Love that pic with body and bare chassis superimposed over eachother.
|
Thanks!!! :yipi:...

My Photoshop skills are probably a 3/10, any chance I could pull that off? I guess I'd need to get some good lighting and decent pics first. Do you just make 2 layers then blend/fade the edges, or is it more complex than that?
|
Actually it was quite simple to do... set vehicle down on a plain surface... set the camera on a tripod... take a few shot of the car with the body on... then remove the body carefully and
not disturb the cars position in the frame of the shot... take a few of the chassis... review the images to see if the exposures satisfactory... then take the images to photoshop... have the shot with the chassis on the lower layer... then start creating the transparencies with the body by removing some of it with the erase tool... you'll need to turn down the pressure on the tool to 60%.... and slowly remove the areas you wish to reveal the chassis... Thanks for the explanation. Definitely within my realm of ability, nice!
Now it's just a matter of getting some decent lighting setup and taking some better pics. Gonna try that with my Jammin once it's finished. |
No worries man... lighting can be kept simple by shooting close to a window or on a porch...

What do you use for a background? Or you use a tent?
Sorry to clog up your build thread with photography questions! |
All questions are welcomed man... i used a large sheet of white paper for my background... if you have access to a light tent (or you can make one),
that would be even better... For lighting, I use a flash mounted on the camera which bounced off the ceiling... Alien |
Thanks for the tips. I'll see what I can come up with.
What about camera settings? I just have a simple point-and-shoot (Panasonic Lumix, DMC-FS3). I have a digital photography book, so I should probably dig it out and do some reading, then try out some more pics. |
hmmmm... if you're going to shoot in a shaded area... here's a start... Scene Preset: Portrait... Shooting Mode: Normal picture... White Balance: Shade... no flash...
use the timer so your hand won't shake the camera if the exposure is long... Alien |
Great Pic! Even if I work with Photoshop frequent in one of my jobs I didn't ever cross my mind to make that kind of image... Thanks for the idea, If I ever copy the concept I'll give you the cred..

Good to know you like it man... it should look great with your Savage project...
