2 packs finished!

http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3133.jpg

The shrink needs a bit more heat, but I leave it like that so when the packs heat up evenly the shrink pulls tight. Plus I am not really fond of heating the packs with the heat gun...

skellyo 03.13.2009 01:22 PM

Awesome! 1 down, 1 to go.

I have them seperated and I need to solder the tap wires and the main leads on. I should have them done after work so I will Pm you.

lincpimp 03.14.2009 04:48 PM

Ok, packs are done, heres a pic of the 4...

http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...p/DSCF3134.jpg

Note red cup with brow "mystery" liquid. That is a rather potent crown and coke. Weather sucks right now and the pimp is feeling down, so a little liquor should help...

lincpimp 03.14.2009 05:04 PM

And for my next trick, I will turn the 8 2s packs shown below into 4 4s packs...

Glad they got there safe. Looking at your work in this thread I am so happy to have you working on those babies.

Isn't that wire on those PQ-5000XQ packs ridiculous!

Very curious to see what is inside those hard case packs...

Thanks so much for the service and take your time.

They are cells made in China. Linc just rewired a hard case PQ pack just like the red ones pictured above. Enerland cells, just made in China.

Yep, I just opened up one of the HC lipos and it has made in china stamped on the cells. I will have a look at the soft 5000 packs and see if they are the same cells, I am sure that they are.

Jeremy1976 03.14.2009 06:51 PM

This thread is pretty cool!

Electric Dave 03.14.2009 06:55 PM

Well, regardless of where they were made, they rock:

What's_nitro? 03.14.2009 10:22 PM

Linc it looks like you've got some work ahead of you! Hey, what's with the Deans on the 8AWG wire?

lincpimp 03.17.2009 08:51 PM

A little update on those 8 2s packs for Electric Dave (and anyone who cares)

I have the 6000 and 5000 soft case cells assembled into 4s packs. All cells are balanced and ready to shrink.

Just have the hard case lipos to do. The 5000 cells in the soft case were identical to the HC ones, BTW.

And the deans plugs on those "jumper cables" is pretty funny. I guess if you really want to push the packs hard the huge wire is necessary, but you would have to use some big (6.5mm) bullets with them... I have run 4s and 6s setups hard, and never had a deans plug get hot or melt...

I just bought a new pair of the 5100 25c hard case lipos from HC... If you happen to be a platinum member they have a killer deal on them right now... worth taking a look...

And in case anyone is interested I do have a pair of 6000 2s 25c polyquest packs (identical to the ones pictured a few posts back) for sale. I ran them in the erevo with the 1515 1.5d and a MMM. Since I sold the truck and motor, I really do not need a 4s setup like this. Maybe 20-25 cycles on them, in perfect shape save for the std rubbed off writing on the label (all pq packs do this) Pm me if interested...

8AWG wire? thats nothing... I occasionally have to solder 6AWG wire... Thats when the mother of all irons gets pulled out. 500W!

Anyways, I have my puffed RC-Monster packs packed up, and should be postmarked 3/18...

That's when I would use screw terminals!!

My friend uses something like that when he solderes copper plates together.

And when electric power isn't enough, he uses this -

Ok Electric Dave, all of your packs are assembled. Just need to shrink them and they can go back to you. I will put some pics up tomorrow after I shrink them up.

Let me say one thing, I really prefer enerland lipos over everything else. They are so easy to work on and the just exude quality... Good stuff.

skellyo 03.19.2009 08:06 AM

Got my packs in yesterday. They look great!

Metallover 03.19.2009 08:15 AM

You guys got some pics?

Thanks very much for the progress report and the kudos on the Enerland brand. I like to think that you get what you pay for and while they are somewhat premium priced, they have always performed quite well.

Looking forward to the 4s packs!

mjderstine 03.19.2009 09:18 AM

Hey lincpimp. just wondering if there was any status updates on the packs that i sent you. you remember them right, the ugly ones 2 different 3cell packs with the nasty glue on the end. any luck with them?

Good to hear they arrived. Seems to be taking longer than the 2-3 days from Slidell these days. I guess the PO is slacking up on priority shipments.

Enerland definitely has strict QC on their packs. I have owned packs for just about all of the companies that use enerland cells and have had 1 pack with a bad cell. It was a well used pack, and I do not know if the previous owner balanced it...

I have had some fun trying to get the glue off... One pack is staying in balance well, the other has one bad cell, and it is the middle cell. I will try some low heat on the heat gun to melt the glue, but I may not be able to get it apart... I will keep trying.

mjderstine 03.19.2009 10:55 AM

thanks for the update. no rush though. i have more than enough projects to keep me busy.

I will take some pics of my various projects and post them up here. Should make everyone feel better about themselves....

I like to start tings, but get bored quickly. It took me a year to convert a lst (only took about 8-10hrs, but I spread it over a year). Once I get moving on a project it usually goes quickly. Except crawlers, they take forever to get just right...

lincpimp 03.19.2009 01:17 PM

Here is a pic of the packs I made for Electric Dave, in case anyone was interested...

nice lookin batts

I don't know if you remember the pack I got from takedown and I was going to finish it myself... It was basically three cells hooked together and I put wires on it. I would want you to take all the wires off and put new leads on with astro taps and deans, then shrink er together and send it back. Let me know if you need any more information. The wiring is in... Rough shape now.:gasp:

Any enerland cell based pack (ie, polyquest, polyrc, flightpower, neuenergy, hyperion, etc)

Maxamps (all)

Hi Linc, are Neuenergy Packs actually using Enerland cells? Note their capacity numbers are completely different to the ones listed on Enerland's website for their XP XQ cells.
