Lighter? Maybe, depends on what gears and compents you make , such as a motor mount, brackets etc. the g-maxx single speed is the next best thing for an e-maxx, or a g2r revo;)

captain harlock 12.18.2005 09:31 PM

lol, yor going for a revo, huh? good luck, though. I'm not ready to carry two fat trucks in my car.

Sylvester 12.18.2005 09:34 PM

Yep, im gonna have the 2 main things to start my truck on thursday ;) Ill take pics once everything comes in, i cant wait, im gonna use a single speed also, with mikes idlers and everything else. Two fat trucks in your car, i dont think you mean fat, i think you mean PHAT:D

captain harlock 12.18.2005 09:38 PM

Hehe, yeah, probably this one.

squeeforever 12.18.2005 09:52 PM

candyman doesnt use a center diff, he uses a center slipper from a dominator. a center diff is similar to the front and rear diffs while the center slipper is just a shaft mounted gear with a tension spring to let it slip. diff is the best way to go as it will eliminate the wheelies and will turn quicker and handle much better were as the slipper is the same as a tranny but only a spur on a shaft with a slipper instead of all the other gears in a case. if you dont want a diff a center slipper is the next best thing as they are considerable lighter.

captain harlock 12.18.2005 09:56 PM

How much do they cost, squee?

squeeforever 12.18.2005 10:26 PM

a center slipper or diff? in all honesty a diff or slipper will be cheaper than the tranny you are looking to get. can you make a motor mount and stuff? i have a ofna pcr 8 spyder diff with quad brakes i got off ebay for only 45 bucks. i think elsewhere it would have cost upwards of 100

Sylvester 12.18.2005 10:35 PM

Personally id just stick with the tranny.

Sneeck 12.19.2005 01:53 AM

Yep, basher's don't need a center diff/ slipper.

captain harlock 12.19.2005 08:24 PM

The only difference between the towerless VBS and the towered VBS is the shock tower, right? then does the towerless VBS have the captured hinge pin feature like the towered VBS or not?

Papa 12.19.2005 08:27 PM

The tower is the only difference. Yes they both have the captured hingepin design and the same geometry. The towerless permits you to use ANY shock tower that is built to the maxx standard bolt pattern. The price is significantly different as well. Good choice if you are asking.

captain harlock 12.19.2005 08:35 PM

So, I'll get the same performance, but with lower price and seperately buy some towers. Why did not you get the towerless and went for the towered ones, buddy? You have extra money or something? or do you always break shock towers?

Papa 12.19.2005 08:40 PM

The towered are pure artistry. Well, that and some great engineering. The only downside is you must run the UE VBS Skids, unless you want to modify some one elses. I picked up a few extras. Just in case, the availability is limited.

captain harlock 12.19.2005 08:43 PM

The towerless comes with no skids?

Papa 12.19.2005 09:32 PM

NO they both come with skids. The new ones come with titanium skids. Once upon a time aluminum skids were stanard fare. AN extra set is nice to have. If you get the 8spyder diff kit at the same time I think you get a bit of a price break. Check with Mike.

captain harlock 12.19.2005 09:40 PM

You got all of your things from Mike?

Papa 12.19.2005 09:46 PM

You mean ther is someplace else?:L: ;) He can and will get you everything you need.

Just for you!

Sylvester 12.19.2005 10:18 PM

YAY!! papa, do you got a multicoloured one, :)

captain harlock 12.20.2005 08:47 PM

hey, guys, aside from the unicorn thing, do you think that the truck will be very heavy with all the parts that she'll be built of? if I use a 8xl with 18 cells, how fast can I go with such setup?

Sylvester 12.20.2005 09:05 PM

Well, It might be pretty heavy, some where around where papas truck weighs, with a 8xl on 18 cells you should expect 45 maybe 50 with proper gearing, but you will not have great runtime, id reccomend a 9 or 10xl for nice speed/torque runtime on 18 cells.

captain harlock 12.20.2005 09:11 PM

Hmm. What's the kv of the 10xl, sylvester?

squeeforever 12.20.2005 09:25 PM

here ya go el capitan. its the feigao chart which gives the kv unloaded were as the wanderers have a slightly less kv for the same motor because the wanderers kv is under a load.

captain harlock 12.20.2005 09:30 PM

Thanks alot, Squee. That'll help.

captain harlock 12.20.2005 10:01 PM

The racerX knuckle head shock tower kit( yeah yeah, very short name), is sold for 36 or something. Is that for a pair of towers or one only?

squeeforever 12.20.2005 10:10 PM

a pair i believe but it comes with the racer x suspension. i accually have some and like them alot. very nice quality.

captain harlock 12.21.2005 03:39 AM

What do you mean it comes with the racerX suspension?

Sneeck 12.21.2005 11:41 AM

You don't need to buy them seperatly if you get the racer x suspension kit, cause they are included.

captain harlock 12.21.2005 12:09 PM

But I'm planning to get the kit that comes with out shock towers. It is sold for 400 while the the ones that come with shock towers are sold for 470??! very pricy.

Serum 12.21.2005 12:26 PM

there are two kit though, one with and one without the towers, the one without is for the VBS.

If you buy the loose kit of 34 dollars, you don't have got the alumium shock standoffs, and no aluminium bodypostholders.

squeeforever 12.21.2005 01:09 PM

is that really worth 36 dollars though?!?

Serum 12.21.2005 01:38 PM

Two towers????

why, you think you can have them made from 7075 aluminum cheaper for that money??

captain harlock 12.21.2005 01:41 PM

Well, how much will it cost me to get the racerX suspension pro kit?

squeeforever 12.21.2005 01:53 PM

you said that if you get the 2 towers separate for 34 bucks that it doesnt come with the shock stand-offs or bodypost collars. if you get the racer-x with it its 470 but without its 400. now 400 plus the cost of the 2 towers is 434. is the bodypost collars and shock stand-offs really worth 36 bucks?

captain harlock 12.21.2005 01:55 PM

Hmm, yes, what squee is saying does make sense.

captain harlock 12.21.2005 02:04 PM

Okay, guys. This time I'll be decisive. I want a pro kit racer X suspension and FLM hybrids. How much will these cost me? THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I'VE BEEN ASKING.

Sneeck 12.21.2005 03:06 PM

The shocktower kit cost's 40$ and includes all the hardware needed.

http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...ore/10102.html

The racer x pro kit cost's 470$ which includes the shocktower's and hardware.

http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...ore/10100.html

The hybrid's cost's 150$

http://www.rc-monster.com/fastlane.php

Don't know why you asked though cause you could find this out yourself....

captain harlock 12.21.2005 03:14 PM

I did find it myself, but Serum said it does not come with standoffs nor aluminum bodypost holders. Whay did they called it a kit then?

Sneeck 12.21.2005 03:34 PM

I think Serum ment 2 seperate tower's for 17$ a piece(x 2 = 34$)

There is also a kit availeble that does include the hardware for 40$.
