apparently the only difference between the two is the rear endbell
http://www.rumrunnerracing.com/fefor...ehner+high+amp |
The rotor of both motors is identical, from my understanding. The stator is different , only because the wires are sticking out. The high-amp doesnt have the wye/delta changing option either:
this reduces the internal resistance, since there are less solder contacts. |
Having red a comparision (in german) between a Neu 1515 (340/360gr) and a lehner 1950 (355gr) stating there is no big difference in Power output (only different efficiency points) i think it's fair to compare a Lehner 2280 and a Neu 1527 looking at their wheight.
Wheightwise a Neu 1527 is more comparable with a lehner 2250. A Lehner 2280 wheighs 200-250gr more then a Neu 1527. It is also longer and has a bigger diameter. I think this allone should be sufficient to tell which motor can handle more power since both do claim efficiencies around 90% and both do only cook with water (or should i say copper ...). BTW windings of the Neu motors do come from Mexico. There is a good write up (in german though) on Neu Motors (with pictures and diagrams) with a comparision of a Neu 1515 and a Lehner 1950 on this site. By using babelfish you could translate this website. |
Very interesting write up....thanks for posting it

Sorry for your LMT loss and hopefully U will get it back in no time.
I do like them both Neu and LMT but I will agree that in terms of balancing Lehners are on the shy side, while none of them will match quality of pletts, just from observation and testing. Quote:
But, so far nothing then end-bell from this link. Extra charge for proper, cheaper, simpler end-bell doesn't sounds like German. What I've read some time ago (and cannot find it anymore, even on the LMT-site they now referring to end-bell difference only!?) that wire gauge was different as well... |

I agree with you said about the pletts , there quality is second to none , I have 3 brushless pletts and three brushed all ( 355's ) |

-I do love brushed 355-series, two of them were placed in my neighbors barbi-jeep you can imagine what a joy it was in conjunction with optima battery :) |
3 Attachment(s)
Something like this , I have a lathe and a CNC mill , I mod all my own and also swap the battery cables out to 8awg
Being a plett fan you should enjoy this 355/50/06 and mini berkley jet drive |

there's is such a big size difference from the neu 1527 and the 2280 hi-amp... that's why it is hard to believe that the power outputs are similar... but I hope that the neu 1527 are just as powerful... I guess we'll see when I get it... and if I ever get the 2280 back by 2010... haaahhaah
Lehner charges more for the rotors of the hi amp motors... those heatsinks are awesome, I saw them a while back when the OEMRC escs came out... I really don't think the 1527 can compare to the 2280-5 Hi-Amp... just being able to pull close to 400Amps is crazy... probably will never pull that.. Soon as I get my motors, I'll do a comparison... same batteries, same esc, same vehicle... :) Are you serious that the Neus come from Mexico?.. it worries me... but the efficiencies are great according to everyone else... |

Based on the write up i posted, Neus are assembled in San Diego (Neutronics) but the windings are handwound in Mexico.

AWESOME!!.. I really can't wait untill they come in.... :mdr:
I just wonder why the heck it's taking so long to get the neumotors in... I know the lehner, I had to wait for almost 3 months... |
