Looks like it is coming along good. Did you receive the parts from Andrew yet?
not yet.. there were a few problems getting the stuff sent. I'm not going to meet my deadline of Dec. 4th to make the money race I was hoping to attend, but it'll be done by new years for sure.
Yep, that's my fault about the late shipping:( Sorry, I've been really busy with both machining and school.
so, I made one small mistake on the rear diffcase dimensions, and as a result, I have to design a small plate to make the rear brace attach to the diff..
Also, I'm not sure if I had used the wrong size for the Sub-C cells, but only 7cells will fit sxs flat per side.. 18 will fit total, if you build two 9cell hump packs. [btw, the lower chassis is 1/16", while the final piece will be out of 1/4"] http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/3017/imag00028qj.jpg http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/8754/imag00057nn.jpg I tried to get decent pictures of how some of the parts "lock" together.. my camera's flash hates me :( http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/4554/imag00064xw.jpg http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/5395/imag00109kc.jpg http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/9408/imag00112gp.jpg http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/4156/imag00178eu.jpg Hopefully I'll have everything straightened out and Andrew will be able to start cutting final pieces sometime next week. |
Looks amazing, I cant wait to get my final chassis and begin final assembly. Andrew did an amazing job. I like how you had the parts "lock" together.
Cool, I'm glad we cut the protos so that we found the errors now, instead of later.
It looks like a hoss and a tank at the same time
in the picture, that is only 1/16?
Yeah, but in the final version it will be 3/16.
Oh, ok. Can't wait to see the final. You think about anodizing it or something?
Hey, hows the project going? Get your final stuff machined yet?
just looked at the whole post.. that is a good looking truck. nice work on the machining and the designing also.

ok, so here's an update.
i started working on this truck, toward the end of this thread: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6529 I decided to bring the updates back to the original thread, bump :) the project was stopped and put in a box for a few years.. recently, i put it back together with the stock chassis, and started moving the electronics from my LSP-R into the smaller 1/10 truck. here's a picture of what it looks like right now. http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/7610/pc161260wu6.jpg neu 1515 2.5d quark 125b true-rc 5s1p 5Ah 5mm turnbuckles in the front, and 4mm threaded rod in the rear for braces. notice the second steering bellcrank. still have to mount the steering servo, and reciever, and finish the battery box.. oh and tear it apart to put in new diff fluid.. |
Jeez! that bad boy is swinging some power
Just a Mamba system on 3s will move one of those like a rocket! I kept breaking way to many parts in mine and moved up to 1/8th.
You might as well take the front wheels off. You aren't going to need them.
That's the non-SS version, right? If so, the diffs won't last 50 feet with that much power. You're gonna need SS diffs and aluminum diff cases to handle it.

here's how it sits, at this moment. http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/1787/p1221328yc1.jpg close clearance  http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/5285/p1221329ph3.jpg i'm tired of the snow outside, so i decided to try and snow-proof it a bit. I found the only hemlet cover in my county lol. guy at the bike shop said it was probably over 20 years old.. $5, but the mesh on top won't work to good in the snow, but I'm planning on using it in the spring/summer/fall, and it should keep the truck cleaner, keep rocks out, and still have good ventilation. http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/4148/p1221330dh6.jpg http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/5617/p1221333vh8.jpg for snow, I bought this off ebay yesterday for $8. hopefully it gets here soon.. we're supposed to get more snow tonight, and i wanna play :(. http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/2373/1000987eb5.jpg |
Love the helmet. That car is pretty sweet too. The cover for rock protection is a good idea. I was having loads of trouble yesterday with rocks getting into places they shouldn't.
