Hows this, 21st of January 2004. One of the coldest days of this Canadian winter. I'm working on an addition project on a Hospital of all places when all of a sudden smack! 2000lbs of solid Douglas Fir beams 14"x14"x45' come crashing down from the crane myself and youngest brother are using to unload a tractor trailer.
We each take a hit on the head,he buckles in half nose touching his toes fracturing 2 ribs, pulling out his back and just plain sore with the wind knocked out of him. Me not so lucky. I didn't buckle and wound up with a broken neck at the 6th cervical vertebra. So after 2 hours in traction 2 surgeries and a whole lot of hardware I face life as a C6 Quadriplegic. At this point I go to rehab for 7 months, come home move into mom&dads house until the house my family and friends were building for us is complete. A year later get married to my then girlfriend of 12 years, get a couple dogs and 7 months ago become father to twins,my son Ethan and daughter Chloe. Did I win for Biggest BooBoo! HeHe! |

Dirtbike accident, right Harold? For some reason I remember that... Might be wrong, has happened before!
We have a couple of guys on here that are paralyzed and you guys always shock me with you upbeat outlook on life. I doubt I am that much of a man... Big props to you guys! I was in a very serious accident when I was 8, got hit by a car traveling 45mph+ while I was crossing a road on a bicycle. No obvious damage, but I have 6 or so messed up discs in my back, neck, mid and lower back. Plus I lost all "picture" memories from that point back, so no childhood for me!!! No idea what it was like, so I guess I do not miss it. I could still read and write, and did remember people that I came in contact with shortly after the accident, but forgot people that I did not see for a while. Now my memory is very weird, and I dream in red scale... Plus you all know how strange I am in other ways! I got lucky, all I lost was memories, crazy granny could have killed me. I still think how lucky I am, and it does help. |

For a driver i use this guy http://www.hexcrews.com/racingratche...d50mmbits.aspx worth every penny. Also use vise grips all the time. I've built heli's, cars and worked on my boats. Back in the day I could have built an 1/8 buggy in 1 night now it's a 2 week project, one thing I've definitely gain since being in the chair is patience. |
E-clips are my nemesis!
|
Well wifes gone to bed, gotta go spend a few hours tightening a couple nuts on the new boat. LOL
|
Patience is a virtue that I have yet to discover... I have plenty with my customers, but I think that bleeds me dry for everything else that I may need patience for.
Have fun with the boat! |
