Not if the grounds are seperate, which they are. Normally, you see circuit interruption in the + lead, but there is nothing wrong with switching the ground lead. In fact, that's how old-style dome lights are switched on via pin switches in older cars. Car horns operate in a similar way. Just depends on the application. Could just be a matter of the circuit using an NPN vs a PNP transistor to do the switch action...

Okay, do you see the labeling though Brian? If you ignore the drawing they provide, doesn't it look like they are switching the + batt terminal?

Got a quick email back...

"Hi Justin,

Thank you for your e-mail. The circuit diagram that you provided does
look correct.

My Question

Name: ***************Justin *******
Comment: ************Hi, your labels on the Protection Circuit Module
(PCB) for a single cell Li-ION:
http://www.batteryjunction.com/prcimopcbfor.html

Is quite confusing.
I'm not sure which the P , B *and such are actually going to, so would
like to make sure.

If I wire up a battery, to connect to this module, which will then wire
out to a connector, would this diagram be correct? Thanks!

That photobucket pic is missing. It would be nice to know what the proper wiring was...

zero: The labeling is a bit "crappy", but the pic I posted makes sense assuming I am reading their label correctly.

No matter what, if I were to buy that device, I would be reverse-engineering it to make sure I knew what goes where. Those ICs are most likely commonplace for those types of modules, so a datasheet lookup should tell the tale.

I think it's around post 29

BrianG 05.17.2010 03:56 PM

Ok cool, that's just like the diagram I posted except I put the battery on top and the load/charger (connector in post 29's diagram) on the bottom. Same connections though...

Chadworkz 05.17.2010 05:06 PM

here is the fixed picture he posted above...

Thanks Chad:

I'll be waiting for the "MintyBoost" to see if I can even solder it up, and get it working before I order a LiPo and the board...
