Im waiting for a new pinion.. i drilled one of the stockers out to 5mm, but it threw the setscrew....
Whenever eovnu brings his to school so i can get it- i will have vid. |
Bought an 8xl w/ rcm Heatsink clamp off finnster for the maxx :)
Should be here by next monday, My mamba max is in transit- as are my 8cell bateries. I leave for manchester New Hampshire tommorow morning- so everything should hopefully be here by monday :) |
The idlers will not give up right away. It took awhile for my stockers to go.
|
The 8xl arrived today, will be installing everything today after school (boo HSPA's) and Im sick as a dog.
Our robotics team ended up qualifying 8th out of 47 at our competition... then lost in the first round of eliminations. due to one of our alliance members bot's(team 1519) not working... The |
Something Went in the transmission.. was running out in the snow and watched a small fragment of something go flying out of the truck then had no power to the wheels. upon further inspection there is a gauge mark on the top of the transmission where a pin(i think) came out the top.. And now the top gear shaft and slipper can slide in and out of the transmission about 1/2 inch. I tried the truck out in 1st gear to diagnose, and found nothing, but in second the truck runs fine until the top shaft jumps out.. this leads me to beleive that the 1st gear roll pin came out..
What do you guys think. Can i tell you that it is a PITA to get the trans out of an emax.. |
Lol, a revo tranny is no better!
|
Yep, roll pin has left the building!
Its not that hard to remove an emaxx tranny really, only 8 screws... |
Wow, it launched out!!!!
|
I wanna see pics of everything.

Sounds like the input shaft roll pin. Use a piece of an allen head wrench or a steel drill bit cut down to fit. That with steel idlers and your tranny should be rock solid. |
Yeah, i replaced it with an allen wrench end. The idlers have 0 wear as far as i can see. :)
Have to send the pics from my phone. they will be up later |

Nice to see the 8XL is back to destroying maxx trannies :)
It did even kill an allen wrench fix once. Then I drilled out the hole a bit and used a bigger pin. G/L |
I hope this one will stay together, thanks for the motor finnster :)

I think i blew the rear diff, tell me what you think
http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...PICT0012-1.jpg |
Hell, the diff will go out in any car if you put it on carpet and "test the diff"
I would run it until it doesn't run no more. Then you know it's broke. |
now its ticking. and its reallly annoying.. great, now i gotta buy diffs :)
|
Glad to see my MM found a good new home! Also glad to know that it doesn't shut off and on with your setup like it always did in my Maxx.
BTW, do the tranny flip, lock it in 2nd, and mount the ESC in the back, its a much better layout IMO. |
FLM hybrid bulks with Hot bodies 1/8 diffs ahve been rock solid for me.

Search for its-me's thread about using a lst diff on your maxx bulkhead. I think that's the cheapest alternative.
|
My only problem with that is how will ig get my speed back, it throws all my ratios in the trash
|
What spur/pinion are you using right now? I'm too lazy to read the rest of the posts.

Gearing and 5s. My Neu 3906 is crazy fast:intello::yes: |

I just checked (because I am senile and forget:oops:) that is the gearing I have also 51/20. With that gearing and 5s I cannot keep untaped tires on my rims. They just rip off. :gasp: If speed is what you want that setup will not let you down.
|
yanked the maxx apart, found out that the diff was not dead, my rear cvd came loose, and the sound was the setscrew in the cup jumping on the pinion shaft
|
FYI, with hybrid/ UE diffs you only need to use a pinion 1 tooth larger to get the same ratio as with stock diffs (2-3 teeth smaller on the spur works too).
