Well guys after a long wait my build is finally back on track. The motor was installed awhile back with four 90 degree steel brackets to hold it 100% secure onto the chassis. Im going to be running all 10awg wire. 10awg wire is already installed onto the motor output with deans connectors. I will be purchasing more 10awg for the harness to wire three 12v PB's toghther into one ESC. I will for sure be using an AstroFlight 204D "HV" brushed airplane ESC. It handles up to 60 volts input and has a 60a output. Ive talked to people on RC-Groups that run combos such as mine in their planes with similar motors minus the heavy batts and they say that the esc doesnt even get a tad bit warm so im confident it'll be fine. Plus its going to stay below 30 degrees here for the next 4-5 months or so. The rollcage was reinstalled and I cut out the 2nd servo mount in the front for room for the ESC. The batteries will be placed one behind the motor and 2 on the left side of the chassis towards the rear. Total weight will be around 32.8lbs. Ill post pics of it here in a few minutes.

You've got an awesome build going. I've wanted a 1/5th for a long time but never had the money to get even a gas one (not to mention go electric with it). Hopefully you can get it running soon, it's looking good so far. |
Thanks guys, Hey U.S. is your idea related to a spring loaded chain tensioner like this bike shifter.

That is a very securely mounted motor you have there. It's missing a wire, though; can you run a motor with only two wires?????????????
Haha, looking good man! |

Are you still going lipo or what? Looks badass man. I still think it looks much better w/o the cage though.
It does look better w/o the rollcage but its on their for a purpose. I will be going with PB's instead of lipos because its not only cheaper but their well protected with a hard case. Even though they weigh a bit more the 1/5's springs are good for up to 15-20lbs+ of extra weight.
Tisk Tisk..... Should have left it gas IMO. Much better setup as a gasser, much less hassle of all this setup. And a brushed motor, come on dude..... step it up, get a big outrunner.
Gas= Traitor to RCM... IMO. Plus I like to be unique.
Exactly! Now tell wayne to convert that muggy he is getting...

Deisel- I dont think Ill be able to get threw to him unless something happends to his nitro setup. Metalman- Hey atleast its electric...
Ooh!! I have an idea. When he's not home run it super super lean and blow the motor, then when he goes to start it, it won't work!
Electric FTW....
Brushless Ftw x2
Electric "X" FTW.
?
... |
Yep you know it...

"Oh my God, Betsy look at her butt. It's so big! It's like out there. She must be one of those rapper-guys girlfriends."

Totally random...?

Ok guys got some more pics. Weve noe got 25inches+ on the ground with 40in or more drifts everywere. Here are some shots of my 1/5 with its new plow setup. I still need to find a better plow but the framework is very rigid and should hold up. Im also going to have it adjustable.
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...wnRCU/1-17.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...wnRCU/2-17.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...wnRCU/3-17.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...wnRCU/4-15.jpg |
Looks good.... now get it running then we'll talk
Lol, I'll stick to my 1:1 truck to get the plowing done.
Haha, Im going to be ordering the Astroflight 207b esc today. Might order the sprokets and chain today aswell.
It should get threw snow plenty good. Will weigh around 33lbs loaded.
Is it 4wd? I forgot LOL It might do good.
Its 2wd for now but most of the weight is towards the rear end so it should be fine. Plus it will be geared lower to contend with the snow.
Good news guys! I ordered the AstroFlight 204D ESC, 11t 8mm #25 sproket, 13t 8mm #25 sproket, 48links or #25 chain. Total came to $97.41.
Ill let you guys know when the stuff arrives. |
Check mcMaster carr for cheaper stuff
It was decently priced. Lutach helped me look for sprokets/chain awhile back. This is the cheapest we could come up with.
