yea hes doing testing for them i guess , he got an email from them and filled out some fourm , then a few weeks later they called him up and asked if he would like to

Pdelcast 07.02.2009 01:58 PM

Right now, we are holding waiting for an issue we found with the fan to be resolved. Our fan manufacturer is making some minor changes to prevent damage to the fan windings after hard jump landings.

nitrostarter 07.02.2009 03:05 PM

I think we need to have a word with that Fan mfg so that we can speed this process up! A little intimidation from thousands of eager R/C'ers wouldn't hurt...

Gld you guys are in business with the new pick and place machine, hopefully ya'll can pump these thing out!

BrianG 07.02.2009 04:16 PM

Yeah, a little 50mph-collision-with-a-15lb-vehicle threat should do it.

fatkidjoey 07.02.2009 04:27 PM

yea i think briang has the idea how about you castle guys send me one , ill do that just send me a ESC ill smash my revo , ill even make a video :)

Kcaz25 07.02.2009 07:38 PM

This system is gonna be hard to beat for a long time... I think. Especially at or near the price of the MM like Patrick says. Is any part of the case aluminum? I really like the ESCs cases that are because the aluminum chassis they are mounted to act as giant heat sinks. But maybe the ESC is so cool running(w/fan sigh) it wouldn't matter...

Will the MM pro handle Neu 1515 series type motors? And to what extent?

NoControl 07.05.2009 09:12 PM

So is late aug the "ACTUAL" release date planned or is tower just pulling our legs? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXXWH9&P=0

damn you beet me too it...:whip:

Jarvis 07.06.2009 09:08 AM

So, in a 4S 1/8 buggy, I can use the Pro as a back-up to the MMM? Is the pro better than MMM? Can it run T8 motors in hybrid mode?

Sammus 07.06.2009 11:19 AM

From what I've read, the Max Pro is like a regular max, but has a built in switching bec, can handle 6s and sensored motors.

Since you're running 4S, it's just as much of a backup as a Mamba Max with a bec would be - the same esc setup most people used pre-MMM

The pro can run sensored motors, but the MMM can handle more power. Whether it's better or not depends what you're using it for.

I can't see why it wouldnt. There were scores of people running them through the MM in conversions before the MMM came out, and Max pro is just a beefed up MM from what I can tell.

What do you mean "to what extent" It either runs them or it doesn't...

PS.. all these initialisations are getting annoying... technically the MMM is a 'mamba monster' - there is no 'max' on the end. But we can't write MM because thats the mamba max. Now we have a mamba max pro, but there is also a mamba micro pro... ahh the confusion.

NoControl 07.06.2009 01:10 PM

Could just abreviate them as follows

Mamaba max =MM
Mamba max micro =MMu
Mamba max monster =MMM
Mamba max pro =MMP or MM+

Arct1k 07.06.2009 01:16 PM

Couple of questions for Patrick?

Whats the FET count on the MMP vs the MM / MMM?

Does it use the same FETs as the MM or MMM or a super new secret version from california?

Cheers

NoControl 07.06.2009 11:33 PM

I'm not pat but I'd guess they are the same as the MMM to be able to run 6s

Well, since the cat will be out of the bag soon anyway---

The FET count is 18, and we are using a new super-secret MOSFET (which hasn't even been released yet...) It's from Arizona though, not California. (hint, hint)

MM has 30 FETs, but power handling on the MMP will be better than the MM (better FETs, better heatsink, add fan.)

MMM has 36 FETs, and power handling is a better on the MMM due to size of the heat sink and fan.

Hoping to beat that date... But you know how it goes in manufacturing.

BrianG 07.07.2009 12:59 AM

Sweet! I'm really excited now!

Metallover 07.07.2009 01:07 AM

Pardon me if it's already been mentioned, but will there be new sensored motors coming out? With a design similar to neu? 4 pole?

Can't comment on that.

Metallover 07.07.2009 01:32 AM

understood. Make sure to let us know when the time comes though.... It's not like you can expect us to use novak motors!

*cough* Tekin *cough*

August release date is awesome! I wasn't really expecting them to be out until late this year or early next year.

Any chance of some of these superFETs making their way into the MM? Keep all the same ratings and what not but use fewer FETs to possibly bump up the efficiency a bit?

I bet you are- you wont even have to modify the esc to remove the fan! :yipi:

I bet BrianG has nightmares about fans attacking him. I would love to sneak into his house and fill it with fans so when he comes home his house is just a huge wind tunnel of forced air movement everywhere........

It's okay though BrianG, I used to have nightmares as a kid about Yosemite Sam chasing after me. One day the fans will stop haunting you.

BrianG 07.07.2009 06:02 PM

lol, it may be hard to believe, but I do have fans running in various places:

- living room ceiling fan
- master bedroom ceiling fan
- bathroom fan
- multiple computer fans (and in each of my 4 computers)
- AC/heater fans (both in the outdoor and indoor units)
- dryer fan
- MMM fans
- basement window fan; three large server fans to be exact to rid my work area of cig smoke and whatever airborne mess I happen to be making.
- refrigerator fan
- AC/heater fan in the car
- engine fan in the car
- Dremel fan
- power drill fan
- jigsaw fan
- sander fan
- circular saw fan
(not sure if the previous 4 entries count as they are part of the driveshaft - but makes the list look more impressive )
- air compressor fan
- Xtrema charger fan
- Hyperion EOS7i charger fan
- Astron 12v power supply fan (for the chargers)
- Two modded computer power supply fans (for the chargers when in the field)
- desk fan in my work office (which happens to be on right now)

I think that's it. So you see, I don't mind them at all, just not in an R/C vehicle. :na:

TexasSP 07.08.2009 09:50 AM

What about ducted fan ariplanes? Are those okay in an rc? Or turbofan jets?

Kcaz25 07.08.2009 10:01 AM

I wonder if running without the MMpro fan in any circumstance will void the warrenty?? Will the Pro fan work in a MMM.

phatmonk 07.14.2009 04:28 PM

When can I buy one of these?

Metallover 07.15.2009 12:01 AM

You can tell the pioneers by the arrows in their backs.

Or in the case of RC cars, by the flames coming out of their ESCs.

This sounds like an awesome controller and I have a use for at least two, but I'll wait until Castle has a bunch in the cars of real users and worked out the bugs.

NoControl 07.17.2009 01:11 AM

I'd still get one when they came out, due to Castles support, I mean look plenty of the more expereinced guys like, linc, brian, neil, and many others have had V1 and V2's of the Monster max's and then suddenly die at a much later time, they sent the esc to Castle and received a new V3.

suicideneil 07.17.2009 07:55 PM

My V1 MMM is still alive & kicking... :mdr:

drkdgglr 07.23.2009 06:31 AM

As we are close to the release date, kan some pics and dimensions be given?
I want to know if I should wait for this esc or if I should look for another small 6s capable controller.

edit: found this pic on rcu:
