hey shaun im not sure what type of tank you have but if this is what we used to use when we had our own tanks.

screw it on... attach your tank to it and press the button!

just be sure not to fill the tank more than 3000psi obviously (im guessing you got a 3k tank.)

its great to hear that the gun works fine!

Silver_Flame101 10.05.2008 10:46 PM

This project has become way cooler than I ever thought it could. I do have to wonder how you will be able to drive it and access the rockets and paintball gun at the same time.

I knew he would need a 6+ channel radio, but I was wondering how he could drive the car and activate the rockets or paintball gun at the same time.

What's_nitro? 10.05.2008 10:55 PM

Probably with the little toggle switches in the top corners. He said he was gonna use a 360* servo to activate the rockets all at once. If the radio had two momentary toggles then he could shoot one at a time.

gtxracer 10.05.2008 11:12 PM

DX6 or DX7 would do it perfectly.

And I just might have to make some attachments for my truck and see if any local guys want to battle it out :diablo:

Hay Phil.. Yes it’s all for real and it all works.. I’ve already sliced up my fingers pretty good and I all most stabbed myself in the gut when I picked it up.. This thing is dangerios, so once the video is made and if know one else wants to do battle I’ll make this my first official shelf queen.. LOL..

As of cost I'm assuming you just refereeing to the “project X” stuff so here is the breakdown:
$165 Paint gun
$150 Paint balls and hopper & flex house
$125 (3) difernet air tanks takes
$80 Air Regulator
$110 Arrow heads, wheel adapters & fins (for rockets)
$15 Rockets
$100 Misc. (paint, front ram, rear wing, wire, etc)

Total project “X” costs (not to bad)

NOoooo there will be no drinking driving or just plain picking it up LOL.LOL

Thanks for the kind words sir and have great week..

Thanks for the kind words SF101.. I’ll be using a 6 channel radio with pre programmed moods, I’ve got buddies who use a 12 channel radio for their plane builds, so they tell me it’s no big deal..

Now I’ve got the gun on the third channel and have to manuly ignite the rockets (BOOO) but in do time I’ll have it all dialed in, hopefully intime for the So-Cal bash on the 19h.. (look out boys) LOL.LOL..

Thanks again for stopping buy and saying hay…

I'm still open to any and all suggestion on how to make it “meaner” if you got any please don’t be shy.. lets here them..

Thank you for the kind words Sir. That really made my night..

It’s not easy keeping up with the big dogs here, but I think I'm close LOL. At least I know my truck can beat there’s in a race now.. LOL.LOL “I pity the fool that passes me” HHHhhaaa. Sorry I crack myself up sometimes.

Anyway:
I can usually pump these things out pretty easy and it’s really the only time I get to drink / puff and truly relax (enjoy DAD’s time).. But sadly this build is coming to a close, so I'm looking / trying to think outside the box for my next project.. Got any ideas ???

Have a great week and thanks for leaving comments..

thephilonator 10.06.2008 01:53 AM

Hey Shaun,

got a few ideas,
1) i think you should maybe paint the hopper to match the paint scheme cos currently the hopper looks a bit out of place (which it obviously is)
2) maybe also paint the ram on the front???
3)if i were you, i'd have cut the hole on the front for the paintball gun a little smaller to look more subtle (if its possible for a truck with arrowheads on the side to look 'subtle') LOL.
4) for your next build maybe build a mobile drink station that carries beer or whisky or whatever. or do what you've done to your Xray to a plane? make it look like spitfire or something.

very good work Shaun.

jordan... 10.06.2008 02:38 AM

Ever thought of an onboard camera mounted in the blower or a laser sight for the paintball gun? Just putting it out there...

How about something like a Tornado Intercept Vehicle (T.I.V.)? Also, if u don't want paint everywhere, u could get some of the reuseable rubber paintballs?, cops use it as a less than lethal round:yes:.

it would suck having to run around looking for the paintballs though

then again if you have kids i am sure they would have fun doing that:lol:

Arct1k 10.06.2008 03:32 PM

I think you need the onboard cam with a HUD. I would also add a self righting mechanism - the less you have to go near that thing the better!

bustitup 10.06.2008 04:43 PM

I think you should add an onboard self distruct servo...if a bunch of trucks get you cornered you flip a switch and take out anything within 3 feet

Even easier, just have a servo attached to a nail that punctures the on-board lipos.

I actuallly built a self-righting mechanism for a stampede. It's the ideal vehicle to use for self righting because it flips over so much and has ample space under the body between the chassis for the mechanism. I found out that you have to use a really strong servo, and brace it to the chassis very well, as the lexan flexes under the load. The 'pede weighed 4.3lb with a 2s lipo installed, and rustler tires. I used a 645mg servo, that'd been modified to have a lower gear ratio, so it'd run about half the speed. The righting mechanish would come out of the body, and was a flap of sorts- I cut out a square-ish hole in the body that the flap would sit into. I had the servo mounted adjacent to the body, laying flat against it. I set the servo trim set all the way to the left, and it would come up slowly, the high edge of the flap raising about 2in above the top of the cab of the body. It was located in the front of the cab, and would flip the truck over, with the rear wheels hitting first. I've got to admit, it wasn't easy making it, especially the gear reduction. You shoulda' seen the look on my friend's face when he saw my truck randomly right itself! :mdr:

Unfortunately you can't exactly add channels to a Radio. You might consider the Spektrum DX5e. It's under $100, 5 Channels, and despite being made for planes it will probably meet your needs. I use a DX6i on my Crawler and it works perfectly and gets great range. The DX6i or DX7 would work even better for you as they are 6 and 7 channel radios respectively and have switches for the channels 5-7.

TDC57 10.09.2008 05:39 AM

Thanks guy’s it’s real cool and even better in person.. I'll be posting Video tomorrow, but I’ve got a quick question for the team.. Shaun.

Hmmm. I'm trying to think of how that could possibly work. The DX3.0 has only one button for channel 3 that works as an On/Off switch or as a held button. It can also be used to send signal from the steering channel (I think, assuming I recall correctly) to the third channel.

If it were possible to have different servos connected that respond to different parts of the channel feed, you may be able to use the servo mixing option for channel 3 to control different servos. I'm just not sure how that would be done.

When you do find the thread I'd be curious how they did it. I could actually use that ability myself for a project I'm working on. (I was presently intending to use my DX6i, but if I could use a proper RC Car remote, that'd be better for control reasons)

And thank you for the kind Welcome.

TDC57 10.12.2008 02:50 AM

Forward progress continues

So after spending some good quality time with some long over due friends (you the know the type) and getting completing trashed Friday night (IE) opening my mind to new ideas beyond the box or 2nd elements and recovering Saturday I was ale to think of and incorporate a couple of new ideas into / for my Battle truck..

1. Smoke finally arrived (Yyhhaaa) But having a single discharge for it out the rear seams to not quite fit the (OOOooo, OOOOOooo,OOOOooo / EI testosterone) I'm going for so I’ve setup this duel stainless steel braided house with a manifold, exhausting out a 1 1/2 “ Alum fitting. :yipi: ( LOL.LOL.) I’ve got MetMan finalizing up the system now.

2. I also added two slayer front bumpers as side protection between the wheels.

3. I Also Added (YOU WILL LOVE THIS!!) A fishing net with the ends in weights shooting out the rear of the truck. :gasp: I'm planning on running this system off a standard 2.4 oz co2 cartridge, but I also might have discovered a way to tap into my gun tank (Mad scientist laugh here ). I just need it to blast the net out once (approx 10’ behind me) / YOU KNOW (IE) to entangle the rear chasing cars (of course what else would it be for)

4. I’ve also included (2) new front spears  (yes I’m going there), I’ve ordered a taser and I'm hoping to be able or metalman / linc?? to (somehow / TBD) hook up it’s firing mechanism to the blades and shoot those out along with the added voltage of tasaser. I'm hoping that is enough to immobilize any oncoming theat.. Or I drop a full size man with the tasers and then go full auto on his ass with the paint..LOL.LOL (just kidding) :na:

5. The fifth adjustment was to install a skull and cross bone on the hopper. I’ve scaled it off and PM a friend of mine who will make a decal, but for now this the basic idea..

6. The next addition was to add lights to the skull eye’s I found some that I think will work nicely :mdr:

7. The last little sadistic addition was to screw down thought he chassis with sharp metal screws, that way if some one (other than ME) went to pickup the truck from the bottom they would rip up there hands..

Thanks for you time team

Have a great one everyone and thanks ahead for leaving your comments on how I can improve this build…

So just a recap:  (There’s been some improvements)..
I’m (going for) building / got / will have a fully auto 16sec per shoot 200 round electric skull and cross bone hoper, 8 rocket a shooting, 6 steal spikes a gouging, duel smoke a bellowing, skull eyes a glowing, front taser shooting, tire slashing, and (lets not forget) the rear net shooting “BATTLE TRUCK”

Holly @#$^!.. LOL.LOL.LOL..

Enjoy the pictures…

TDC57 10.12.2008 02:59 AM

Mr. Mod’s… Why cant I post pictures’ anymore ?? They are all linc’s now.. Did I screw up and go past my limit ??.. :oh:

I like the firing mech vid, were you listening to fleetwood mac? Stevie Nics is like a drunken sailor wench, sounds like she has smoked for at least 150 years... And that gold dust woman song just sucks, however i think that was her side project, nothing to do with lindsay or mick... Back to your regularly scheduled battle truck viewing!
