Hey Kcaz, did you ever test fit those LST2 Sway bars? Was thinking of getting some to try... And Lets see those shocks Mounted!

Kcaz25 11.01.2010 01:59 PM

Oh right. No I haven't. I've been meaning to but Just haven't had the time. I'm alittle afraid to use them because the clamps. They are plastic and if you tighten them down on the tower too much like the tower would want then you crack the plastic cramp. I need to find some metal clamps.

I had to order one more part and school work is soo busy. I should be RTR with pics by this weekend.

The spring setup is way too soft of course having come from a buggy. I'll buy the spring kit for it. I've got thick oil for them. I'm thinking 60,000

What are the thoughts on the battery tray location? I can move it up a good bit more. I'm going to cut that tab off in the back. The tray is the last thing that needs doing.

ANGRY-ALIEN 11.02.2010 05:15 PM

Wow... loving the look of the new profile Zack... hmmmmm... will you achieve a good balance with the batt tray there? if so, then maybe it'll be fine...

Alien

Kcaz25 11.02.2010 05:18 PM

Thanks Alien. I am excited to try it out and enjoy it.

I don't know where else to put it. It is a huge battery. lol Yeah I'm thinking it should provide for a good balance remember the monoblock.

Rivermaxx 11.02.2010 05:27 PM

Looks good! Hows the suspension travel?

JoFreak 11.02.2010 05:52 PM

I really like what you made out of that truck!
But I too have problems imagining that the balance would be too great with the battery so far off center.
The mono block isn't going to help with that.
I would flip the diff arround, put the ESC behind the motor and place the battery on the side where the motor is at the moment.

But then: I haven't seen your truck in action nor have I driven it, so I have no idea if the handling actually is influenced in a bad way by that weight distribution.

I would have to agree only because it looks as though your diff is barely offset to on side. That is the way my 8ight is setup and I think the balance is pretty good...

But it looks Great! :yipi: I love that chassis! I really wanted to go that route with my maxx... Got a side shot? I bet the body sits LOOOW with those Towers!

Kcaz25 11.03.2010 05:09 PM

Oh man! I can't wait to get some video! Tomorrow perhaps. She is bad fast! I mounted the body by cutting slots in the body near(above) the Duh towers and ran Velcro straps through the slots. It works great! And no more clips! Now I just wish I would have done it this way to begin with.

I ran the truck for about 15 mins today and it couldn't have gone much better. Everything works great and the truck turns on a dime. I couldn't make it flip despite every effort. So the battery tray location has no negative effects so far on handling. It will be 3 weeks before I am able to test it mid air. I'll have new springs at that point.

ANGRY-ALIEN 11.03.2010 05:58 PM

Sounds good Zack... what's the finale running weight?

JoFreak 11.03.2010 06:02 PM

Sounds good indeed, can't wait for the video.
Were did you get the Duh towers? Are they still available somewhere?
I could really use a set of lower shock towers.

And what axles and diff outdrives do you use?

Rivermaxx 11.03.2010 07:28 PM

I bolted some plexy angle on the towers and put a strip of good velcro on top and on the bottom of the body in the back seemed to work good.

I don't really have a way to check. Probably12.5 pounds. Somewhere between 12 and 13.

Thanks guys! I got the towers from user and community member Rivermaxx. Great guy. Has ran some good trucks. No they haven't been made in years and are hard to come by. Funny thing though. When I bought mine there was a set on Ebay. First set I've seen on the bay. I have wanted some for a whole year before I had the opportunity. Thanks River. They do rock yeah. There are some other short towers. Duh, Nova, GMaxx and one other... Can't remember. Why do you want a set?

I am using UE outdrives with TRX shafts. Great combination. Just watch how high you jack the truck especially with RPM TrueTrac. If the dog bone end comes out and can't get back in bad things happen while in motion. :bad:

Speaking of bad. I have a problem. I was having a  jolly good run today :intello: when I got the RX where caught in the center diff. I ran into a very far away curb that I thought I could jump and in a rare event the RX wire got caught up in the diff and pulled apart. I'm away at school(and stink at soldering) can I just put the wires strands back together according to color, tape it up and be gentile until I can get my electrician on it around Thanksgiving? Please say yes.

Cool. River tell me what you think of the truck.
