DUDE!!!!!!! I'm loving it.......Looks awesome. Are you going to put window's on?

zueslilbuddy 04.27.2011 08:39 AM

Thanks turned out pretty good for a super quick paint job with no paint scheme in mind when I painted it.
Yes windows are a must on these electric conversions I think, to hide the missing engine.
I probably will just make my own windows tho.

Just ordered the 23mm hexes you posted in your thread and a full set of genuine 5B rims and tires, stocker tires for now, I'll upgrade the tires in time.
Man this 1/5 scale stuff isn't cheap.
I did find a fair deal on the rim/tire combo tho, $80.00 shipped and they are new.
Should change the look of it drasticly I think.

v8hatch 04.27.2011 05:27 PM

Not cheap!!!!!! You got that right, but you do get used to it.

Yes the 5B rims and tyres will change the the whole look straight away and the windows will help finish the look off.

zueslilbuddy 05.01.2011 12:53 PM

Well my extended hexes and 5B rims and tires showed up

No video today but I did get some pics.

Bmr4life 05.01.2011 01:03 PM

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks amazing.

JERRY2KONE 05.01.2011 02:55 PM

Very nice.

Very nice in deed. I love your choice in color and the overall truck just looks considering amazing that the chassis is home made.

zueslilbuddy 05.03.2011 03:35 PM

Thanks for the positive comments guys, loving this rig, its taken its place of all time favorite.
And I been in RC over 30 years and had more than I can remember.

Still lots more work I want to do, and you guys help me want to go forward with every spare minute and spare $$ I can find.

Heres a video of some of my play testing, I finally got the steering issue I had been having corrected, so now I need to learn to drive it again lol
Improved steering and the more grippy tires its a totally different rig.

Thanks for reading and watching :mdr:

zueslilbuddy 05.16.2011 08:36 PM

Well Today the under tray showed today.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3002.jpg

Had to lower the body mounts but got it all together.

Body is so well supported and solid feeling now.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3003.jpg

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3004.jpg

Now no rocks can hit my spur gear which was exposed before.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3007.jpg

Really ties things together well.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3008.jpg

What a pain in the butt to get those spring pins in.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3009.jpg

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3010.jpg

Next will be the battery trays which I just figured out how I want to make them.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3013.jpg

v8hatch 05.17.2011 02:16 AM

It's looking good, but did you know that the undertray is mounted backwards.

Candyman2 05.17.2011 03:08 AM

looking good,

Is your chassis bent or is it my eyes, looks like it have a curve to it.

Sort of looks like it has a very slight bend. I think it could use a chassis stiffener or support that runs the length of the chassis.

Also, I've seen bodies that cover the entire chassis, like this:

http://rc-racing.no/images/detailed_...3bf8a18fff.jpg

Is it a specific body that's like that, or a specific undertray? I also noticed your undertray is different than this:

http://rc-racing.no/images/detailed_...0Undertray.jpg

Also, very nice job on this. Looks very good.

I realized that after putting it on, Its only got one screw holding it on at this point as I ran out of nuts.
I'll be swaping it around so its rite.

I think I may have my camera on some fish eye setting or something.
The chassis is just as straight as the day I cut it out from checking with a straight edge.
Even the shelf behind it has a bent look to it lol.
After testing I had done with the first chassis I had cut out, I don't think additional bracing is needed.
I propped it up on each end and bounced on one foot on the center of first failed chassis and it hardly even flexed with my 210lbs bouncing on it on one foot putting full weight + on it

zueslilbuddy 05.24.2011 02:52 PM

OK today I got off my duff and got to it, for a little while lol

Got the battery trays / chassis bracing in place, Lowered the roll cage and moved it back just a little and flipped around the
chassis skid / side panel mounts so its in the rite direction.

This sure changed its looks.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3014.jpg

Still need to cut slots for battery straps and make some stops so packs cant move around,
then pad everything a pack can touch.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3015.jpg

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3016.jpg

3s packs will fit great and when its done will be well protected.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3017.jpg

I think it makes it look much better without the big empty space that was there before.\

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3019.jpg

I think its becoming quite a rig, just need to get that center shaft made and it should be in OMG status.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3021.jpg

Bmr4life 05.24.2011 03:25 PM

Looks great with the body!!

I may have missed it, but what's your plan for the front dog bone?

I need to have a center shaft made up some where.
Its the next thing I really want to get done.

Bmr4life 05.24.2011 03:31 PM

Let me know where you get it done, I'll probably need one for a project later this year.

mac3194 05.25.2011 07:59 AM

Thanks man, yours was the inspiration even tho its gone in a different direction (trying to make it my own design) yours was the one I saw that made me want to build one.
I'm so happy I did, I don't miss the muggy one bit :mdr:

zueslilbuddy 05.25.2011 09:08 PM

Tonight I got the rest of the battery trays finished, all that is left to do is pad them, cut slots for straps, and get straps lol

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3023.jpg

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3024.jpg

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3025.jpg

Also mounted side windows I made, hated to use zipties but after I tint them they wont be as noticeable.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3033.jpg

They tilt up for battery access.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3036.jpg

One large Walmart cake from a full set of windows lol

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3040.jpg

zueslilbuddy 06.02.2011 08:31 PM

Well figured I'd put a little time in it after work today, got the front shocks rebuilt with the shorter Muggy shafts.
Then put on the Muggy shock tower.

Front shocks have a nice angle to them now.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3056.jpg

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3055.jpg

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3066.jpg

Also don't know if anyone had noticed but I had done the rear shock swap so it would look more buggy like.

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3058.jpg

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3059.jpg

I must say I am really enjoying this build.

x-y 06.03.2011 09:42 AM

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3181.jpg

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...2/DSCF3177.jpg

Much cleaner look I think.

yzinger02 06.14.2011 10:18 PM
