Overdriven 06.08.2009 08:47 PM

you forgot to mention how you took the anodizing off or if you did at all!:mdr: Looks good man.

SpeedAssault 06.09.2009 12:05 AM

yep sure does

nope, I did not take off the anodize, i wiped it down with TSP that can be found at hardware store. I dont think it made a differance but I wanted to clean it and prep it. only time and use will tell

SpeedAssault 06.11.2009 04:36 PM

I moified and swapped in some Revo front A-arms for the rear and added Camber links, using 1/4 aluminum tube and threaded for 4mm for the titanium turnbuckles and 8/32 for the stock tie rods.

The wheels stick out about 3/8 outside the body , so I cut down the A-arms and will also machine out further inside the wheel to add more back spacing

just need to make some wheel adapters now

Wish there was a RC body like this

SpeedAssault 06.22.2009 02:00 PM

GOOD GOD MAN, This Lipo is HUGE !! Cant wait to Drive this Beast !

SpeedAssault 06.22.2009 05:38 PM

D A M M Mmmmm
Took it out for a spin and that's what exactly it did

I only had the 1/8 auto cross little wheels so it was dificult to handle at 25% throttle :surprised:

I better get the 1/5 wheels on there and let this beast FLY !!

pinkpanda3310 06.23.2009 08:53 AM

Haha lol yea , no wont forget, I just went out on the street did some video ,but I could not keep the camera on the car and drive, radio keeps me from using my thumb to steer, so cant drive it one handed with my Airtronics radio

Where do I get one of the voltage stops, my mamba monster does not have a 6s 22 volt setting. ?

pinkpanda3310 06.24.2009 09:01 AM

The default setting is number 2 which is auto-lipo. It will automatically detect how many cells and cut-off at 3v per cell.

That's on a v3, I don't know if the earlier versions are the same.

lincpimp 06.24.2009 10:27 AM

ON 6s set the lvc to 19.2v. You should be able to do this with the included pc interface cable and castle link.

Auto is so you can go between 2s and 3s.

Thanks Link, just thought 19.2 was to low since it's a 22.v batt.

Trying to get it setup on radio
The ESC lost the first config for my radio which took forever because I needed a tech to guide me through manual prgramming as he listed from the phone the beeps and told me what to do, but now the tech says it cant be done, my radio has a Brake button and also a Reverse, the CC techs say there is no Brake function that it's a back button, but there is as the tech got me working with my brake So I know it works. Just a matter of doing the same process.

I have been working on making wheel adapters to screw onto the 10/32 revo shafts and have a 8mm shaft to hold the 1/5 wheels on, but I decided to go with these,

So I get them on Monday and DRIVE IT !

SpeedAssault 07.02.2009 02:14 AM

=========== :mdr: R E V - O S I :mdr: =============
 FINISHED !!!

I found some 8mm shaft wheel adaptors that have revo 10/32 thread so I turned them down to take off the extra ridge that was on them and Presto

http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/TL290075.jpg

http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/TL290077.jpg
Got the 6s lipo
Mounted the wheels
http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/RL010081.jpg

http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/RL300084.jpg

http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/RL010076.jpg

ALL this and now the Radio wont sync with ESC anymore ! :grrrrrr:
other radio's dont work either. sending it back.
I tried driving it with my DX6 stick radio but the car is too fast to deal with a stick controls. But the car is insanely powerful It burns out at 15 mph for over 10 feet

Been wanting a pistol grip for my Crawler and now this Beast needs a reliable radio so I'm GOING TO ConVerT a Spectrum DX6i into a Pistol grip

I'll post Video

WAY cool conversion. Can't wait to see video. Wheels look great!

Tupers 07.02.2009 12:48 PM

This is a certainly a very cool car, I wish I had room for something like this.

Thanks guys :mdr:

still a few areas to redo and extend the chassis sides to keep debris out

It's a dream come true:party:

Eric G 07.06.2009 01:40 PM

1. Make a list of stuff you used.
2. Send it to me.
3. ????
4. Profit!!!
Nice conversion!

Overdriven 07.06.2009 08:18 PM

Very cool man. Hope you get your radio sorted out so you can have some fun. I want one now.

SpeedAssault 07.07.2009 01:59 AM

thanks,
since I always had trouble setting up the radio with esc and I have changed crystals, changed radio's and had no luck except using my Dx6 I sent the ESC back . Since everything worked perfect using the mamba max with the radio I suspect it's the cc monster.
they will receive it Tuesday and should have it back and driving by weekend or next Tuesday
Cant wait to try some J turns with the Rev-Osi monster !!

if for some weird reason there is interference with monster and radio I will have to rush with my Project build of a Spektrum DX6i Pistol radio

lydiasdad 07.11.2009 12:41 AM

Awesome, very nice work.

SpeedAssault 08.07.2009 05:21 PM

MAN THIS THING IS KICK ASS AWESOME !!

How Do you guys keep your Pinion on !? besides Loctite

little recap:

Direct drive
locked center
Locked rear
11:1 final ratio
14t mod 1 pinion 49 Spur

6S 4000 30 c lipo
Castle monster combo

If I gun the throttle the car rotates in air and onto it's side

The power of the 11+ lbs monster is nuts !

Once I know the pinion will stay on I will shoot some video

I have tried Blue and red Loctite !

nitrostarter 08.07.2009 05:25 PM

Have you coated the entire shaft with Loctite? I had that problem on a truggy. I coated the entire motor shaft generously with Blue loctite and then slide the pinion on. Then generously applied loctite to the set screw and tightened it down. I let it sit for at least a day. That pinion became a pain to get off needless to say.

SpeedAssault 08.08.2009 12:32 AM

thanks nitro
sweet avatar
I found a cool long Pinion that has two set screws. and I'll try your idea

It really matters what support tech you speak to there seems to be only TWO good techs at Castle Creations, JOE is a PRO with the MAx and MONSTER AND setting up your RADIO. He calmly and politely listens and accepts that the old radio I use that does have a BRAKE button can and does work on my ESC's the other guy tells me there's no such thing and the ESC is not set up to do it.

SO with that I have my Mnster ESC working with my Old am 27mhz Airtronics XL2P That has a "BRAKE button"
HE also help trouble shoot that I had a poor performing Receiver, unlike the other guy that just got angry
THAnk you Joe, you are the man !

so I hope to get some video soon

today I was driving it and Pulled full throttle and it leaped in the air sideways and landed on it's side ! Remember it's almost 3 feet long and 15" wide and over 10 lbs !
Speed was hard to reach in front of my house but probably reached 50
that's insane power

swapping from a 14 pin to a 17pinion 9.5 final ratio , maybe calm the torque a little

NickRummy 08.24.2009 04:57 PM

Do you have any 1/4 oval tracks by you? We have one local to us. This would be a blast on a track like this!

http://www.freddiesasphaltoval.com/

SpeedAssault 08.24.2009 08:03 PM

I DID NOT REALIZE THAT 6S WAS GOING TO BE SO DeSTRUCTIVE !:surprised:

Updates:
Things broken
Welds on extended steel drive shafts, 5 times
tooth on steel 49 spur gear
Front Diff coller busted
knuckle ball popping out 3 times
Pinion gear coming loose 4 times
Motor coming loose 2 times
Rear shock came off
curb jump collision-- broken body mounts
lost pin in revo shaft
Wheels coming unglued

The car has been very difficult to drive straight once it's reaches over 40mph
so I glued in windows for the rear body as they were cut out from Original owner.
That did the trick along with adding aluminum strips on the bottom of the body also 2 more lower body mounts. total 6
The car now drives straight and is more controllable

cut out vent in front grill and adding tubing to help cool motor/ESC

I took it to the track, hoping to use the track before they closed down and took it apart, but the battery took 1.5 hrs to charge ( charger was hot)
they had already disasemble the track but I drove on the tire marks for a bit, car did much better, then broke the front diff coller that was stock and drilled out to fit the larger losi diff.
A 1/8 nitro racer came over and told me the body is a very poor race body, they just don't well and that my aluminum sway bars need to be steel

Time to make some Aluminum diff collars and steel sway bars

LOOKING FOR Grooved 1/5 tires Please PM mE

littleazn248 11.07.2009 02:26 AM

Hi there I noticed that you're using a custom chassis what are the dimensions? I'd love to do a similar project. So will Road Rage tires fit in the wheel wells of the body? By the way i also noticed you live in the Bay Area are you part of the M2 Hobbies forum yet?

Thanks

Kcaz25 11.09.2009 01:41 AM

Long live the E-Maxx in all its forms! Have been watching the build all along! Its great! How is it going?

Uhh are you talking to me? Are you from RCU, M2 or BYT? or Youtube? Yea I've been checking this forum out for a while admire the creativity waiting to pick up an ezrun and kingmotor baja when i go to HK. But when i comeback :diablo: oh yeah fun fun fun. I figured during my 16 hr flight I'll design the chassis and when i come back i'll use the good ol CNC :yipi:. Problem is i need to know the dimensions and what wheel nuts he using. That help alotttt.

Kcaz25 11.10.2009 10:19 PM

Um... have you read the whole thread? What specs are you talking about? Dimensions? Chassis length and width?

littleazn248 11.11.2009 12:13 AM

Yea I've been through all the pages of the build process. The information i am seeking though is super specific because I cut all my chassis on CNC (unfortunately not mine). I was hoping that i could get the distance between the front and rear bulkheads. I was also curious did you have to modify the bulkheads to fit in a revo arm?

littleazn248 11.12.2009 11:31 PM

hmm i've been doing some research and cant seem to fine the wheel adapters you are using towards the end i see the OSH ones but i want to get ones like you use towards the end. You are using FG racing wheels right?
