may i ask why?
|
Based on when I got into electronics, I'll venture a guess and say 39-44.
|
close Im 45
i started with it when i was about 10 |
you shuld Think BEFORE you post ..on why this was done this way
Its none of your business but i feel this shuld be sed and im not cryen the blues but this should set things straight. So here it is im not working at this time and dont have a mother or father to buy my junk for me. I was not born with a golden spoon in my mouth. I got into rc's to get away from the real world of troubles and trama here at the house...... See im up here in NY cause i needed to get my mother out of a nursing home Here in warsaw NY. http://www.hospital-data.com/hospita...ME-WARSAW.html she is verry sick and not not expected ot live mutch more than another year or so. So i stay home and help her 24/7 and Can not work as she needs full time attention and care i do have Home health aids and nurses here at the house alot and that helps me with some time for myself so i got into rc's as a way to Chill out and calm down from the rigger of the everyday routine. while im here in NY i just work out of the house But Verry little as she dont need to deal with people comeing and going out of the house all day.... so i make Money for what i NEED and Not mutch more. I gave up my Girlfriend we were engaged to be married . I gave up my job in Tucson arizona and shortly after getting up here i gave up my car as i was not usen it. Just doing what i shuld do for my mother as she was there for me ALL my younger life. so without going into Detail thats the Short of why im Here. I DON'T let people know this stuff and i DON'T talk about it as its not proper to talk of these things in a open forum as i have found in life when you do people will say now he is cryen the blues or wanting a pitty party. and thats far from a fact. I ONLY let this out here so you MIGHT more understand why im doing the things the way i am. Now you Know why i dont have a $225 brushless motor and Esc in a $800 rc car. so i Will build or Hodge podge what i need together untill i can do better. Thank you Ralph A Phraner |
Hodge podge, thrown together, custom, whatever you want to call it- I prefer that approach to "bolt-on" any day. I have an engineering mind so designing stuff isn't the problem. Sometimes life needs the money more than your RCs do, and life always takes priority.
I hope your Mom is doing OK, and if you ever have some "extra" cash I hope you can pick up a good BL system and experience the thrill of "too much power". |
Thank you
Verry mutch and thats the first thing im going to do is Brushless when i get a chance. |
Ok-a lot of "sniping" going on here...but,I am getting some good ideas here.I probably should keep the kit supplied 12 turns/blue EVX2 speed controller-for winter "bashing"...and use a brushless system for the rest of the year.
When "550" motors are being dissed,is that just the ones made by Traxxas?(Or,is it the size in general?) Can 540 motors be used? (singly or in pairs ? ) |

the size in general a 550 is a 550 a 550 is better than a 540 . as a 550 has a cooling fan and a longer armature that will give you more torque and the fan will help on cooling i have used a 540 in this maxx but it gets Hot FAST! when its offroad and its with out the torque that the 550 offers . a 12t is a high RPM HIGH amperage motor a 19t would be good for speed power and current draw is lower and a 21t is even more power less rpm and uses even less current draw. i just used a Brushed 550 as it will Better handle water mud and other things in the long run...... plus for bashing and mud and water to replace a 550 motor is only$14 vs your brushless @ $60 to $200. |
One good thing about brushed motors- As long as the voltage isn't too high they are already "waterproof". Just need to make sure and clean/dry them out after every run and they'll be fine. Mudproof is a different story, as the sand getting in the wrong place can (and will over time) ruin the commutator/brushes in the motor.
Still, "standard" 550 motors are pretty cheap, so if they last a season then :yipi:. Edit: Run a pair of these on 14 cells and I think you'll be pleased. http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...&cat=17&page=1 |
so if you run a Brushless motor under water
Then open it it wont be wet inside...................... and in a few runs of Mudy water if that water stays in the motor the dirt that was in the water that made it mud will dry. and as the Motor runs After that the Dryed mud now a solid will be tossed arround in the motor and destroy the feild coil . A brushed motor is easily rinced out with water no disassembly needed to flush it out. |
Question??
no thay would not let me into the service as i was only 115lbs at 22 and i WANTED to Badly
I'm confused. What does weighing 115lbs have to do with getting into the Navy? When I joined in 1977 I was 118lbs and weight not even mentioned during my enlistment. Plus I was a boot camp drill instructor for 5 1/2 years from 90 to 96 and there was no minimum weight requirement. During that time the only weight concerns we worked on was for overweight people, and we busted their a$$ to help them lose that extra weight. In fact I had one recruit who lost over 100lbs in 8 weeks of my cycling him every single chance I got. |

but only 620KV (rpm/volt) is like 4.464 rpm that looks like a 24v motor i would crawl at 7.2v lol i only use 7.2v to 8.4v my motor is rated @ 28,100 RPM (9,400 RPM under load). @ 8.4v and 27amps stall current i need to get away from NiMH Thay are way to heavy over 7 cells. im going to change over to Lipo 30c to 40c at less than half the weight. i tryed a 20c but it dont have the puntch but is better on hills and rock piles with less weight. |
That's definitely a 14-20V motor for general use. I have two in my crawler running 2s LiPo and it is slooooooww but very torquey (sp?). I've almost ripped the tires out of the beadlocks a few times... :oh: Yeah too many Nixx cells gets heavy, I had my Rustler running 14 cells at one point- I think it weight almost 10 pounds, though it still went like hell with the Lehner XL2800. :mdr:
