I agree with you Brian, nothing more annoying than waiting on parts!
I purchased a few spur gears and a set of arms for my LS10. I can safely say that the spur gear will never wear out. It is more than 1/4" wide and is mod 1. I have about 5 hours on it, and I bought the truck used. It has not worn at all. The arms are also very sturdy too. I have replaced the front dogbones with hpi mt2 cvds. And the rear dogbones will pop out from time to time, some shock limiters seem to cure this. Other than that nothing else has broken, so it seems to be a good truck. |
so are you confirming that this truck is simular and will share some parts with the hpi mt/mt2/mtss/mtss+?
I would not say that it is similar. The mt2 is not anywhere as strong as the ls10. The cvds fit fine though.
ls10 being stronger sure sounds attractive, i can't wait till fedex shows up.

I got the 9L motor in today, looks brand new, thanks Lincpimp. Im gonna try and start on my motor mount tomorrow but im pretty swamped since i just got a new job at a machine shop. Hopefully ill have it all together by the end of next week and ill order my charger and have it here by the next weekend.
hey, for motor mounts, i noticed offshore has a few generic mounts. would that be an easy option or do you guy recomend something custome/one off?
The OSE motor mounts are to thin IMO to be used in a rc vehicle, they will most likely bend, with a heavy motor and alot of jumping.
im using .160 7075 T6 for mine. im gonna go through a few drill bits but itll be ok. It should be just like yours lincpimp except ill have a bolt on "L" to attach it to the chassis plate also instead of just the center bulkhead.
The angle should work well and it wil draw some heat out of the motor too, bonus!
i found some aluminum online and in the angled stock i can go anywhere from 1/8th to 1/2" in thickness. i'm thinking the 3/16" would do fine to make something. also its 6061 t-6, so not as strong. the 3/16 is good for making an L_____ shape, but i'm also thinking if i get something like the 3/8-1/2", i could just stand it on its side and tap/thread right into it. any opinions?
1/8 inch thick should be plenty thick for you tashpop. the .160 7075 T6 that im gonna use is completely overkill and when i get some pics up of me bashing mine yall will see why. my truck will be tortured, i have a motocross track and full size FMX ramp at my house (its what i started doing two years ago when i got out of RC) and im sure itll see plenty of time well over 20 feet in the air and gaps as big as 45-50 feet on my smaller doubles.
i think i need to see more custome motor mounts. i'm having a hard time deciding best/easiest way to do it. i noticed tower also has some ammo mounts for their motors that support the front and rear of the motor with adjustible lengths
sorry, i don't mean to keep trying to take over this thread, but it seems to fit.
do you guys think the motor mount will work? this shop is a couple of miles from my house. http://www.newcreations-rc.com/Produ...umber=HLAN2097 |
i dunno if that would work or not. i have my truck here now. Im very impressed wait till you get yours tashpop your gonna love it, very well built. Im pulling the gas motor out tomorrow and will try and mock up a motor plate and show you, i could even make a second one if you want (pm me about it later this week).

Doesnt look like it has any adjustment for gear mesh. Probably not ideal. |
