Don't worry about the extra room for any caps.
I just wondered and was also a little confused about the design.
Anyway if i wanted to add some it is still possible.

Well I highly recommend adding more caps, and S&T does as well.

Mike replied back, he recommends simplifying it more... like no rounded edges, make edga chamfer instead. And the bottom where the fins meet the motor mounts had to be changed.

I'll update once refined some more.

it doesn't really matter much,

but i may add some as many people around here, including S&T as you mentioned as well as others, say that it is better to add some if you can.

the capaciters in the Quark are 330uf low esr caps aren't they.

Also in some ways having squared corners would be better than rounded as you would have more material, therefore theoretically a larger surface area and machining costs a bit lower.

They are low-esr type yes. I have to go for edge chamfer instead of fillet. Chamfer is the edge taken off, usually at a 45' angle. Something that small, it would still look like a fillet anyways.

Here is the case with Edge Chamfer instead of Fillet. Also, the bottom is modified to make it easier machined. I asked Mike if it were a good idea to chop the bottom off of it and use his heatsink for bottom and mouting, to reduce costs of course.

How much would this cost? Really nice case designs.

zeropointbug 06.07.2007 09:34 PM

Thanks. :dft009:
I have not got a price back yet for it, from Mike. Although I am not done designing it, and MIGHT make it flat bottom so it can be used with his Monster esc mount. We will see.

That's with the updated heat spreader and clamps. Notice the small slots for the top cover to slide into?
