Turned all 4 40 series tires on my Muggy into pizza cutters, worked a screw in the the steering spindle loose, launched it into the mini bar making an epic THWACK, and popped a dogbone out :whistle: This was with a 2000KV motor on 4s maxcramps lipos :yipi: Quote:
EDIT: One thing I'm shocked to see are the wires...They are the same diameter as the ones on my 50mm! I can't understand how those things can handle the power these can put out. The ones on my Neu are considerably larger and never got hot under extreme use. |
Sounds like they're working great. I'm thinking I'm going to want an 80mm for my emaxx here in the near future. Still waiting for any sort of ship notification about my 70mm 1600kv. I was hoping I'd hear something before Christmas, but it looks like that's not going to happen.

Thank you very much Medusa! Box is right here in hand. sorry no pics yet. :)

can i use 36-80- 2000 with 6s a123 and MMM v3?
|
Yep, I reckon that would make a killer combo.
Im starting to wonder whether 1600kv or 2000kv would be better for my needs- 6s2p A123 or 5s lipo also.... |
I've got a 1600kv 80mm on the way for my muggy. I'm going to run it on 6S lipo and a MMM and try 6-9S lipo with lutach's 10S esc once I get a data logger to make sure I'm not drawing to many amps. Don't want to hurt anything.

IMO the 1600 on 6s would be plenty of motor for bashing, if you slam it and go with street tires the 6-9s setup should get you 60-70 MPH IMO, depends on how well you can keep it under control. |
How does Medusa work when those cooling holes are covered, as it cant cool down?
Im working on brake-adapter that has cooling channels in it, and it takes air in one specific place, that can be protected from dirt and dust. And for rear im planning "airfilter". But havent got my motor yet. e. I could just share my sketch, here. |

The Medusa Motors were designed with Heli and Airplane Applications in mind. When used in a Monster Truck or Land Vehicles, very little air goes through there anyway. Inside the motor, the windings where the heat is generated, is in direct contact with the inside of the motor can. Just a regular heat sink will work just fine, even with the holes covered. As long as your setup is geared right. |

Very nice, I wonder if these are just the pre-ordered units or if they've started rolling them out on a regular basis. I really need to get rid of the 7XL in my e-maxx, it's just too silly of a motor to deal with.

So I got one of the 60mm 2000kv motors for my D8. This thing has a ton of motor drag, strong magnets I guess. Anyway I'm concerned how the buggy is going to jump. Is it going to nose dive off of every jump or am I going to have to keep throttle in it to prevent that. If I do that now I'm concerned about stripping ring and pinion gears. I mean the drag is nuts, it feels like having worm gears in the transmission.
Anybody have one in a buggy, and how does it fly? |
I have a 50mm 3300kv that was in my FLM build. I'm thinking that it probably weighed as much as your D8 when fully laden, and drag wasn't really an issue. If you push the car by hand, you'll notice the drag disappears once you get it rolling. I had the same notion with both the Medusa, and more recently my Mega 22/45 which is a 6 pole and notches worse than a medusa. But its negligible when the vehicle is actually moving.
