This is at my "dorm." (Uncle's House) At home it's about the same, except my upload is just 2mb or so. |
I went rummage saleing today and I got a brand new D-link wireless card for $4. I hooked it up to my laptop and compared the speed to my desktop. The desktop is wired and the laptop is completey wireless.
desktop http://www.speedtest.net/result/464127593.png laptop http://www.speedtest.net/result/807633131.png Why is my wireless laptop so much faster than my desktop? Maybe processor speed plays into it? |

This is my work PC: http://www.speedtest.net/result/808270261.png Interesting thing is that it is recommended a server in madchester ( not a typo... ) , where as my home PC is directed via Reading. Curious, think its because its done via a Sodeho proxy server ( company intranet bollocks, blocks all the good sites, and now the proxy browsers too  ). EDIT: Ah, Im on BT at home, but work is Cable & Wireless ISP. That makes sense... |
Damn I'll be glad when Verizon get's their hard-lines here...I really want that 25Mb/s!!!
