New Video!

Drove it last night for the first time in about 6 months, i couldnt believe how easy it is to drive, so much power but very precise and easy to control just like a 1/10th buggy.

Nice video. I noticed a few wheelies in that one.

overtki11 08.12.2006 05:05 AM

Dude! first off...i'd like to say amazing maxx!!! your craftsmanship of the plates etc is very impressive!! looks so factory!

secondly, i've had this same idea in my head for such a long time and i've actually been searching high and low for a "in-line" slipper unit such as yours,(so that i can do without the maxx tranny) so you can imagine how happy i am to see this idea in the flesh.

thirdly, could you please furnish me with the part numbers of them ofna parts??? the slipper unit as well as the parts that hold the bearings that hold the slipper?

thanks in advance dude....

btw, do you know of any other "in-line, buggy-like" slipper units available that would work?

once again..amazing work!

Serum 08.12.2006 05:50 AM

It are Ofna parts, though you might consider waiting for the Slipperential Mike is currently testing/developing..

It uses a centerdiff and a slipper.

danverz 08.12.2006 05:53 AM

And I can add the slipperential should make you use a bigger pinion due to
the riduction it has. This one of Candyman2 makes you have little pinions.
It could be a problem with a lot of power.

Just my 2 cents.
Ciao,
Daniele

Serum 08.12.2006 06:42 AM

Yes, the slipperential will have a different ratio, because of its extra gears. So you can use bigger pinion for the same ratio.

Candyman2 08.12.2006 07:03 AM

All the info is here:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ryan.coombes/emaxx.htm

The center slipper i used is from an ofna dominator, but im not sure its available anymore. The unit Mikes working on looks like it'll be a nice option however.

slipperential eh?...hmm...sorry guys i've a little out of the loop.....got link? and spy pics?..haha...

thanks for all the input...

candyman: thanks for that link to your site dude...the ofna parts will not be a problem as the LHS here (who has close ties with hobao...)have informed me that dom parts are still readily available....

Candyman2 08.12.2006 07:23 AM

ah thats good then, i got mine of ebay for about $20! they used to stock it at Tower hobbies for something silly like $80

coolhandcountry 08.12.2006 07:59 AM

You can use a differential as well out of a ofna mbx buggy. I put on of them in my gmaxx. I wanted to have a truck like maxx bling.

check out the link. It has some pics of it.

thanks for the link coolhand!

neweuser 08.15.2006 02:44 PM

From my understanding, the slipperential will allow you to use normal pinions that you currently use.

RC-Monster Mike 08.15.2006 04:38 PM

The slipperential uses mod1 pinions, which are available in 1/8", 4mm and 5mm bore in the RC-Monster store. :)

coolhandcountry 08.15.2006 05:53 PM

If you went to a jato spur You could probably run the 32 pitch gears.

Candyman2 09.17.2006 11:26 AM

new rims, what do we think?

Sneeck 09.17.2006 11:42 AM

Much better. Get some black wheel adaptors too.

squeeforever 09.17.2006 11:57 AM

Looks good, but don't they make it an 1" narrower??

Serum 09.17.2006 12:48 PM

Yeah.. Aren't they too small Ryan?

Are you still able to hit the full steering-angle? I wasn't when i put them on my racer-x

me likey!....a lot!!!

personally, i've gone past the "chrome wheels" look myself hahaha.....is that a stock color or did you paint 'em?

squeeforever 09.17.2006 08:40 PM

They only come in white and yellow. My guess is he dyed them like you did your arms.

overtki11 09.17.2006 08:44 PM

ah...i see....thanks for the insight...

hmm...i wonder if my wheels on my maxx can be dyed?......the more i see that chrome the more i wanna scratch it off!!! hahahaha

coolhandcountry 09.17.2006 08:47 PM

I wonder the same about hitting arms. I notice my stocker drags the arms some
with the 3.3 knuckles. It looks good though. I like the looks. What is
the effects of roll over being narrower?

squeeforever 09.17.2006 09:09 PM

Coolhand, the Walbashes make it 1" narrower, so it would be like a original pre-WideMaxx.

wouldn't it be like running 0 offset wheels, like the stock maxx?

squeeforever 09.17.2006 10:00 PM

I don't think so since the rims are wider than the stock Maxx rims. So even more offset is placed on the inside.

Candyman2 09.18.2006 11:11 AM

Hello all. Yes its a bit narrower but still able to get full lock, ive not run them yet, I may not. I still have plenty on my other wheels/tyres, might keep these for show.

I got you squee. It still rubs not on the arms but on the turn buckles. It is at the lock postion though. I still like them though.

overtki11 09.19.2006 06:49 AM

hey Candyman....got a Q for you..

on your site you mentioned that you could use 51/10 ratio.....is this applicable only coz your BL is some huge motor of a navy nuclear sub? or will this ratio work with my punny HV on 12 nimh cells? please advise...TIA dude...

anyone else wish to throw in their 2cts as well??? any insight would be appreciated deeply!!!

Candyman2 09.19.2006 07:26 AM

Depends what you need to gear it at, im usung 12/56 at the moment doubt this will help you though. Do you have a transmission or just a center section like me?

overtki11 09.19.2006 07:52 AM

i currently have a emaxx tranny locked in 2nd....with a 66/13, topend is nice but it does run quite warm...

my dom slipper just got shipped in but have yet to pick it up from the LHS..so i am unsure what the spur size is....

as i wont be upgrading my BL system anytime soon, i wouldnt wanna spend all that effort grafting the dom slipper onto my gmaxx only to find that i cant gear down sufficiently....and i cant "up" the tooth count for the spur gear too large as it would hit the x braces on the gmaxx and cause bidding issues with the dogbones to the front and rear diffs as the angle goes steeper as the tooth count goes up.

hence my concerns....

Serum 09.19.2006 11:04 AM

I wouldn't use the hv-maxx on such a direct-drive, unless you are stepping up to the HB diffs with the 43/10 ratio.

Your 66/13 and 2nd gear gives you about a 9 to 1 gearing ratio. the 56/10 slipper/pinion would give you a 5.6 to 1..

Stock diffs are 37/13 and the HB diffs are 43/10, meaning your total gearingratio now would be something like 25 to 1 .With the slipper (56/10) with HB diffs would give you an 24 to 1

with stock diffs and the slipper, that would be like 16 to 1.

My word of advice; if you want awesome runtime and speed from your hv-maxx get a 4S lipo setup! you'll love it.

Post pics when you sort it out. I'm curious to see it.

Thanks!
