The rear was lowered as well. I took material off all the way around until the hood rested on the shock tower to provide additional support for the front. Also, in reference to ride height, (contrary to what is known as fact) I think low and firm, will be trumped by high and soft. Leave it kind of high but more importantly soft. Don't change the springs. At speed, it seems to be the little things that unsettle it. Remember, Traxxas has incorporated all the go fast variables into the chassis, but as anyone who follows F1 can tell you, the parts are invaluable to the whole. If the ground effect of the flat.bottom and diffuser get disturbed, let's say by running over a small rock, the downforce they create will be uneven and possibly introduce a turbulence promoting lift. The soft suspension will help the shocks absorb the inconsistencies of a pass, and increase the period of any sudden events. This may give the car a fighting chance to absorb, and have a successful pass. The soft suspension also will do little to resist the increasing downforce (produced as the car accelerates), from pressing it into the ground. This will make the car sufficiently low, when it is the most important, while still retaining effective damping. I just need to find some progressive springs to help me fine tune this, but it seems ok with the stock setup for now. Just adjust the suspension so that the front is not higher than the rear during hard acceleration after about 40mph.

Tip - Rake of the body can increase or decrease downforce so don't forget the body mounts as a tuning tool.

In order to fix my problem, I used tougher springs all around and I put weights on the front as well as 50K diff oil in the back and it handles the front and back end much better.

Weight is a last resort with me. Though I have seen them get these cars more planted in the front, it is a quick fix that will hurt me in my quest for 125+ mph.

I agree with the softer suspension comments. I'm still on stock springs, but I had a ton of preload in them before. My buddy made a comment, so I lowered the car back down, and it seems more planted.

I'm thinking stock springs, with just enough preload to keep it from scraping the ground at speed.

I don't see why not. My OFNA Hyper One Seven reached 72mph with a Novarossi 528xr. And I know its very easy to build a brushless system with more power than the Rossi had. The body is sound.

My Hyper 1/7 has the SAME body as in the video.

The stock plastic wing does little more than add drag. its nowhere near strong enough and deforms greatly at speeds above 50mph. I ended up replacing my rear wing with a 1/8th buggy wing.

Took a huge hit in top speed, but gained incredible grip at the rear wheels. I also ran into trans durability issues with the power of the 528xr. OFNA warranted it 2 times before saying "no more". The Transmission was a 2spd w/reverse and cost $250 a pop. It also weighed in at 390g, as much as the motor itself. I dropped almost half a kilo off the car just by switching to a center diff.

How is the construction of the ofna body? Is it flimsy like traxxas bodies are?

I think I have to give it to traxxas over ofna . Both bodies have that flex to them but traxxas seems like it been painted by a machine ofna seems like they threw a quick coat on it and put some stickers but still after trimming around wheels IM happy it fits still needs a touch in some spots but it seems to hold up if I decide to put Wong most def will be aftermarket or traxxas wing ofna wing is flimsy cheap

Same thickness lexan as Kyosho GT bodies. The standard thickness I should say. It should be reinforced over the wheel arches, though. Its a mostly flat section there so very flexible. Some shoegoo would stiffen it up and make the body last longer.

I have a half of a can of Plastidip spray and after spraying some car emblems i think im going to try it on the inside of the bodies as it seems to hold up and also follows lines and leaves a smooth goodlooking finish . not that it matters what it looks like underneath .

When you hit over 72mph im taking with that hole in the windsheild , did it seem like it wanted to lift ?

Also have you seen any other hyper 1/7 bodies anywhere else ?
all I know of is the Lambo and Ferrari that ofna makes .

The windshield hole wasn't always that big, I mostly did it because I was having issues with overheating in the body. The Novarossi was a big enging and wanted more air flow. The cuts on the windshield started to crack and I ended up opening it up alot to keep the engine cool.

I would call www.Nitrohouse.com directly. They are the only ones I know of who could get them. OFNA doesn't list the Hyper 1/7 anymore on their site.

Far as I can tell, the car is still in production and supported, its just OFNA has chosen to no longer advertise it. Which is probably because they wanted $750 for them and they flopped here. I picked up mine for $300 on RCDeal.com in an auction.
