3.2 v is pretty conservative. Your lipos will last there lifespan taken care of that way. I now milk mine to 3.0v dropping to 2.95ish sometimes, it takes alot more balancing to get them right but that extra 4 minutes at the track is worth it. Im sure someone here can chime in i think its 2.6v before the things fubared

Rivermaxx 08.09.2009 01:39 PM

So 2.99 -3.00 volts should fine on the charger discharge setting @ a 1 amp draw. I ran one completly on the discharge cycle and it seems to balancing better when charging. I want to buy some 4s packs obviously I want best bang for the buck. Has anyone here used these pack yet http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=9515

Finally finished and all I can say is Wow! way more power than I expected. I changed some thing around though like exchanged the vbs for GA bulks with sweetstrobes and UE 8 spider diffs. Heres some pics:

Look what I just recieved a g-4 chassis,it is about 10mm shorter than the g-2 maxx with the monoblock. I really like the layout and I think my g-2 and tranny is going to be sacraficed to the ISC competition thats being held in fontana ca in november. I just built this thing and now I am going to have to take it back apart again. Here more pics:

Nice Build!!! The Gorillamaxx trucks always look so bad ass! Anything special with your tranny. I keep breaking things in my tranny. The latest thing to go is the pin in the top gear. Why did you remove the VBS?

Rivermaxx 08.13.2009 11:58 AM

I did the pin mod and put in a solid pin intead of the weak roll pin. Other than that Its obviously a single speed g-maxx with a UE idler gear. I removed the vbs because this thing is too fast and if hit something @ 60mph+ I would just cry if anything happen to it especially @ ~$650 a pop not to mention no spare parts are being made anymore. So put it on my now full blown nitro supermaxx that I dont plan on running that much anymore. I also want to lower the body more and the vbs towers wont allow this and duh titanium towers will. Who knows I might put it on the g-4 maxx chassis because that will look awesome. Here the pics of the vbs setup that my previous links broke on earlier in the thread:

Since I am not getting any traffic I will post this here because it is a gorillamaxx. http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22943

sweetride4me 08.30.2009 10:34 AM

you find the right 4s packs to run in parrallel yet Beau???? If not I have ones I'm using that are great I'll send you the link if you want LMK

Rivermaxx 08.30.2009 11:09 AM

Send me the link, The turnigys I was going to get are out of stock again and they were very inexpensive. I am sort of holding off untill I know if I am going to have to buy another set of batts for my high speed build also,

sweetride4me 08.30.2009 04:47 PM

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=8916

That's what I'm running in parrallel and LOVE them... total charge time on my 0606i is about 60 mins a pack from LVC on my MMM :mdr:

Rivermaxx 08.30.2009 06:05 PM

Those are pretty good but for a <$3 more money these would probably be better with a little longer run times minimal weight difference but wow 180 amps . http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=9498
So many choices.

Rivermaxx 09.03.2009 08:11 PM

All I have to say is the power of this beast still amazes me. I took it out and did a high speed run with untaped old maxx proline bowties and got it to got 52mph on radar before things got out of hand and ran out of room. At ~30 mph I will still do wheelies with the monoblock and setbacks.(almost 2 inches longer than stock. Now I am going to strip it down and get the lighter high speed version going. I am going to start a new thread on this though . I will continue this build with the new g4 maxx chassis. It should be interesting I might change a few things around.
http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/CIMG2476.jpg
I really like the layout of this chassis and it definatly stronger than it looks. The only issue I can see is the way the battery sits in the chassis. I am concerned where it lays and the battery hits on the top chassis plate. Its probably not a big deal but I dont want to open up a cell or anything.

Rivermaxx 09.28.2009 02:56 PM

I figure I should update this as to the current state of build. As some of you know the g-2 chassis has been sacraficed to the high speed project. This is the new Silverback, no mono because it only about 10 mm shorter than the old chassis with the mono installed . I figured with suck a low cog I could probably get away with it. Here some pics:

suicideneil 09.28.2009 05:44 PM

Curious, it looks very different with the G4 chassis coupled with the UE suspension vs the old look.

I would stick the monoblock on anyway- more cool points  :mdr:

Rivermaxx 09.28.2009 07:47 PM

I could put it on but I need to clearence the mono so it will fit correctly. I am going to try it out like this for now. I am thinking with such a low cog the bottom of the chassis wont hit as much either with the slightly shorter wheelbase. Funny thing is the rear 110mm titanium dogbone was tight in the other chassis with the mono and it loose with this chassis without the mono. Probably just trans placement.

nitrostarter 09.28.2009 08:22 PM

Yeah, I think tranny placement has a lot to do with the fit of that dogbone. Its completely different.

I hope GMaxx uses fast shipping! I'm anxious now!

Rivermaxx 09.08.2010 01:41 PM

Well I sold most of my UE stuff and going to rebuild this baby with a mono and some rpm trutrac suspension for more of a budget build . I was so very careful with my nice shiny aluminum UE VBS and Racerx suspension I didn't want to scratch it up. With this set up I believe I will have more fun and not have to worry about it getting scratched or bent when I am bashing. In these hard times spending money on hard to get UE items is not as easy as it use to be. Silver back was a awesome build but its getting a budjet rebuild and the mono block should make it the same length as it was with the setbacks. BTW My 81.7 mph ISC record for open wheel was broke by a buggy going ~91 mph. Thinking about a redo and try and reach that magic 100mph mark. I learned alot from the first meet and with a little money might be able to do it.

feistyacorn 09.08.2010 02:01 PM

Sorry to hear that you had to sell it, glad to hear that you are building a new one. I always enjoy a good old RC build. :intello: It would be bad ass if you can break 100 this year! Good Luck!

My last and final Maxx build

I figure I will post this over here also because some of you guys are not UE members or visit ther to often.

You guys are saying "Yea right! " lol . I am pretty sure this is it, after owning a lot of different types of trucks from full blown Supermaxx with VBS, super6 OTB geared trans with a EB modified Novarossi 528xrp to a predator lite-race. I pretty much settled on this one being affordable while being fast and functional at the same time. Of course it has UE, mixed with a plethora of other parts that took a little modification to make work. I picked the Gorillamaxx G4 race chassis not only because I like it but I believe its the most recent aftermarket chassis design that out there as of now. The light weight low cog chassis with a brushless power plant make this chassis my personal favorite. While its not all UE it has an assortment of UE parts to make it even better. I wanted to build the truck to be way more affordable than your average Supermaxx truck but still function and hold up the the brushless power. Heres some pics of it almost completed. I will go through the list of part I used and some the issues I had and their fixes later.

Heres the first mock up pics:
It has exactly 15" wheelbase with the monoblock installed. Had to clearance the chassis a bit and the mono for it to fit perfect.
http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/CIMG3174.jpg
Savage xl shaft fits perfect and is cheap. Here it is compared to a Thunder 100.5mm bone.
http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/CIMG3183.jpg
I am running rpm arms and bumpers because when I hit a wall going 60-70mph @ the ISC event and nothing happen to the old style rpm arms on the G2, I figured I couldn't go wrong if I wanted something that will take a hit. Not to mention lifetime warranty if they break. I do need to clearance them a little because they rub on the front of the upper plate and a little on the bulks.
http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/CIMG3177.jpg
I cant decide on knuckleheads with die maker Dave's wing mount or a set of lighter DUH titanium towers with built in wing mount. Either way one of them is getting sold.
http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/CIMG3178.jpg
RPM Trutracs not racerx but hey I am on a budget lol.
http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/CIMG3184.jpg
Traxxas cvds because the UE wont fit the new style carriers. The UE Ultralites 6 spiders need modding in order for these to fit correctly. More on that later. Sucks because I had to sell 2 8mm sets of ue cvds and 4 sets of 6mm because they wont fit.
http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/CIMG3179.jpg
I am going to mod the rpm skid so they will fit. The longer lcg chassis will tend to scrape more then a typical maxx so I might as well protect it.
http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/CIMG3181.jpg
Thats it for now but please feel free to comment, any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

Kcaz25 10.14.2010 01:22 AM

I would love to see and hear about the DUH towers. That is one of the last items I would like to try for my maxx. Its hard to justify the purchase for my self, especially since I would have to buy shorter shocks and I have like enough shocks to fit 6 trucks -8 trucks.

Cool stuff man.

_paralyzed_ 10.14.2010 01:44 AM

Thanks for posting Rivermaxx, I love your builds and cannot access UE forums.

It's a shame they allowed a buggy to beat your speed record. They should have a monster truck class. You still hold the record in my eyes.

DUH made 2 different towers that will fit the maxx bulks. The short ones (like in my highspeed build) are made for the ofna dominator conversion and alow use of shorter shocks. They also made a standard size that work with stock size shocks.
Standard duh maxx tower below:

Thanks Harold for the support. The class is open wheel and who knows there another meet coming up. I should just get a buggy and smoke the new 91 mph record. I am pretty sure my e-maxx was the fastest ever e-maxx that is offficial anyway.

Yea, but I am not sure I like how the body mounts work with them. You have to cut them which I can do but its a pita.
