Yea dawg, you've never seen them shootin' up?
|
ok, so FINALLY my pin holders came in... I went to put my fried MMM in the mailbox this morning, found that the mailman that never came saturday came sunday, and delivered it(stupid new mailman...) I should be up and running by monday next week(only because i am leaving for manchester NH on wednesday)
|
Hopefully you brought the pin holders to school.... i can have the hyper reassembled tonite for ya' :)
|
Well, i finally get the hyper running, and it was amazing. i took it down to the ramps down the street and was havin lots of fun crossing from ramp to ramp. Whoever made the ramps keeps making more, and i found a brand new one there today. A 5 ft kicker ramp. So I launch my hyper off of it, and it topped out around 12-16 ft in the air before i landed perfectly on the downramp! Unfortunatley, that was the end of my fun. Later I think the pinion is loose, but it is not. there is a chunk the width of the spur gear where the pinion was eaten down to nothing! So it was time to call it quits, and so I just shifted the pinion so I could drive it home and not carry it. On my way out, i deside to hit one last ramp... but the hyper said no, and i should have listened... Mid-air off the ramp, the front right wheel flew off, and now I cant find it! Im going to look some more tomorrow, but if that doesnt work, does anybody have a spare stock losi 8ight 2.0 rim with a fake bandland (fagland) tire on it?
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/PICT0053.jpg IDK but something tells me I'm missing something... http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...PICT0055-1.jpg Spur gear got hungry... |
That's unfortunate.
|
Haha, funny.
I just took it out, and inspired from your story, I took it to the BIG concrete ramps (in the sidewalk... There's trees next to it, so it's a BIG stump), and snipped the little dip that they didn't repair (everything else is repaired with black tar, except this 2in gap), it flipped, cartwheeled at least 7 times, and almost hit a car. I was standing on the sidewalk, with my mouth open. The car stopped, looked out, parked, and started watching me. I took it back, (it drove back actually :p) and looked at it. No damage, except the skid plate came loose from the steering cover, so the front was going forward and back, no biggie. Take it off the next ramp, land it, I love this, have not jumped real jumps (besides curbs) in a while! Couple times, I land perfectly, I'm a happy camper, and only 2 more people have came by, stopped, and watched me. This land one, I had a bad feeling. I clipped the tree, it spun sideways, hit me in the leg, and skidded in the dirt. I felt bad. My LiPo was all dirty, my wing has scraped so much, there's dirt instead of a wing, and more little stuff. I was done for the day, did some more speed runs while I walked up my hill, and finished my run. I'm happy, and I forgot too look for the missing screws. Oh well, time to go shopping! :] |
Since I had some downtime, and ive lost $20+ in pinions in the past 2 days, I created a pinion guard for my hyper. it is basically a plate that sits infront of the shaft so that if the pinion comes loose, it cant fall off the shaft and be lost forever!

Lol, I'd be quite pissed if I lost over $20 + in pinions in less than 2 days. >_<

I have probably thrown aways 2-3k worth of lipo cells by now... Luckily most were not mine. |
.....
Jesus. That's a ton of quality lipos! |

:gasp:
$600 would make me cry. |
at least whoever did learned a valuable lesson about lipos... on another note, i have videos! At the end of the last video you dont see the hyper again til it falls out of the sky... It landed on all fours(like a puma), but it still hit the ground kinda hard... all that happened is that it unvelcro-ed the mmm and rx, and desoldered a wire off my deans. i was back up and running in 5 minutes!

Well, as most of you know, my MMM detonated, and took my RC-M lipos with it, but fortunatley I will be able to race with using some of ben's spare lipos and my MM/8L setup!

Yeah yeah, Your in luck mike. Now you need wheels and tires for the thing. hard packed clay and Big block treads dont mix... makes me wish i had my holeshots again.
|
Glad to hear you're at least running a temp. setup!
|
Isn't the 2650 built by Castle only, and the 2200 is a Neu/Castle?
|
No. They're both neu/castle motors.
|
Oh, ok...thanks. For some reason I was under the impression that the 2650kV was a CC motor, but I am glad to hear it is a CC/Neu.
|
UPDATE: The layout of the hyper was just redone. batterytrays on either side. motor directly in the middle, servo directly in the middle, and MMM in the back. Im in school so I can't link pics, but search for eovnu87435ds on photobucket for pics!
|
Looks good Mike, the layout is tight but I like the forward battery placement, and they are about as close to the centerline as you can get. Should handle and jump very well.
Heres the pics: http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...2656507109.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...2656506054.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...2656506615.jpg |
Great motor mount, did you make that, or order it? nice buggy by the way.
|
Damn mike no props? :) Thats my work
I raced the car with the old setup.. the car nosed down horrible and would try and barrell roll in the air.. soo much fun to try and correct it in the air :) I think you have pretty much optimized the setup on this one (and by you I mean me.) ;) |
It looks good. Is that Monster Mike's creation on the motor mount?
What batteries are you running? I was looking into this general layout but I run only 1 3s or 4s pack. I dont have 2s packs and I don't want to run my batteries in parallel, yet... So I ruled it out for me for now. |
Brian G IIRC
X1-CR saddle setup... Most of my packs are 2s... http://rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19432 |
it was Brian's, then it went to whitrzac. I bought his hyper 7 as a roller for spares so now I have it.
The pics show 2 flightmax 3s 4000mah packs. They aren't mine. I just got entjoles's 2x 2s 25c 5000mah NeuEnergy lipos. At the track I use the Neus for qualifying, and then the flightmax's in parallel for 3s 8000mah for the 15 minute main |
It's been a long time since I posted, but I did alot of work to the hyper to make sure it is as perfect for the RC-M bash!! The roller I got from whitzrac was in a better condition than most of mine, and it had alot less holes in the chassis as well, so I converted everything to his. in the process I was able to do a real thorough cleaning, so I got some pics of this very rare event. Here is the newest general info about my hyper:
MMM/2650kv combo geared 14/46 2x2s NeuEnergy 25c 5000mah lipos from entjoles! RC-Monster custom motor mount made for BrianG's hyper a long time ago Airtronics 94357 servo AKA tires (Cityblocks in the front, I-beams in the rear) OFNA super thin rims Jconcepts Hyper 8 Illuzion body Jconcepts buggy wing 1 Novak tray(ben has the other on his revo, I have a new set coming in though...) Everything looks to be a nice clean setup now, its pretty well balanced and I did some tuning for the local track too Here are some pics! http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/SSPX0751.jpg The comparison shot http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/SSPX0752.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/SSPX0753.jpg New servo mount http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/SSPX0755.jpg Servo installed! http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/SSPX0756.jpg Motor mount installed http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/SSPX0757.jpg battery box installed |
You need to steal your sisters camera more often!
Looks good- we will see how she does on the track |
cool motor mount! I'm curious if it handles different like that.
I'm a big fan of the hyper 7, very solid car I think. btw, that's my conversion http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...689#post305689 florian |
