To be honest, I don't understand why everybody says BK's service is horrible...I had great service with them. Yea, it took about a month, but thats not bad. I shipped it to FD and then they shipped it to Germany and then FD shipped me one from there inventory and BK covered them on it with there next order. Not to mention I think it fried because it got wet, but they replaced it for free...

Bomb-Proof 01.29.2007 06:46 PM

My personal experience was, Ran the ESC less than 5 minutes and smoked a row of FETs. Sent it in, 9 months later they want to charge a repair fee, but Jamie at Starluck worked it out and didnt have to pay a fee. Kinda stinks for service on a $375 ESC.

You were dealing with FD, not BK. You would still be waiting if you were dealing with BK.

MetalMan 01.30.2007 12:34 AM

You've probably heard mine already, but my first 9918 took 4 months for repair, and the 2nd 9918 took 6 months.

squeeforever 01.30.2007 12:52 AM

Damn...9 months is rediculously to long. However, whether I was dealing with FD or BK, it still only took a month. If I'm not mistaken, Travis, didn't you go through Mike? Which I would think would be about the same as going through FD (what I mean by that is there is a middleman and Mike is fast as hell, so...)...If anything I would expect it to take longer to go through a retailer, unless its Mike.

MetalMan 01.30.2007 01:58 AM

First time was through Starluck RC, 2nd time was through Mike.

Bomb-Proof 01.30.2007 11:13 AM

I have done 2 schulze through FD, 1 back within 2 weeks, one in 6 months, and EmaxxJeremy did one and got a $200 repair bill and a bag of fets.

SKiTZ 01.30.2007 03:37 PM

Which motor will give the longest run times? I heard the pletty was more efficient.

Bomb-Proof 01.30.2007 03:59 PM

On runtimes the pletty and nue are going to be very close.

Serum 02.01.2007 07:33 AM

Yeah, their efficiency is close, If you take the same KV, the runtime is about equal.

Yes, that souns like schulze.. He promised me to replace my controller for free.. But i did get a 75 dollar bill, with a PIC controller in a bag.. the 75 dollars where ´research-investigation´

Bomb-Proof 02.01.2007 11:19 AM

lol, reasearch.

I am the reason for the line in the rules " cannot use two motors arranged on common spur". Since I was in spec on every other rule of theirs, they made that one up just for me. And by them saving a couple dollars and not replacing my controller, I cost them thousands by reporting it to everyone wanting to buy a controller. Brilliant schulze....

These new guys dont know how bad it used to be, or they would REALLY REALLY appreciate the Castle guys.....

glassdoctor 02.01.2007 12:27 PM

Bomb... I remember reading about BL back in the day... but I never got one until the Hacker combo.

If anyone doesn't appreciate what we have now, we should make them buy a coupel airplane controllers and mess with them for a while. Then buy a Schulze... then they can graduate to a CC or Quark, etc.

:)

Well I haven't been on RC forums nor the RC niche in a long time. Kinda got busy and all stuff just put on halt especially all my hobbies. I don't really even know why I ended up at Monster-RC checking out the forums. LOL

Anyhow, I really like my Plettenberg BigMaxximum, yeah and been lucky not to burn out my Schulze 18.97 KW, and I do run 18 cells on it.

I run my full aluminum G-Maxx with that motor/esc combo and love it. I haven't played with it in a long time but when I have, it ran great.

I also have a few other brushless motors but I do prefer my Plettenberg over them. If I wasn't using my Plettenberg BigMaxximum, I would probably run a Lehner 1940 or maybe the Feigao 7XL that I have on the G-Maxx.
I am planning on buying a Plettenberg Bolido with 10 lipo cell config for my 1/5 scale McLaren F1 project to replace the Gas Engine I took out. I really like these motors and would be first on my list before considering anything else or Lehner motors tho I wouldn't mind looking into these "neu" motors. I haven't been around so I am not so familiar with the new stuff.

Here is a pic of my old ride.. Probably lost in the forums by now, with all these great projects I have seen.
All scuffed up with all the bashing but still looks good on the pics tho they are old pics.. LOL I do even have a vid I made bashing of it long time ago somewhere.
Yeah I like posting pics ever since people used to always ask for pics so there..

I even planned on running dual BigMaxximum's on my Full custom Monster Truck, I just need to finish the axle project with the supermaxx 8 spider diffs that are 98% complete. Yeah this one is more of a show truck but at least I run my G-Maxx like a basher. Yeah You can say I really like the Plettenberg motors.. LOL..
