Sounds like these steel rings are real handy when you have things popping out and you want then to stay put. Should we send some to Harold so that Hippie will stop popping out the back when the "action gets intense"?

I ran alot of traxxas products and gave up on anything other than the steel pushrods/tierods. I broke everything and anything other than the steels, which I would bend, but could straighten them.

I do like the rpm true track setup, had that on one of the revos. Nice. Want to put it in the center of my 6x6 maxx based truck.

I think your ball popped out because you didn't install the metal rings from the stock carriers. See pic

Are you sure? I was looking at them and it only comes with 2 per set. I read the description and it say those metal rings are bearing spacers/adapters. You use them if you have the older, smaller diameter bearings. Correct?

Bondonutz 08.09.2010 02:35 PM

Why do you guys think these rings have anything to do with the friggin' bearings ???

They go on the back of the carrier where the fookin threaded part of the pillow ball comes through, they prevent the ball from popping out the backside.

Then why does the kit come with only 2 rings? Wouldnt it come with 4, one for each pillow ball? Im not arguing, Im asking.

Those 'rings' are bearing spacers/ adaptors, not the same thing as what goes on the back of the pivot balls.

Dont worry Bondo, I know what you're talking about

They did only start coming fairly recently on newer 3905/ erevo style knuckles though, so maybe Popoxx didnt have any on his stock knuckles that are a bit older, but still 3905/ erevo style- I think that is where the confusion is coming from.

Funny thing is though, I just went through all the exploded views and the part listings on towerhobbies; absolutely zero info, pictures, or part #s for those metal caps. I've seen them with my own two eyes though- they fit in place of the blue rubber dust boot & retaining clip on the back of the pivot balls, yet I cant seem to fnid them anywhere

Best bet is it to find something similar that will fit, or make a metal plate to screw on the back like the ImpaktRc knuckles:

I wish I was at home to show you the instructions included with the 5334R axle carriers and which explains that these 2 rings have to be used only if you have the inner bearing of the 5334 model !! But I'm not at home :whip:

There are only 2 rings for 2 axle carriers because there is one inner bearing per carrier. That's why they are called "bearing adapters".

We're maybe talking about 2 different things Bondonutz...

DING DING DING DING !
What I'm talking about has NOTHING to do w/the Friggin' bearing.

Popoxx 08.09.2010 04:48 PM

If you're talking about the 2 rings you surrounded in you pic then you're talking about bearing... I hate this discussion

Bondonutz 08.09.2010 05:06 PM

NO ! there not for the God Damn BEARING ????

I hate this too and the language barrier.

Popoxx 08.09.2010 05:14 PM

So let's stop here. I will post pic of what I want to show Friday when I'll be at home.

In this post of yours you show a red circle around a metal ring and drew an arrow pointing to the location of the pivot ball cup. The metal ring that you circled is not for that. THAT IS THE BEARING SPACER. The rings you are talking about, come on Traxxas part #5334r, they cannot be bought separate. I am not sure if they can be removed from the Traxxas part and used on the RPM part.

I used a members pic and added in what I am talking about.

I REPEAT; TRAXXAS #5334r COMES WITH THE METAL RINGS THAT SHOULD STOP THE BALLS FROM POPPING OUT. I AM NOT SURE THEY CAN BE REMOVED AND USED ON THE RPM AXLE CARRIER.

OK, Now that we have decent picture I can see where the miscommunication is.

I have circled the part I've ben talking about, this is what prevents the balls from popping out.
