Why is the Jato a joke, I had one and loved it. I always wanted an electric version, but the conversions were not my style, not saying they were bad. The weight usually was too far forward and unless you had saddle pack lipos, you usually had trouble placing them in the chassis. The problem with the transmission, If people didn't run 1512 and 1515 neus in them there would be no problems. Mine run the 3.3 and a hot modified .12 when i raced it, never had a problem.

Here are the most asked things on the traxxas forums;
1. Rustler based slash; possible, especially with Losi bringing out the strike and everyone else bringing stadium truck based setups

2. 1/6-5 gas buggy; possible, they had one before

3. E-4-tec; not likely, but possibly rally?

4. Nitro slash based off the nitro stampede; not sure and don't follow nitro much anymore

Those were the most recent requests that i can recall, save for my thread asking for an Ejato. Here is what we will probably see if it's an E-jato.

Two speed tranny, with a brake servo for 80 MPH top speed.
Fully water proof VXL setup, possibly a fegaio based sensored(novak/LRP) setup for race legality. 13.5 Turn would be closest to the 3500 motors.currently used.

the one thing i'd like to see is a setup where the battery can be reconfigured and the tranny can be flipped (X-factory X-6/60) so on high traction tracks you can run mid motor

$10.... Its a 1/10th buggy made off the slash , the design a few kids made up on that forum 2 years ago. $10.. they will never produce anything new

This is what I think it is going to be. An e-1/8 type buggy based on a revo platform or the slash platform targeted at newbs. Think bandit for electric 1/8 scale.

BL_RV0 10.04.2009 12:03 PM

Yeah I'd have to agree. It'll most likely be a slayer based 1/8 buggy.

When I saw Traxxas' "video" I couldn't help but shake my head. I see WAY too many Traxxas vehicles and am far from impressed by them, near to the point of disappointment at this time. Seriously, what are they trying to prove? That they can rally the masses of noobs?

Traxxas is the Coca-cola/McDonalds/Walmart of RC. They market to the masses, and market toward newcomers to the hobby. They have found their niche in the market and do a good job at it. I don't think there is any problem with that. If they are trying to prove anything it's that they can be a hugely successful company and draw many new people to the hobby.

Traxxas are like Maxamps in that respect, I would have to agree.

Trouble is, they dont make durable enough products for the people they are targeted at- noob = bad driver & poor electronics knowledge. Not a good idea to sell inherently weak designs then, and as for price gouging on the lipos, thats just shameless behaviour taking advantage of people who dont know any better/thing...

I was caught on that.....after rustler release i got one, looking websites, videos and so on, at that time, traxxas really looked good.....where i live i had the first lipos and so on......after some time i gave up on traxxas.....and i was glad to sell all my rustler spare parts.......is a good car, all traxxas are well built but with design flaws.....its for noobs only......imo.......:whip:

now i just cant imagine buy something traxxas.....

streethot 10.04.2009 08:30 PM

they will never release an e-buggy......to go 50mah or so and no jumps? servos?........a toy among rc cars? i cant hold it.......i really hate traxxas for sure.......who told emaxx was built for jumps???? i do not agree.......i will stop now, i dont want to remember all bad stuff......dot

I have had 2 e-jatos, and both were crap. The jato breaks parts (especially the damn tranny case) frequently, has horrible front tire/suspension wobble in reverse (granted I do not reverse much but it is still a problem). Even with plenty of up front weight it was difficult to drive over 60mph. Plus I think it is a poor design, all the way thru. An electric rustler is a better platform to start with.

I doubt that traxxas will do a 2 speed setup in an ejato. Plus if they retained the current tranny it would be a mid motor setup. And even a race prepped .12 does not have half the low end torque that a decent brushless setup does. I ran a 7s feigao 540 and 3s and the jato just could not handle the power. I could not imagine a 1512 jato, plus the tranny would be toast with decent grippy tires.

You would think that now that the Slash is the oldest platform in the SC arena and losing sales to the newer entries in the SC market, they would release a VXL Slash to regain some of those sales?

It will probably be an platinum edition e-Jato 3.3 deluxe.

zeropointbug 10.04.2009 10:41 PM

I heard a couple Rustler based Slash... if I'm not mistaken, the Slash IS based off the Rustler. Did I miss something?

What have traxxas fan boys been asking for lately? An electric slayer? That would have been my first thought. What about a truggy? I doubt this, but you never know. I mean they DID technically START the truggy revolution with the Revo's revolutionary design/performance, so maybe now is their time to actually jump into the monster they created and build something that can compete with the big boys.

emaxx 101 10.04.2009 10:46 PM

Maybe flying 4-tec VXL? Tht would be cool

The Slash is actually based off the stampede, the raised platform of the rustler. they main differences to the stampede are the longer chassis (nearly three inches i think) and the incorporation of the rustler/bandit steering bellcranks. I have no desire to get into the scale truck wars, bit i have been planning to get a stampede VXL and the chassis and steering (links and everything) for the slash and make the best stock stampede ever built.

Wait a second, Just had the thought. What if the new car is the evolution of the stampede, with new chassis and slash steering. would be easier to drive with bellcranks and a slightly longer chassis
