Looks like its coming along good so far Ryan, although I still think you should just leave it a gasser......

And that motor you showed me on AIM is a beast.......

Sounds good. Have you looked into spending a little extra $$$ on A123 cells and making a nice pack out of them. I know a 10,000mAh 25-30C 10S lipo packs would weigh about the same or less then the lead acid packs. Get your self a good ESC that will handle the current loads and your set.

I think Im stuck on PB's because of how cheap they are and how easy they are to maintain. I found a 100a HV ESC on Bidproducts website for $30. Its 10s capable so that should work fine. I will be using Mech brakes aswell.

This motor?

Will the PB's handle the current load though. Here is a nice little video to show you how a starting battery pack made of A123 cells does: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyYBh4ec05c. Here you can see that they want to be rich real fast : http://www.tekbattery.com/battery_prices.html. All you need is 4 of the DeWalt packs and do a 10S4P set up. Will pay for itself down the road. A 9200mAh, 36V A123 packs will put out 276A continuous and 552A max if needed and will weigh much less then the PBs you plan on using.

If I had to choose some motors, I would go with the following with 8mm shaft:

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...utrunner_193Kv
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...MT-W63K2_195kv

Now these have 12mm shaft, but would also be good motors for this project:

Look at those wimpy wires...

Im already getting the brushed behemoth motor. The 100a HV ESC will also be on my list and the PB's will most likely be my choice. Im on a budget.

Will the brushless ESC work with the brushed motor?

Takedown 09.14.2008 02:26 PM

Thats what Im going to find out. For $30 its worth a shot.

It won't work. For that ESC to work with a brushed motor it needs the appropriate software. I have that ESC that was sent as a test unit from Suppo (The manufacturer) and they keep everything simple, so it won't have the software I mentioned. and it won't work at all with a brushed motor. If you're on a budget and try it, it'll be costly as you spent the $$ on the motor and the batteries. If you go with the options I showed you, you'll spend a little more $$$, but it'll work.
