This took me about an hour to figure out why the controller wouldn't work after I checked my settings. I went thru the initial setup about four or five times and the controller would just sit there and beep. Well, I went back to the USB and noticed that it was in 2-pole motor mode-bingo. I set it back to 4-pole mode (for Neu motors are 4-pole motors) and went back thru the setup procedure and everything works fine now--whew!!!!!! Quite a scare I had there. Wow!!!! this CRT is a BOMB:surprised: And very clean looking job bude:yes: But seem to have pretty bad cogging on start??
Can you tell me the weight of your truck in RTR mode please?

Thank you!!!!!!!

tashpop 01.05.2008 10:43 AM

agreed, that thing has some nuts. just get rid of that cogging

Thanks dude. Yeah it does cog some at launch...mainly when I mash on the trigger...the problem is probably due to the gearing: 18/46. I am going to put in another order with Mike and get some more smaller pinions. I do have some smaller ones but they all are on my other trucks. As far as weight goes...I don't have a scale so I am not sure. I will say this...it is heavier than I thought it would be. When I compare it to my all aluminum emaxx trucks, I don't see a significant difference:surprised:. BTW...What kiind of scales do you guys use?

After I e-mailed Martin, I got a call back from him (That was nice) and he said no matter what the case is, they will fix it ... and that it will not take too long to do so.

He will be needing the ESC and the motor being used, which I will FedEx to him ASAP.

ohh, and if the problem is from the ESC and not the setup they will fix it at no additional cost (under warranty) ...

The good thing is that $800 will not be a total waste and the fact that they want to see the ESC and motor, indicates that even if the problem is form the ESC, they want to understand why!

I will keep you guys posted.

Az

EDIT: SO far MGM Compro customer service is an A rated

If it is the controller...Are they going to take care of the motor too?

What do you mean? take care of the motor too ... like kill it ...hehehehe

No, seriously what do you mean?

I take an electronic laboratories scale (0 to 6kg). I put a stand on the scale, make a Zero, and put my truck on the stand.

Me e-revo, with Panthers Komodo tire weigh 9.4lbs and with Proline badlands tires, it's 10.5lbs.

Very nice setup you have there ... When I first saw the vid, I was thinking why its not that fast .. hehehe .. then when I saw the wheelie .. I was YES .. that’s the way it should go.

I must of misunderstood your previous post...I thought you meant that the controller and the motor were fried. My thought was that if the motor was fried because of the controller that they should replace/repair that too. But after going back and re-reading your post I see that you wrote "both" controllers were fried...not "both" the motor and controller.

I wonder if you can get one of those scales at Home Depot or Lowes...I am not at all familiar with the brand or application. I suppose a decent postal scale could be purchased from OfficeMax.

I used Brian's speed calculator to see how fast your truck is going and it showed speeds of over 66MPH. The MGMs that I have don't cog at all.

@ssspconcepts
Truly amazing performing CRT. I like it. If even their (MGM) highest rated 6s ESC is cogging at start up then it's time to reduce pinion size. But it's always good to know the limit of newly aquired components  Would be interesting to see your highest Watt/Amp peaks. 2.5-3KW seems realistic with this high gearing and 5s Flightpower lipo.

Thanks. I have seen the videos you made...really kick butt! I like how you did the eagletree data insert.

Yeah...this is the 2700kv Neu and I was running the only extra mod 1 pinion I had (18T) with a 46T spur...so the cogging didn't surprise me. What did surprise was that it really didn't cog that bad considering the setup. I'll probably order a 12,13, and 14T set and experiment with those. Any takers on what tooth count the cogging will disappear?

I once attempted to run a Neu 1515 2.5D/F with 3S and 12/46 gearing using a MMax and I basically had to push start the darn thing to get it to go! In fact that is the first setup I had in this CRT...I got tired of messing with the MMax/Neu combo and ordered this the 1.5D/F and 22418 from Mike.

I'll the 14 tooth will eliminate the cogging, but I would like to know your setting on the MGM as well to be completely sure. The Mamba Max has trouble with motor that has a strong magnet connection with the stator. I heard some guys here are having great succes with the Mamba/Neu set up.

othello 01.05.2008 01:49 PM

I would even think that your ESC should handle a 15 or even a 16T pinion depending on grip with this very high revving motor. On 5s your motor could spin well above 50000rpm. The Neu 1512 i use already reaches 40000rpm and is geared 13/52. I thought this is already crazy.

Think about the torque you will have on tip when you gear it down. Your front (and rear) tires will have a hard time to keep up. Spin city ... Prepare to stock up on tires. But it should be fun to drive it this way
