Anyone know when more 80mm are going to be shipping? I'm really keen.

anson 01.13.2009 10:08 PM

I ordered mine on the 11th of Dec. Patiently waiting for mine, from this thread it looks like people who ordered before Dec are getting their shipping notices, so I guess I am moving forward in the queue.

Medusa

I called them and spoke to Jeff, hea said they were having problems
with the magnets on the 80 mm motor. He said they will have to fix
the problem. It could be a couple of weeks before they start
receiving more motor.

anson 01.13.2009 11:17 PM

Oh well, good things come to those that wait right?

...Right?

This problem wouldn't be in the older motors as well, would it?:surprised:

I'm not sure about the older ones, I know he specified the 80 mm
motors that they tested before getting shipped to the rightfull
owners. I'm glad they checked them before shipping it out.

It's definitely nice to know they tested them. My 80mm has a couple hours of use on it already and it's working VERY well.

Works great, I like it much better than the Feigao. Significantly more efficient, judging by how many milliamps I used for my run. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship!

Oh and it's a 1600kv 70mm on 6S A123.

Nice, could you post bigger pics, cant see numbers in those? :) And when zoomed the numbers are blurry. Would be interesting to see them compared to mine.

Yeah the forum here resizes the poo out of anything that you post as an attachment. Here's another version:

Got my 70 & 80 mm Medusa's today.

The 70mm was ok & in the box , but, the 80mm was the wrong kv printed on the box as opposed to what's printed on the motor. Was supposed to be 2000kv & 1600kv was on the motor.

I emailed Medusa & apparently a bunch of the 2000kv's were incorrectly labled. Anyone else experienced this?

How can I check it to satisfy my peace of mind?

SidewaysLS4 01.14.2009 01:52 PM

Dumb question...it's ok to direct solder these motors, yes?

suicideneil 01.14.2009 02:51 PM

Yep, best to direct solder in fact.

As for testing the kv, difficult without an rpm spinning guage thingy. If you set up the vehicle for a certain speed (say 40mph), then run the truck with the motor, it should be fairly evident if its the right kv or not- if its 1600kv on 4s lipo it wont be terribly nippy compared to a 2000kv on the same voltage and gearing.. (GPS or radar gun would help).

Well I'm thinking of purchasing a Medusa motor to go with my LT ESC after *ahem* burning up the stock setup in my E-Revo
I was looking at the 70mm ones, but is it me or are the charts on the motors page all wrong? As I don't want to end up with the wrong motor! They are pretty pricey too, it had better last!

You think Medusa's are pricey?...sorry but no way...they are 4 pole and there reputation is awesome...haven't read anything derogatory about them that I can remember

pricey compared to what?

Superbasher 01.15.2009 02:35 PM

Well, I'm used to smaller scale setups so all this MT stuff is a little pricey compared to the 1/10th stuff. I'm used to paying £40 for a motor :P
