Thomas, what does the MMPro do if the servo is pulling too much current?

Also, the servo may be very sensitive to noise from the switching of the BEC, so may try adding a cap to an unused receiver port.

tryed that, and it works, BUT it works fine with my RX8 that has a switching BEC...

Got an MMPro4600kv combo coming in the mail, i have a few questions though. Also i have read both this & the other MMPro tech thread.

Do all MMPro's including combo's (with CMS motor) come with the coupon to receive a castle link adapter chip?

The CMS motor that is advertised with the MMPro on the castle website, is it the rebuildable version? I mean is it much easier to get inside the motor with these new CMS series, to ei. change bearings, check rotor, etc...

So i had to find these questions out for myself. Got the coupon for free castle link adapter, & Im quite impressed with the new design of the CMS36 motors.

wow 100k rpm... whats the efficiency like compared to the older style

nitrostarter 11.05.2009 12:36 AM

Shit those look great! I hope they run cooler than the older ones...

snellemin 11.05.2009 12:59 AM

Hmmm, I have to get me one. Hopefully the shaft doesn't snap off like its predecessor.

It would be really great if 5mm on the shaft was an option.

These do look much better built.

lincpimp 11.05.2009 01:36 AM

2 or 4 pole internals? I am guessing 2 poles, but would be very happy with 4!!! Given the kv is the same (although the 4600 can handle 4s now with the higher rpm limit) I am guessing the internals are updated version of the old 2 pole.

rootar 11.05.2009 01:39 AM

the old 4600 motor said 3s lipo max and these say 4s..... the traxxas noobs are gonna burn those babies up quick!

and i agree i really like the style of the new motors....

I snapped a shaft off an old style 4600 just recently. been running castles motors for years, & that was a newy for me. Luckily i had a spare rotor from an old 5700. Dunno how i snapped it, i even checked my spur to see if any teeth were missing, & yeah the spur was perfect.

Lincpimp - they're probably still 2-pole & i can tell you that without even opening it up. Cost for the new ones is still the same as the older ones. But yeah i really love the new design of the CM36 motors. You can actually get into them now without having to hack away at that epoxy stuff, & the screws wont snap while tightening/loosening either!

Also notice how the endbell is fully enclosed, not like the older style where the bearing had an opening but was covered by the sticker...

Return that 4600 -- We'll replace it. We had some issues where our shaft vendor was hardening the shafts too hard, and they would snap.

snellemin 11.05.2009 12:16 PM

The LRP stock motor rotors have the same problem with snapping. I did get me a new rotor and haven't been able to snap it. The Orion's, LT-motors, x10, x11, x12 lrp, hacker, lehner never snapped a shaft in the same setup. I'm really liking the front bell on the new MM motors.

I would return it, but i live far far away in australia. Ive got a spare rotor from a 5700 i got when i first purchased a MM combo. I appreciate your comments though mate. & I know the offer is there if i need it.

& Im not trying to give you guys bad rep. Im always going to be a CC guy through & through. Besides, ive got a new 4600 motor & new esc to play with now...

BTW, i know its not needed for this application, but its going in a slash. & now MLT (my local track) is trying to put a motor limit of 10.5 in for next year, so i have room to run sensored now properly too!

It's going to open up a whole new world for castle now that they offer their motors roar approved...

Rusteh101 04.28.2010 10:36 AM

Is it possible to run the Castele Neu 2650kv motor on the MMP in an RC8 on 4s geared for around 40mph, or would that be pushing it?

suicideneil 04.29.2010 03:07 PM

That setup sounds fine to me, just about perfect for a fast/fun 1/8 buggy- for racing alot of guys use 3s with that setup, but that depends on your driving style and size of the track really ( for bashing, mo speed captain! :mdr: )..

Thomas Porfert 04.29.2010 03:17 PM

As long as were talking the buggy and not the truggy, it shouldn't be a problem at all. Just make sure you have some decent batteries and it should be a lot of fun.

Thanks for the info :)

I've got a 4s Hyperion 6500mah and a 5s Hyperion 6500mah, would they add too much weight? I could get the MMM but would prefer the MMP for the price and it's footprint, and yes it's in the RC8 buggy :)

nitrostarter 04.29.2010 03:49 PM

Stick with the 4s. 5s might push to many amps unless you maintained gearing for 40mph. I would go with a MMM if you want to run 5s.

Rusteh101 04.29.2010 03:57 PM

I suppose it's better to be safe then sorry, the MMM would fit that statement better!

I might get the MMP for my Rustler just to see how that runs on 4s with a 4600kv motor, zoom zoom!
