that peak at 45 seconds is when I shifted from first to second. Here's a power graph. I really wasn't gunning it due to lack of traction.

Just tried the 1600XL motor geared 18/66. Top speed in first gear is about 22 mph and second gear is about 35 mph. Amp spikes are 45-50 amps in first gear. 1 minute constant running back and forth in circles on my driveway used 60 mah. So 10 minutes is 600 mah so theoretical drivetime is close to 50 minutes!!!

I think this might be the combo to race with. How often do you really go over 25 mph anyways on a dirt track? Geez, 30 minute mains... and still have plenty of power left! This is with those heavy stock tires too.

Awesome stuff, Young! I was actually thinkig of using a 5s LiPo on the xl2400 or xl2000, geared for around 35 or so mph. I figure I could safely race for 10 minutes with a light truck, and have tons of power. That 1600 setup seems like an awesome combo to race with, especially for the long mains!

Yeah, those Kokams are absolutely awesome. I thought the polyquest were good. In my TC4, a 3s 3100 was pretty good. The 3s 3200 kokam were slightly better. In my emaxx, the difference is even more noticeable due to fact that I'm pushing the pack a little more.

5s - kinda of an odd number... but that would work great with those motors for a 10 minute race. It's nice to know that geared for 35 mph, intermittent peaks are only at around 60-70 amps for 6s. With 5s geared for 35 mph, the peaks should be around 65-75 amps. That's well within the safety of those Kokam cells... plus you'll be using lighter weight tires.

The best part of these cells is that they give super high power AND give you decent run times! If you go 8s or 10s, you can probably race at 35 mph and run for 20 or 30 minute races with insane power!

I was thinking 5s for a few reasons: first, it is comfortably within the range of most controllers (18 cells). Second, I can put the 3s pack opposite the motor and the 2s pack on the same side as the motor and bring the weight balance back to the center (One motor opposite steering servo in G-maxx chassis w/motor mount). I know I can get my e-maxx under 8 pounds as well, so I should have slightly lower peak draw and a nice runtime. I will definately run a 6s at least once. I have enough packs to run two sets of 5s packs back to back, which should get me through a night of racing without a recharge. I caould probably run two qualifier on the original set and the Main on the second set. I will have to test the runtime in racing conditions, but 10 minutes should be pretty realistic.

Just did some running with the 6s 1600 XL. Ran 20 minutes or so straight. The controller 24.89 F was 90 degrees, the Polyquest 3100 mah 6s was at 90 degrees, the motor was at 177 degrees F. Outside temp was about 30 degrees F. Sounds like a winning combo to me - maybe it might need some kind of heatsink for racing though. During the summer months, the motor will probably get close to 200 degrees.

Awesome results, Young. I just completed my heatsink/motor clamp design for the Feigao motors and will run this new heatsink on pretty much all my motors (the clamp piece is seperate and optional). After a full run on a 9L with 14 cells, the motor on HotnCold's truck was barely warm tonight. This was on a short inside track, so the ambient temperature was probably around 60 - 65 degrees. The heatsink seemed to work very well (as did the clamping system associated with it).
