BlackedOutREVO, a Neu finned will fit fine, you just might have to remove the rear motor support. My motor is not even resting on the rear support, it is just a few millimeters above it. I think the support is only there to help in extreme violent bouncing situations.
David, my Flightpower 6S packs fit fine in the frame. The frame itself is very, very rigid! I was suprised at how rigid it is for its length. It is 6061-T6 and almost 5mm thick. The whole kit is very well made and includes some surprising extras. Like a micro servo mount with appropriate frame holes, so that you can use the reverse module if you want! Bargain for $185. |
Can you please get some more pics of it knotted?
the low res pics that i found here and on the FLM site don't do it any justice IMO. the dogbones; are they silver or black? Thanks. What 6S pack are you using? (mAh?) |
That is pretty cool about the reverse. I wouldn't use it but it was mentioned in this thread. Looks like they took the comment and worked on it. Great work FLM. Can't wait to order mine.
|
Serum, I will post some photos on photobucket later today. The wife is mad that I'm spending so much time on "those stupid trucks". So, I'll bite the bullet and go shopping with her today.
The 6S is a 5000mAh and it fits. I didn't think it would but it goes right in! The dogbones are black and the long one is very thick, looks like it will hold up well. The kit also comes with an ESC mount and a brake/steering mount plate. Can't wait to get back to it after the day of shopping (sigh). |
OK, managed to sneak in some photos:

Are you going to use the 1521, or did you just test it in there? |
These countersunk holes on the sides of the TVP's, are they standard?
|
I just got one of these kits a couple days ago as well. There are a zillion parts in the bag. I can hardly believe how many parts there are for the $185. I think it looks like a very nice deal as far as RC HopUps go. With all of these parts, the only thing I can think of that isn't in the bag, is an instruction sheet. With this many parts I can hardly believe there isn't one in there. At least an exploded assembly view or something. Sure would making figuring out what goes exactly where alot easier.
Unfortunately, right now I am traveling way too much for work that I doubt I am going to get much of a chance to do anything with it for the couple weeks. I'm only home on Saturdays and Sundays for the next few weeks and those days tend to get "filled" by the wife when they are the only 2 available. It's killing me just staring at it in the bag lookin all cool and shiny:tongue: A cool thing that I found out about this kit... When I opened it up I found a crap load of these little spacers/washers and I couldnt figure out what they were all supposed to be used for. I sent Mike a note asking him and he told me they were spacers to push one of the TVPs out a little to make more room for batteries if you need it. So I'm beting you can fit alot af batteries into this kit if you want to. Quote:

Standard? They look stnadard, but I'm not sure what you mean. |
It will fit BlackedOutREVO! The pictures do not show small spaces well, so it looks like there is less room than there really is. A finned 1515 will go in easily. Even a finned 1521 will fit. Yes, I use the 1521 in my Savage now with a homemade piece of junk mount. My whole setup is getting moved to this new chassis. It includes the 1521, an MGM 22418, 6S lipo and all three servos. I found a Hitec 65HB to use for reverse. Also, check out HPI's new hardened, machined ring and pinion (#86922). They just came out with it last month and it will be tested to the limits.
Serum, the countersunk holes are standard. All the screws are included in the kit and they are all class 12.9! The only problems I see involve fitting a roll bar and body to this monster. Oh and I agree, a diagram would be nice to have. Shoot, here comes the wife, BYE. |
Sneaky bastard.. avoiding shopping at all costs, are you!?
|
It was terrible, Serum! I felt like a weirdo standing alone outside the women's changing room holding a couple of dresses. I kept telling all the ladies who passed by that my wife was inside trying on dresses. I'm sure all you married guys can sympathize.

Can you tell me how much weight an electric savage, with a Neu 1515 and and a 4s or 5s li-po will be??? An aproximation.....
And is my 1515 1Y, MGM 16018 and a 4s will be enough to have a decent power in a Savage????? My XSS is suppose to arrived this week and i,am thinking to converti it with my brushless revo stock, and put the K4.6 stock savage engine back in my revo. I want to have a more reliable tranny and diffs and i think that the Savage XSS diffs and tranny are stronger than revo ones. |
I dont think I could do 6s.... I would just want to run 5s, what MGM fits that bill? Maybe 6s if the MGM can do it, I dont want the most expensive one, just something for 5s really....... But then again, a savvy on 6s must be nuts!
Id love to do a savvy with a 1521, and that motor must run ice cold! |
Hey David,
I just oredered a ss kit and mikes chassis too. Not sure what they will weight, but I plan to run a 9xl, quark 125 and 5s 6000mah lipo. This is kind of a low spec setup (for me!), but I may step up to the kb45 10l or the kb 8xl that I have laying around. I will have to build a custom motor mount for the kb, but it should be worth it. |
David, I am going to run a neu 1515 1/y on 4s in my savage with the 3 speed. Mine should weigh about 12lbs at a guess. I pretty sure that the 1515 1/y will stay cool, geared for 60mph in my revo(only radar-ed in at 55mph) it never got over 130*f, cant say the same for the batteries though!
My chassis should be here tomorrow, I cant wait!!!!!! Bye:mdr: |
Damn, you guys better leave a chassis for me . Mike says he has heaps though. I can't wait to get mine. What are people going to be running in the way of pinions? Note that there are 47t 49t and 52t spurs available.
|
I know that the savage diffs is suppose to be stronger than the revo, but for the tranny itself, do you think that savage trany is more durable than revo one?
|
From what my buddy at the lhs tells me the only thing that breaks on a savage is the reverse (gears and actuator?) and the shock shafts will bend with a hard hit. I guess since they are so long, they bend easier than other types. Other than that the new shimmed diffs and other mods make the new savage the best one yet.
|
I have never had any problems with my savage tranny. I have a metal gear 3 speed though. Only 1st gear is plastic but the whole thing looks brand new after a lot of abuse. The plastic second in the 2 speed I have heard can strip but that is probably due to the slipper being set too tight. Second engages pretty hard and the slipper I think needs to have a bit of give for this especially with a big torquey brushless motor.
|
Good to know Tim, I want to leave the stock ss kit 2 speed if at all possible. I will set the slipper slightly loose. I killed the shift clutch? in my revo, it used to shift really hard into second, and then stopped. I rebuilt the tranny with a wide ratio gearset and a new shift clutch. I have not had a chance to test it yet, but I will set the slipper looser now, and see if it helps.
|
I really want to do a savvy, I sure wish I had some $$$
But more people are using the 2/3 speed then I thought, I think it would be fun to have a BL sav with a 3sp, watching it really lurch forward when it shifts would be funny! |

Hi guys,
You are really tempting me with this conversion. I've always been a little unsatisfied with my homemade conversion because the battery trays are outside the TVP & looks ugly. This is surely more elegant & pretty. OK I'm in. Hi Mike, gonna have to shoot u an email ! Regards, Joe Ling PS : a belated Happy New Year to all ! |
Damn this kit looks VERY nice!!!
I think it's just what my savage needs that has been sitting for 2+ years now.... Just not sure on what motor. Either go for a elcheapo Ammo Great Plains 1800 or 2600 motor with MM or get a 8XL or 9XL... |
Well guys, wheres the pics?????
I know atleast 3 people have the kits |
Looking at this conversion kit again before I buy it..... :D
Wondering why the use of the stock tranny is still used? Why not use a 1/8 diff instead of the tranny? Or is that even a possibility with this kit perhaps later down the road? Money's burning a whole in my pocket for this conersion kit... |
Hi guys,
Just paypaled Mike for one of these. I'm wondering if this battery will fit : http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6352 Regards, Joe Ling |
It will fit no problem, joeling. I will post some pics Sunday night.

I took some new pictures to better illustrate the size and form etc. This is far from finished, but I slapped some parts together just to give everyone an idea of the final product. Also added the frame spacers and put the brake servo in the correct spot, sorry!

please put the pictures again. tks |
where there any countersunk screws missing from your kit? looks like it?
I think my first thing to do when i get mine is to work on that stupid angle of the brake rod. |
Thanks knotted.
Looks real nice. I can't wait tof find some time to start putting mine together. That looks like its going to be a seriousy bad a$$ savage when its done. |
All the screws were there, Serum. I just hate flat head screws. I always manage to strip them out no matter what I do. So I replace them with standard socket heads. Doesn't look pretty, but works better for me.
