What ive been up to, just in case some one ask aboot the motors. The truck is going to be twin brushless though im not sure what engines ill be running? I still got alot of sanding and polishing to do, if I like this project enough im going to have to send it to be anodized by MR paintin.

this is just a mock up, any suggestions on motors/gearing (diffs are 11/45 spur is 48T) would be greatly apriciated.

Motors depends on your budget really, but a couple L can sized items would be plenty of poke for a 10lb truck or there abouts. Im thinking maybe feigao 10L motors with MM escs, or for a more upmarket setup what about some Neu 1509s and MM escs. The voltage you decide on will better determine the exact motor choice and gearing, but its a very simple calculation thanks to BrianG.

Again thank you neil! ive been playing with the calculator trying to figure out what to use, ive read what I can on the subject and seen issues of heat. I also think im going to run 3-4s per motor. tahnks again for the help.
BTW what do you think would be a better set up? 5700 maba's or the 10Ls the nue set up might be out of what im willing to spend on this truck :), maybe ill change my mind later but this truck is going to bashed.

Hi its me... I am have a question for you... Do you think the Hot Bodies Lightning PRO will work well with the LST diff case?

http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...d=HPI_PRO_DIFF

I am currently prepping my e-maxx for brushless (feigao 8xl) and I concentrating on getting the driver train strengthened first... I am also on a very small budget ... So I am hoping this mod will help me.

I would say to run a pair of 9l motors on 3s lipo each. That would be a killer setup that should run cool. That also means that you do not need a ubec, just disable one of the mm internal becs by removing the red wire. Plus batteries would be cheaper too.

You could run a pair of the traxxas vxl systems, but I think the motors are too small.

I dont go much on the VXL systems for a twin motor truck either, but a couple L cans on 3s sounds do-able. Depends how fast you wanna go really 9Ls will be a bit faster, but run a bit warmer too- depends how heavy the finished truck is I guess. So long as you put a little fan on each esc, they should stay nice and cool too- or do the capacitor mod like GriffinRU does for people.

Thank you and ill look into it, I guess I cant decide on a combo till I get the actual weight of the truck. So far its very light, the truck is so stiff right now that im thinking of running a carbon fiber chassis on it (im also in the midst of making the aluminum one, just need to finalize how I want this thing to look) again thanks for the help:mdr:

Nice :mdr: and thanks for the good info! ill start looking into the set ups you guys mentioned!

Whats up man, as soon as I can find were my kids put my ruler ill measure the ring and pinion for you. Do you have the HB diffs already? If not a set of muggy or LST-2 diffs are really cheap on ebay.

BP-Revo 02.13.2008 02:10 AM

To be honest I'd go all out and run two 7XL on 4S Lipo each.

For the ring gear I get a hair over 35MM for the 43T, im guessing aslong as the HB's are as small they should fit?

BP-do you think the 7Xl would heat up on me, im building this truck to play with and not just short bursts.

lincpimp 02.14.2008 01:46 AM

Personally a pair of 7xls will be overkill to play with. For all out speed you need power, to play you will most likely be happy with a combo that can put out 1.5 hp continuous. A pair of 15l feigaos on 5s lipo would be plenty of power (at least 2hp), and would run good temps as well. Battery cost and weight is a consideration, but a pair of 3000mah 5s 20c lipos would be plenty for that setup. A pair of quark 80 amps escs would be a good choice for that too. You are looking at a decent amount of cost, but I am sure that you would be happy with the result.

Project will be pieced together so cost is not to much of a concern, only thing I would like to stay away from is building a complete shelf queen. Let alone a maxx, years back ive spent enough money on maxx's to buy a nice used car:drunk: I will never make that mistake again LOL!!! This truck is basically for me to play in the park with my kids, the neighbors tolerate the nitro's but I know they would appreciate the silence of a brushles.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I am really very much a noob to BL lol.
Oh almost forgot, ive read about heat issues with the 7XL I live in Hawaii so ambient air tems are pretty high all the time, im not sure if thats relevant or not?
