The neu accually may have less by the looks of it.
I only took the bigmaxximum and the 6 poler inrunner apart i have got.
What is the catch with the Neu rotor daf? |
You don't have to take the Neu apart to see the rotor. Through the holes on the motor you can see how the "core" of the rotor is not actual magnet. You have those 4 magnets attached to this core.
As opposed to a 2-poler, where the magnet is a solid cylinder (well, minus the hole for the shaft, f'course) Don't know what this means for our torque-discussion, though. Just an observation. The only way would be a direct dyno comparison. Same KV Neu versus same KV Lehner (similar size/weight, too) |
Yeah, that would be honest. But normally a 4 pole has got more torque than a 2 pole. the magnets are sitting where they have got the largest impact on the torque number.. As far away from the center as possible..
True
Makes sense to me.
Does it matter how much of the core is magnetic as long as the amount of magnetic flux is the same??
I would think that as long as the measured magnetic field strength is the same the mass would not matter. Frequently more mass = greater field strength however.
Generally yes, more mass=more field strength, IF the magnetic material was the same. IIRC, the Neu has a bigger rotor correct? If so, I would think the added leverage of a larger diameter rotor will offset the lack of a solid magnet - sorta like gearing down.
Yes, that is torque increasing indeed.
I don't know a brushless motor that doesn't use NIB magnets |
One Question I know the 7XL is the most bang for the buck but really how does it compare to the Neu and Lehners. Does the Neu and Lehner have more speed, torque, more smooth running, or D all of the above. What is the real benefit of these motors. For example if some one had 400 bucks to spend on a motor what would be the reasons they go with the Neus or Lehners instead of the Feigaos.
the 7XL is the best bang for the buck.
The neu/Lehner will have got more torque (depending on the model), run a bit more efficient and most important; it runs cooler on partial load It doesn't mean a 7XL will give you less fun. Not at all. |
So what about smoothness does the Neu and Lehners run smoother than the 7Xl (like no cogging). Is the only difference heat and torque. Also when you say it runs more efficient do you mean it gets longer runtime or what do this (efficiency) mean.
more efficent means you get cooler running and a touch longer run time.
Less wattage is gone to heat. MOre wattage to go. |
cogging more depends on the controller.
Quark 125B is what i will be running
Is it a noticable differecne in driving as far as torque and smoothness. or is it a small difference i propable wont notice.
Quark is a smooth conroller.
No, you won't notice a big difference in smoothness, i explained what the big differences are, and that would cover the entire load. Besides a few minor other things people might like/dislike. Neu/Lehner uses better bearings, but since a bearing is an easy and cheap replaceble item in the wanderer/feigao motors i don't think that it should be a large factor not to buy them. |
This may sound weird, but I actually prefer my Feigao 7xl over my Neu 1515! The Neu does have more torque and is better built and runs cooler. None of it worth triple the price. The 7xl has bearings I can replace, excellent performance and no fear of damaging it. I can beat it to a pulp, what's another 90 bucks in this hobby. Get the Neu if you need the coolest running motor possible, but don't feel inferior if you have a Feigao, they are excellent motors!

Yeah, that's right Knotted.. the feigao's are not bad considering their price.. I like my setups cool though! it all depends on what you want. But i still have got a few feigao types of motors.
Is there anything i can do to help the feigaos run cooler

Other than a heatsink i dont think theres any better way of keeping it cool! Conservative gearing is also gonna help in a cool motor, overgeared and undergeared wont be good.
Don't push it. Don't try 7xl on 6s lipo. It will run warm.

Understatement! |
so you say 7xl on 6s won't warm up jhautz.
He was wondering how to make it run cool. |
No, I was agreeing with you. Warming up is an understatement IMO. A 7XL will run HOT on 6s, not just warm.
Yeah It would run really hot (Late Reply)
DO you guys know anything about HB 10 stadium truck (1/10 scale)
Yeah, I've got one. Converted it to the Mamba Max 5700 with (2) 3100mah Polyquest lipos. It rips. I have no idea why I don't see more of them actually.
does anyone have a rough estimate when the mamba maxx will come out like mid summer or fall or spring. Also do you guys think it will work with the Quark125B
Say what?? The Mamba Max is out and has been for a while...Perhaps you mean Mamba Monster Max? If so, what is there to work with the Quark 125B? That makes no sence to me....
sorry squeeforever i was very unclear and i now realize that let me explain i meant the Monster Mamba Maxx (wanted to know a rough time do you know) and i meant will the mamba maxx motor work with the quark. Sorry for confusing you :)
Its all good...Yea, the motor should work with it, no problem. As for time, a rep at CC said they would be surprised if it was out by summer...
The motor for the mamba max will work with quark.
do you think it will compare to the other brushless motors (like feigao and lehner) and if you had a price estimate on just the motor wat would it be.
How dare i say that is is castle it is obviously good
How fast do you think it will be Castle motor MAMBA MONSTER MAXX
