GPS, wonderful idea !
Whats a simple to use decent qaulity/easily affordable unit ?????

Another thing also !
I think I'd like to get some drift tires for my rig, I thought it would be fun slinging a 1/8 scale around for some sideways drifts ???

Suggestions Please !

Get the most basic hiking style (meaning only gives coordinate locations and what not) GPS you can find. I would search the bay for one. You should be able to pick something up well under 50 bucks that will give speed read outs and hold the top speed for you. There are some pretty small ones now too.

I tried a set of Imex premount rally/street tires once. They were rubber, but the compound sucked for traction and but ended up making for pretty good drift tires. Plus they were cheap $25 I think for the set of four at my lhs. Just don't expect them to last too long, I think I got 12-15 packs through before the tread was gone and I wore holes in them soon after.

This will be my first GPS purchase so this helps tons, Thanks TSP !

Are these 1./10 or 1/8th scale your talking about ?
I'll check out Imex's website, Thanks

Overdriven 06.13.2010 04:25 PM

They were 1/8th scale buggy/onroad, 17mm, I used them on my rc8.

Forerunner 101

Bondonutz 06.13.2010 06:11 PM

Looks good, small and has the features I need. Do you have any experience with this model or brand ??
I'm totally new to GPS

PBO 06.13.2010 06:24 PM

It's the one I use, I can't note any flaws or user problems...it's very versatile. It will even fit onto a 1/8 wing mount (using the supplied wrist strap) which is handy for confirming speed in your truggy/buggy...it sits in there beautifully & is protected for all but the most severe crash

Here's a 'size' shot from my Rustler. You'll note the sophisticated rubber band mounting system!!

Bondonutz 06.13.2010 06:47 PM

I did a google search and found out more info about it, I must say it's a fine model most perfect for the application. It is a discontinued model tho ?
I emailed the seller to see if he's willing to do a price break on the S&H charges.

BTW, sick ass Rusty !

Overdriven 06.13.2010 08:35 PM

Did a little digging, these were the tires I used and was talking about. They'll be good for drifting and thats about it.

Exactly what I use for drifting...had a few fail at high wheel RPM (low speed) but they're very cheap so I'm happy to keep buying. Kyosho did a rally tyre a while ago, they're a GRP copy. Great for drifting & they don't fall apart, I think they're solid rubber? if ever you see them, grab them

I brought home my Losi Dirt Oval body and my Fat Bastard cat commandeered it as a his new nap spot.

nitrostarter 06.18.2010 12:08 AM

I sure wish my roller would come in so I can get mine together and going!

Bondonutz 06.18.2010 09:40 AM

Wishing isn't going to help me, our salesman from Horizon hasn't a clue when my Dirt Oval Car will be coming in ?? Could be several more weeks now till I see it. I asked him why in the hell did you tell me it'll ship the 15th ? The answer I got sounded like Blah Blah Blah IDK ? He's is supposedly going to find out today what the scoop is ?

BTW, the Losi Dirt Oval Body fits the 4x4 Slash perfectly and looks bad assed.
I also heard rumors of there being a asphault oval races trying to get started at the local wing place for Tuesday nights ? So I might have a place to run my car on a regular basis in comp ?

Can we get a pic of the fitment on the Slash?

If you are running in regular competition, you'll most likely need a different setup than a drag car, i.e. tires, gearing, maybe motor...

^^Really^^ ?
Yeah I know, I'd have to drop down to a 4s and regear and of course proper sneakers. It's just an idea for now.
They talking about a having a 2wd Slash class with foam tires and Late model bodys hence the trial fitment for giggles. I'd rather not buy another RC so I think I'll pull the front diff from one of my 2-4WD Slashes which is in the pic and run it ? I clicked off several 60mph+ passes with a stock body befor "flight", I bet with this D-O body I could exceed it easily ?

The body is friggin' HUGE

That would be a sweet class! Looks like a killer fit as well!

From talking with the coordinaters, The requirements to meet are;
2wd Slash
Foam tires
Dirt oval body
I'm gonna stick with the same set up 1509 2Y and 3s

I'll need to rig up a giant foam bumper to keep from destroying the front of the body.

Bondonutz 07.09.2010 03:49 PM

Update;
STILL WAITING FOR MY FREAKIN" CAR ??
:whip::no::cry::bad::grrrrrr:

How about you Cory, did you get your GTP ?

nitrostarter 07.09.2010 04:10 PM

I finally got pictures of the package ready to be shipped and got a tracking number. Of course the @$$ opted for regular parcel service so it won't be here til the end of next week...

Bondonutz 07.09.2010 04:13 PM

On big stuff like that Parcel and Priority is about the same price ? Some will never learn I guess. At least it's on it's way, glad to hear !

nitrostarter 07.10.2010 01:48 AM

thats what i don't understand! it just pisses me off that it took 3 weeks to ship something supposedly shipped on june 13th....

Well my GTP has FINALLY arrived. I'm kinda disgusted with it and don't really want to try an make it go Fast anymore. But since I have everything, I may as well give it a run or 2. May change my mind.

captain harlock 07.21.2010 02:55 PM

That's exactly what's happening to me right now with the Mugen MRX-4X brushless on roader, nitrostarter. I no longer feel interested in running it, eventhough it's %90 ready to go.

Rene, I'm sorry.......

Bondonutz 07.21.2010 02:58 PM

Sorry to hear Cory.

I gave up as well, I decided to get a TC5 instead because oval racing is starting here this month. If I get a need for speed it'll do double duty nicely with a 3s slapped in it. I've even read where a couple guys have run a Castle 2650 and 4s in these little chassis and they were clicking of 95mph passes at half throttle ? Sounds like fun....

I was going to set one up since MiamizFinest did one, but they are just too low to the ground for where we run at. They accelerate hard as heck though with a 2650 on 6s :yipi:

I'm doing something similar

I pick up the roller from rchippie about a month ago, just waiting for some custom gears. Will replace the 1518 with a 2650 later.

snellemin 09.11.2010 06:36 PM

As soon as he gets it to me and tells me some colors I'll get it painted.

OOHHH I think everyone should know that you don't plan on running that body which is Crazy!!! :slap:

RUN IT and when it gets ruined I will paint you another.:whip:

Bmr4life 10.03.2010 01:00 AM

Wow, that's a real nice looking body. Good job with the race also.
