Captain was talking about 12 cells per side. Not for whole truck.

Sorry for the delayed reaction here...

The XLB is 16.5'' center to center wheelbase and just shy of 16'' wide. In stock trim its around 10.5 lbs and actually thats what my converted one wound up weighing in at. In reality it doesnt need any more power than your typical maxx. It looks big, but in reality its basically a Mammoth ST with a extended chassis and a buggy body.

If yout decide to do one I can send you the drawing of the motor mount I designed up for it. Mike machined it up and it was a drop in conversion. (except for a slight miscalculation on my part of a couple screw hole locations.):002:

The one thing I can say about it. Everywhere I take it, people stop to look at it. Its a little different.

I think the CEN 7.7 or the HPI Baha would both be sweet conversions. But they will take a little more power. They are quite a bit heavier than the normal MT.

BTW: I really like seeing the rc's that are a little diferent. I'm getting sick of seeing e-maxx and revos. over and over. Not that they arent great trucks, but I love seeing the ones that make you stop and look for a minute. Did you guys see the Wild Dagger that someone is doing on here. Love that thing.:027:

Yeah, you mean the one that was made out of carbon fiber.
I think he is the same person who made the rustler into a 1/8 scale 2wd buggy.
His work is very precise and neat.

Thanks hautz. I will keep that one in mind. Do you think the car can handle a 1950 10t on 8s lipo?

Tom F 11.17.2006 02:01 PM

A Mamba Max 4600 would be nice...

Maybe some ingredients towards building a nice hefty MOSFET amp, or something of that ilk

an RC10GT2 would be amazing (it would stay powerred the wrong way though), but I doubt i'd get anything that pricy for xmas :(

A few more Lipos, a Mamba or some new headphones are prolly what i'll ask for :) (or subsequently buy myself if it comes to it lol)

aqwut 11.17.2006 03:24 PM

I'm gonna attempt to make "something" like a baja 5B with all my spare ACNCM Maxx.... gonna be 22.5" wheelbase... 19.25" wide in the rear, and 17.75" in the front... around 32 - 36" in length... it will be less than 20Lbs... using NiMH... and/or less than 18Lbs with Lipos....

JH.. that wild dagger looked awesome... very unique... I like seeing something different myself....

I have another GST 7.7 Roller, Minus tranny and wheels laying around... I gotta do something with it... Just don't know what yet....

But that wild dagger looks really sweet...

The only question would be the diffs. They seem solid but 8s would make slot of torque. The rest of the drivetrain is solid as they get.

My gut reaction says yes it would take it... But only one way to find out for sure....

coolhandcountry 11.17.2006 07:05 PM

I have to see. I may check out one. I may just mod up the mgt I got.
I may get some stuff for my atv or real truck project.

coolhandcountry 11.22.2006 09:14 PM

I am leaning to this truck hard.

I am planning a phat system for it as well.

This is surely gonna cost you some money.
I hope your lady will handle such a humongous bill.:)

coolhandcountry 11.23.2006 08:13 AM

I plan to buy the motor. The esc is being returned from bk now. So the truck will be the big part. So It won't be ready until early next year. I am in the
process of another project as well. I won't release any pics until farther along.

jhautz 11.23.2006 12:25 PM

Any guesses on what that will weigh? I wouldn't be concerned with the motor / batts /esc being a problem. I think your plan sounds pretty solid. The thing I would be more worried about is the drivetrain. Strong diffs, etc... There aren't going to be any aftermarket parts for that truck if the stock stuff isn't strong enough for that kind of power and weight.

The power that motor and battery set will create will no doubt generate unreal torque, but the weight of a large truck combined with the weight of all of those batteries and all the torque that power system will generate will put alot of strain on the diffs and other drivetrain components.

Just something to think about while planning this out.

Looks like its gonna be a really cool project. :dft003: Definitely different. I like different. :)

coolhandcountry 11.23.2006 12:47 PM

It is 14lbs rtr as dual nitro. I going to lose two tanks two motors two pipes. Only gain one 1950 but lipo will be lighter than nimh. I think the batts going to be 1400 grams. I will get a weight later. I am thinking smaller tires on the truck as well. The ones on it is 7 inches tall. I will have to find something with anti ballooning action. I will shoot for 60 mph with this setup. Which shouldn't be to hard. I may squeeze 70 if goes good. :D

jhautz 11.23.2006 01:49 PM

Wow. Thats lighter than I would have guessed. I expected more like 16-17lbs like the CEN 7.7.
