Wow the truck looks great. Now its time to send those ARB covers off and have them paint matched to the orange of the body.

WheelMan 07.08.2013 11:50 AM

haha funny you say that, as I've already taken them off to bead blast them so I can send them to the painter :mdr:

HAHAHA, that's funny right there. I was kind of joking.

nastety92 07.08.2013 01:29 PM

Paint the ARB letters black and your good to go now.

WheelMan 07.08.2013 01:39 PM

oh that was my plan from the beginning, to have the ARB covers match the paint job.

They're getting done for sure! But I haven't decided whether to sand the letters off afterwards so they're silver, or paint them black.

I say black. Might as well match everything.

How about those shocks, can the blue come off of the shocks?

WheelMan 07.08.2013 03:13 PM

Was only considering silver because of all the links I polished. Either color, silver or black, will fit in just fine I think, for the letters.

Man you're really on the same page as me all the way. haha I am planning to remove the blue anodizing...I just didn't take the time to do so yet because I was too eager to get pics with the new body on (one of the black shocks broke on me, and these blue/silver ones were just laying there, so I used them).

Although, as I look at them, I kind of like the blue. Reminds me of the KING shocks that are available.

I like color matching as well. Your vehicles are pretty impressive.

Do you do these type of mods to your 1:1 vehicle as well?

WheelMan 07.08.2013 04:00 PM

Thanks!

I would be all over this kind of work on my 1:1 vehicles if I had the shop...and most of all, the $$$ haha

I'm working on that though. Just moved to the country last year, and have plenty of room to build a nice big shop :mdr:

I hear ya Travis. I'm in the same boat. We are trying to find a new house right now with a garage or space for a garage.

Keep up the good work.

WheelMan 07.10.2013 10:54 PM

ok I raised the shocks up one hole to lower the chassis, and threw the Rock Crushers on the DC7's just to see what they looked like.

Its definitely a big change. I think the tires are a bit too big though. I'm thinking the Rock Beasts will be perfect.

Well, I had no idea the Rock Beasts were so soft! Holy crap, its like holding a piece of bicycle tire tube :gasp:

Now I need foams in order to use them...dagnabit.

My other 2 sets of tires have enough rigidity to them (and must be a harder compound) that I've been installing them without foams, to get that slight tire squat, making them look more realistic (as the beadlocks hold the air in them and keep them from looking flat).

So, I'm back to the Mudslingers...for now anyways. haha

But the chassis is down lower now (shocks are mounted 1 hole higher on the chassis).

That is one fine looking truck!

WheelMan 07.16.2013 11:43 PM

Well thank you sir! :mdr:

So I tried the Rock Beast tires out for size, and I don't like them, for this build anyways. Too big IMO.

Had to cut up some old foams I had sitting around that I was never going to use, to make inserts for them (since they didn't come with any). Getting those cut to just the right size was a total PITA.

I really do love the tread pattern on the Rock Beasts though, very cool looking tire.

But in terms of scale, I think they look ridiculous. I just don't like the look of crazy oversized tires. Big tires are a definite cool factor, but I want this truck to be scale. I had to raise the chassis up way too far just to make these look right...and I still don't think they look "right". They will be coming off.
