Thats friggin' sweet James!

which way is the front?

suicideneil 11.24.2008 08:20 PM

Beasty looking servo for steering. Truck itself looks rather bizzare- any thoughts on a shell?

The big servo is the front. I am trying to get almost all the weight over the front chassis. I just finished adding 12oz of weights to the new wheels (aftershock with losi claw tires), and will be putting them on soon.

That servo works great!!! I plan to make a low tight fitting tube body and make some panels for it out of sheet plastic.

brushlessboy16 11.24.2008 10:08 PM

You should make it a tow truck, have a servo actuated arm, and put broken trucks on the back section of the frame...

You and shaun should get together and make some money:lol:
hey wrecks em' you pick em'

BL_RV0 11.25.2008 12:48 AM

I think you should give me your rc's.

I think I will play with the gearing a bit to get it just right. Also check out the 1/4 scale front steering servo, plenty of power there. I also repaced the rear servo with a hitec 5997tg servo for added power. I have the aftershock wheels/tires, but I want to remove the front tires from the wheels and add some weight. Still a blast to play with, easily goes anywhere I want, even thru foot deep grass!

Isn't the torque of that little motor incredible? So much in such a small package.

I'm sure you could up the gearing some if you want. Even with the additional weight and the additional drivetrain of your creation.

Looks great! Can I drive it? LOL

BL_RV0 11.26.2008 04:51 PM

Is it a problem having the front steering being so much stronger than the rear steering?

If you come down you are more than welcome to drive it!!! I actually plan to run a pair of 3905 chassis and use the new emaxx tranny with the super low 1st gear for crawling, and the std 2nd gear setup for maybe 25mph. The motor definately has plenty of power, no heat to speak of on either the motor or esc.

It does have more power, but it is not that different. When I go to the 3905 chassis I will run 4 identical servos...

Ok, when I work myself silly for a long time I usually exaggerate how long it took me. Unfortunately, you caught me at the wrong time. I just came to my dad's house until tuesday and i keep my rcs at my mom's. I will get you some pics though. You could at least send me 1 rc for my efforts. Maybe some nice 6s lipos too :). Some lipos that are <120mm long... :) :)

A RC Dude 11.27.2008 05:47 PM

BL_RV0 11.27.2008 07:20 PM

Well, it is kinda gay. I have been completely restoring a 67 chevelle for a customer. We cut off everything from the back shelf to the rear of the car and had to replace it all with new sheet metal. Only thing left were the rear frame rails. I will have to say that comparing this car to my 67 fairlane it is total crap. I am a ford guy, but only from a lifetime of working on gm products. Their designs are poor at best, and somethings just make you wonder what everyone was smoking that day. I would much rather build shelves than work on this heap, but money is money...

I believe it's a green leafy drug called marijuana? just a guess though. It's a rumor I heard through the grape vine

I don't really care either. Till I have to work on their backwards crap designs. Then I wonder...

BL_RV0 12.02.2008 12:43 AM

Working on cars=more rc. Think of it that way then send me something...

lol but from what i've heard, ford has all the over complicated disigns. Like in the car my family has, you must pull the engine out so you can get to the heater core to change it (says auto tech teacher)

brushlessboy16 12.02.2008 10:46 PM

Im a ford guy... Chevy sux... and there distributer's are on the wrong side...

TDC57 12.04.2008 04:06 PM

Did you get your new chassis??

I'm looking forward to seeing an update..

lincpimp 02.25.2009 04:29 PM

Ok, got the al rear bulks from New Era in today. They are solid, with no machined pockets where they will have to be cut and tapped for the rear chassis to mount. I have my 2 bompproof torpedo chassis as well, so this truck will be much longer and stronger in a week or so. I also plan to put the new emaxx tranny with the wide ratio 2 speed in it!!! That way I can have a dual purpose crawl/basher!

Dang Linc! Those are some tough looking bulks.

This is gonna be a really neat build.

What Motor are you gonna run in it? :intello:

Probably going to run the 2826/12. Seems like plenty of motor to get to 25mph or so in 2nd. Plus it has plenty of torque, and works very well with a MM.

They are very solid bulks, that is for sure!
