Yes but I have seen many Hit that number at the races!!
That is why most people replace the engines in less than 1 gallon of fuel.
My stock O.S..18 in my TNX has about 3.5 gallons in it and I can still hit 41mph.It runs about 220 with 30% nitro .
My poor Sportwerks had almost 3 gallons of nitro untill my crash.
I would have to say most people put O.S..18tm in there Traks cars and trucks.

so what wold be better for my revo? tm or tz. im looking for something to race and bash with. but good power.

Daniel Murray 07.16.2005 06:09 AM

If you like big horse power like 2.3hp go with the TZ. The tm is 1.6hp

I have had very good luck wit the TRX 2.5 motor. If you follow the break in and don't try too hard to tune it (a little goes a long way), they are good running, reliable, fast motors. The Traxxas motor do tend to run a bit on the hot side, though. Aways have. The RDLogics high end pipe is pretty impressive with the 2.5 motor.
If you hop up the motor, OS is the way to go. I have the tm .18 in my Revo. OS motors run like champs and hold a tune extremely well. The TM is a direct fit, while the TZ may take a little lovin to get into the Revo. The TZ is also a bit of a handful without a chassis extension.

Daniel,
I have the .27 broken in for the most part. It seems to run/idle very well(though I did replace the glow plug with an OS #8). I will give you some more info after the weekend. It seemed to run a bit warm yesterday(250), but not out of control, and it was HOT! I will let you know how the weekend fairs with the motor.

so with the tz would it be as reliable as the tm? or would you sacrefice reliability for performance?

RC-Monster Mike 07.20.2005 10:47 PM

I have yet to see a properly cared for small block OS motor that runs poorly. They simply make the best small block motors IMH.

Daniel - I drove the .27 through the weekend. It performed quite well, and ran like a top, though it did run on the hot side, as you suggested it would. It was (is) still breaking in, so the temps will go down a bit, but it seems like a winner so far.

Mike how is that engine doing?
When will you put some Engines in the store for sale?

Engine still running strong, but I broke the pullstart cord(no worries as I have a bump box). I actually get a lot of folks asking about it when they see it run-it tops out pretty fast, actually. For the money, it is a good deal for sure. I will work on listing some nitro motors in the store. :)
