I like your motor mount, only thing i could see would be that it might be lop sided once you get your batteries in there, might not even be notieable. btw what kind of motor are you using?

oh and the reason we all cut the throttle/brake servo because we all mounted our motors on that side and if got in the way lol, thanks for the heads up on the switch mount i still have the piece i cut off so ill use it to mount my switch also.

tashpop 11.03.2007 09:51 PM

the motor is a feigao 10l. i didn't like the purple so i hit it with the brush. i kind of thought i would have a good balance with this setup as opposed to all my batteries on one side. my other thought was if it felt unballanced, id turn the motor around and put both packs on the rear.

rootar 11.03.2007 10:53 PM

cool the no purple was throwing me off, im using a 9L on 3s tell me how yours works out since youll be driving yours before i get to drive mine.

tashpop 11.03.2007 11:04 PM

i will, but i still have to wait til payday to order my other parts then wait for shipping again. mine could be a good 2weeks out still.

rootar 11.04.2007 12:41 AM

im pretty sure im gonna have mine going first of next week, i would have it done by this weekend but my other hobby takes the forefront to R/C and we have the Maxxis 12 hours of America race next weekend, its gonna be huge but i know none of yall care so ill shutup.

I can find a straight answer on the wheels that fit this truck, could some one give me a link to an exact wheel from tower hobbies or something i gotta order a few odd small parts from some where so i wanted to get some wheels while im at it.

tashpop 11.04.2007 08:55 AM

i'm pretty sure the mt2 wheels fit, but you need to get the hexes also.

i was also thinking about grabbing one of my brothers rear stampede hex/wheel and see how it fits also. i'm thinking itll work as long as the off/in set is to bad.

tashpop 11.04.2007 02:32 PM

well, i decided to go ahead and throw it together today stealing some parts off my emaxx since i need to order a front driveshaft for it anyways. i will go into my problems in a bit, but first i'll let you know how it drove.

i really like it. yes the stock tires suck! this thing reminded me of my cen matrix buggy as far as controlling it. everything seemed smoth and completely controlled. i love it.

now the bad------my motor is no good. when i first tried to drive, it acted like the mesh was too tight, so i checked it again and no, perfect. it cogged so bad and had about 3mph top speed if i could even get it to move. so i mess with a few things including mamba settings and finially get it going. i got a solid 3 min. of driving when all the sudden every time i let off throtle i could tell there was a bind or breaks or something going on. i went and checked it out, pull the trigger and smoke. let it cool, spin it, smoke. pulled it apart, no debre or binding or burnt parts, still smoke on anything over 1/8th throtle. sent offshore an email about warrent since i removed the coating on the outside of the can. i think i just happed to get a dud motor since it was giving me problems right from the start. this really sucks.

tashpop 11.06.2007 06:52 PM

just an update on my motor situation. i get no warrenty since i pulled the motor apart. i figured since i can't have a warrenty i would do some investigation of my own. i've determined that the magnet/rotor assembly is waaaaayyyyy out of balance. we have a granit table at work for inspections and i can't even get the thing to roll across it controllibly. the paste they use at the factory looks like they just missed their balance spot. its to the side of the heavy side. in just the small runing i did it wiped out my bearings and marked the coils inside the can a little bit. i specifically remember when i first got it, the motor would turn silky smooth by hand, now its jumpy like a brushed motor and you can also feel crunchy bearings. it destroyed itself in minutes.

oh yeah, i also ordered a new 10L since their cheap and i was pretty set on using it on the build. if it goes the same it'll be my last feigao and i'll pry some kind of warrenty out of the seller or discount on a better motor.

well when i ordered my charger the other day, i was confused to see a ES05i AC/DC with a BUILT IN balancer it was $25 over the regular AC/DC version so i saved 20 bucks over having to buy their LBA10 balancer seperatly. just waiting on shipping now.

You can re-balance the rotor using a prop balancer, but considering how cheap the motors are it is a waste of time. Good luck with the next motor, I have never had a feigao fail me ... yet!

Sorry to inform you but the AC/DC version of the Hyperion EOS 5i does NOT have a built in balancer. It only has new display options when using a balancer. Though you do get the convenience of being able to use AC power or DC. That's always a plus.

rootar 11.07.2007 12:16 PM

did you get any further on this project rooter? mine seems a bit undergeared using 4cell a123's. i used a 12t pinion and from a stand still it hops all 4's about 4-5 times and is at full speed in what seems about 3 seconds. i'm over 30mph i think, but its my slowest rc top speed wise right now. i'm sure the racers would love my gearing, scary responsive and quick.

rootar 11.14.2007 01:18 AM

I got my charger today that i ordered a week after i ordered my battery, stupid maxamps is taking forever, i wish i would have noticed that mike sold the battery i was gonna buy before i made my order to maxamps but im stupid and now i get to wait.

but yea im still waiting on all my electronics to come in, most importantly the battery because i still have to make the battery tray and hold down. Im hoping everything gets here by friday so i can get this thing going this weekend. Its taking a little longer than i planned and im ready to have something to drive bigger than 18th scale.
